They need a good long halfpipe vert starting low and stepping up along its length so riders can progress from a smaller vert at one end to the taller ramp at the other end. A bit like a shallow end and a deep end in the swimming pool. That way, good riders could make a smoother transition to proper vert and overcome the fear of dropping in....I'm in the UK and an old dude. I remember Bestwick and Tabron and Jerry Galley ripping the vert ramps in the UK when they were kids, making it look easy. I remember the vert at Southsea was always fun to watch. How they used to ride it like they did with the infamous Southsea wind blowing, I'll never know!! I remember watching a few ride that dangerous looking thing at Bracknell leisure centre too. That was a gnarly outdoor metal vert ramp from about 30 years ago. Like Mr Bestwick says, there's some fearless and gnarly street riders out there, but it takes a special set of bollocks for vert....that has got to be pure full on focus and adrenaline once you have dropped in to one of those beasts. Fond memories of 90's BMX, especially Southsea King of Concrete. Crazy f##kers!!
Agreed about ramp size. I think the pendulum has swung a bit too far with ramp size. Getting back to even 11 foot ramps would be more welcoming while still allowing for big airs.
Vert n park n flat are the staple of BMX ... street sucks always has ... and yes Jamie 9 10 11 foot ramps is theee only way now for vert ! Thank you .... please keep my passion going

Please don’t get rid of the vert!! That’s one main reason I’m going this May!
SIZE, I agree! If you really want to attract newer riders to vert I suggest old-school 8 foot halfpipes. That's where it really started.
