They have less people on their pit stop crew. The guy putting on the lug nut generally doesn't also take the wheel off and put a new one on. That's a 3 person job if they want the quickest time

@@HanJukes yeah In a race stopping a formula one car within 1-2 inches of the right spot in an active pit lane is seriously difficult and is nothing like stopping at a stop sign.

When i was a kid I always used to think that the new tyres that they put on these f1 cars were plastic and then gradually turn into rubber after it gets hot lol
The 'glossy' look tyres have only been used since 2019.

This was simply a change to hard tires to get track time running those. Noting to do with the pit crew practicing race condition changes. They did what they needed to do, change tyres to give driver track time on them.

Its pre-season testing, no need to be quick. I'm sure they train hard to be fast when needed, also HAAS is on a budget. They are cutting costs whenever they can!
