P.S.: Sorry, I stuttered. If you want to watch it in chronological order, you'll have to watch three movies of one hour each called Kizumonogatari (Kizu = Scars, Monogatari = Story). A story about scars indeed, but oh boy... prepare to edit a lot.
the openings do switch focus between a set of characters, and like bunny girl senpai, each story line has a naming scheme. *Monogatari* Series has Bake-Monogatari , Neko-Monogatari , Nise-Monogatari , etc
while bunny girl senpai has the naming scheme: *"Rascal Does Not Dream of"* , Bunny Girl Senpai, Petite Devil Kohai, Logical Witch, a Nightingale, etc..
All op:s are heavily infused with symbolism to the point that they reveal key plot points. But they are so obtuse with it that it is almost impossible to see until after you have seen the arc it is for.
Honestly, that's like my favourite kind of opening.
jojo openings till season 4 at least are like that too, the first opening is kinda telling the whole part 1 plot if you'll watch it again after a couple of episodes, but until that point it's just flashy characters and symbolism.

The reason people say bunny girl is monogatari lite is because they both follow the same format of small arcs each focused on a character struggling with supernatural issues with the mc trying to help them out except monogatari is heavier on the supernatural and dialogue aspect.
Not to mention the 0.1 second frames that you can't help but pause only to see it say noir, or red, or death, or something.

So, as you may have heard, the Monogatari series is told in a non linear way so Bakemonogatari while not being the first thing chronologically, it is the very first thing we got form Monogatari ever (both as an anime and as a light novel).
There's pretty much 3 ways you can watch it: chronologically, anime release order and light novel release order (which is the one I'd recommend for a first time viewing).
The reason they feel so different is cause every opening is focused on a character and their struggles and every character in the series is SUPER different. If there's something the Monogatari series is good at is definitely character writing.
Monogatari isn't only good at character writing, it's possibly the best at it.
chronologically is the worst way, it is completely detrimental to the Ougi storyline.

Ok, to explain it a bit:
Bakemonogatari is only one season of the Monogatari Series. Openings aren't for seasons but for each arc with every arc being about a different girl and a supernatural problem she and the MC gotta deal with (similar to the way Bunny Girl Senpai does it)
When people talk about stuff like Bakemonogatari, Kizumonogatari, Nekomonogatari, Tsukimonogatari, Nisemonogatari etc. then that's all the same series with the same characters but different focuses in each arc and different overarching themes per season.
Careful tho, monogatari literally just means something like "story" (Nekomonogatari is the "cat story" for example) so there are anime with similar titles that have nothing to do with the series. When someone says or something is called "Monogatari Series" tho it is this one.
There are plenty of watch guides so no need to worry.

My friend likes to call bunny girl senpai "monogatari lite" because they are very similar stories, but monogatari is much darker and deeper in the storytelling

In my opinion this is the best order. It is arranged so that the events happen in succession, so that the plot is better understood. That's why kizumonogatari comes first and neko comes after it, because the events take place literally after these films, even though the dates in which the seasons are released are different.
@@erlox1104 Stop making up your own orders and just watch the series the way it was intended to be released. I don't get this debate about "This is the best order; I made it up myself.". Why not make up your own watch orders for other shows at this point: "Uhh, I think you should start AOT at season 4." It's so dumb. The series was very intentionally released in the order it's supposed to be watched. The only exceptions are Hana and Kizu since they were delayed due to production issues.
There is currently 4 seasons: First season, second season, final season, and now off season. This is how they are OFFICIALLY called. Moving entries from the second season to the very end of the story is incredibly dumb. Especially since the narrator himself, in the series, acknowledges the order the series is released in.

@@AbrahamLeyvaPeraltaNo, Novel Order is better as it has thematic consistency and flow. There is still mystery, but it isn't the forced and jarring mystery present in the airing order. Not to mention the airing order is just a mistake, it was always meant to be aired in Novel order - they just ran into production issues.
This is further reinforced if you watch the official opening compilations - they're in Novel Order.

Anime reaction is needed like an oxygen
It's not like each season is based off different characters, No! Instead all these openings were from the same Season Bakemonogatari (except the last two which were from Nisemonogatari & Nekomonogatari)
Basically each opening is based off different arcs from the season, where each arc is focused on a different female character & our Main Protagonist *Araragi* trying to help them with their otherworldly & mystical problems + each opening is actually sung by the voice artist of the characters (that's how they do that every season)
At last answering your questions on how many Monogatari Seasons are there, well to be exact there are 12 seasons as of rn (including the new season that's airing at the moment)

Monogatari has a very similar plot to Bunny girl senpai, mental health issues of characters, mainly girls, manifested in supernatural ways, that our MC tries to solve/help, one after another. Each opening is then sung by the VA for whichever character the current arc centers around, with usually 2-5 episodes per arc.

First, I would recommend you retitle your first Monogatari op reaction you did last year to Final Season Openings, and these to First Season Openings, and maybe change one of the thumbnails since they are almost identical.
Now, to summarize what others have been saying, these openings are based off the first season, not just Bakemonogatari. Bakemonogatari is the first entry you are supposed to watch and has a near identical premise to Bunny Girl Senpai (Monogatari came first). It follows (in Bakemonogatari at least) MC Koyomi Araragi ( voiced by Levi VA Hiroshi Kamiya) helping different girls' problems that manifest as supernatural phenomenon. Monogatarari series itself is based off a light novel series and each season has a number of volumes (books), each of which have one or more arcs. The volumes have specific names that end in 'monogatari' (e.g. Bakemonogatari, Kizumonogatari, etc.) and is the name fans use to refer to specific entries. For the anime adaption, some might call these volumes 'seasons' as well, since that is how we normally distinguish tv entries, but properly 'season' in Monogatari refers to a collection of thematically tied volumes. The arcs themselves are named after the girl being focused on (e.g. Hitagi Crab, Mayoi Snail, etc.), and can have different vibes depending on the problem in the arc each girl is facing. The arcs are pretty self-contained but can build off each other. You will feel every single emotion watching this show. There are five seasons of Monogatari with a sixth being written right now. The anime adapts the first three seasons, known as first, second and final season, which tells the main stories. Off season (Side Stories) and Monster Season (Sequel season) is what is being aired now. Every entry is highly acclaimed, with the new season airing having at this time an 8.98 rating on MAL, making it at this time the 13th highest rated show on the site. The series was written in a non-chronological order, but that helps with the pacing and mystery. Do not watch the show chronologically on a first watch. The anime released in the same order as the light novels with a few exceptions due to production issues, so the best way to watch is in the order the novels released (at the very least Kizumonogatari must be watched after Bakemonogatari). There is fan service, but in intensity it is not much more intense than what is seen in Mushoku Tensei or No Game No Life, it's just the kind of fan service it has can make some uncomfortable. There is some nudity, but nothing critical. When you do eventually react to the series, know that it is a show that requires your upmost attention since it is mostly dialogue between characters. Watching a version with good subtitles (there are a few different ones) is imperative to understanding the series. Make sure to read comments to get help in explaining things you will no doubt miss or not understand.

Fun fact, Kana Hanazawa who sings the 4th opening Renai Circulation is a prolific VA who is in basically every show Sudio Shaft has made in the last 20 years. She is also Shirase, one of the main girls in A Place Further Than the Universe that you just started. She is one of my favorite VA's right up there with Aoi Yuuki. The shows and movies you have already seen with her in it are Suzume, Demon Slayer, Eminence in Shadow, and Stein's Gate. She is also in Angel Beats which it looks likely you will be watching next on Patreon along with Vivy.
I didn’t realize that she also voiced Shirase! That is so cool to know.
It's been a long time since I watched the Monogatari series, but I will tell you, it changed me, and many ways I view the world. The story is simply brilliant.
I love the symbolism, and how they portray mental problems and illnesses through their storytelling. It's a supernatural show, but the supernatural elements (monsters, etc) are linked with, and a representation of the characters' mental state.
However, it's also extremely bizzare. It's definitely a story that's hard to reccomend to others, because of the weirdness, the young characters, and sisters. But at the same time, I don't think it would be the same if they removed it from the story.
Another challenging part of it is that it's extremely dialogue-heavy. You will realize that you've just watched the characters sit in one spot and do nothing but talk for 45 minutes. A lot of the language and symbolism is also not easily translated from Japanese, so a lot might go over someone's head unless it's researched/explained.
So yeah, definitely not a story for everyone, but if that's something peaking your interest, it's definitely worth checking out. The story (or, stories telling one bigger story) is like nothing else.
The studio that Did Madoka Magicka actually did Monogatari as well.
Hence the weird way of depicting the world itself which actually fits very well the stories... Make the "boring" setting of the stories interesting visually while the actual story happens...
Monogatari has a bit of everything. It’s super cheeky, but it has a really really interesting plot, great characters, and poses really thought provoking circumstances. It’s my favorite anime of all time
Monogatari is one of my favorite series of all time, but GOD is hard to recommend it, for...reasons...
The full anime is (as of now, there’s a new season currently airing), if I remember correctly, about 100 episodes and 3 movies, so about 2 years if you watch only one episode a week. Personally I recommend watching the series by arc, and arcs can be like 2 to 5 episodes each, that way you can watch it faster while also understanding better (you wouldn’t forget relevant info in the middle of the arc because of waiting a week between episodes)
And yes, these official compilation videos are the best way to see these openings, and this is the first compilation. The one you watched the last time was the third one, so next up is the second compilation.

"I don't actually know what Monogatari is about" so Monogatari is the Japanese word for an epic story. The word before Monogatari for each season is telling you what the season is about pretty much, so Bakemonogatari = ghost/monster story, Nekomonogatari = cat story, Nisemonogatari = imposter story, and so on. The Monogatari series is essentially a bunch of over-exaggerated and over-dramatic stories told by the main character. some episodes might just be a 20 minute long conversation about nothing but it is framed so hilariously dramatic its so good

But these openings are for each arc/character. You just watched all the openings for the First Season of the Monogatari Series, which despite the name doesn't mean anime seasons its just story wise.
The anime seasons consists of Bakemonogatari (OP 1-5), Nisemonogatari (OP 6-8), and Nekomonogatari Kuro (OP 9).
Theres also Kizumonogatri which consistents of 3 movies and is technically apart of First Season since it becomes before Bakemonogatari. But in Anime release order it comes later as the production of the movies was delayed

Luke, while I'd love to explain the openings for you, especially opening 5, they are so heavily symbolic and the show is so based around figuring characters and situations out properly that even a little explanation would probably help you too much.
The complete silence for Platinum Disco hurt my soul.
Anyway no, it isn't different characters. Monogatari does intros for each arc (usually between 2 and 5 episodes) rather than season and most arcs focus on a particular character (usually a girl) and often (but not always) the MC as well. The Voice Actors do indeed sing the intros. The reason the intros feel so different is because they reflect both the personality of the character and in some way the story of the arc, though often not the tone of the arc. Sometimes the intros are actually very intentional contrasts to the tone of the arc.

So as some comments already said, the Monogatari series consists of individual arcs, each focused on one charakter and their struggles. There is a different opening for every arc which is sung by the voice actors of the charakter in focus during that arc. (Also the arcs aren't full seasons but more like 3-6 episodes per arc. And about the length: There are currently a total of 94 episodes and 3 movies, without the new season that is currently airing)
These arcs are linked, but in a non-chronological order, so each arc kinda expands on the overall timeline. The biggest link between the arcs is how most of them are told from the perspective of the main character araragi, (the "that guy" you saw in multiple openings). But the characters focused on in one arc also sometimes appear in other arcs.
That's also something in which Bunny Girl Senpai is similar to the Monogatari series, the one guy going around and helping the charakter in focus with their supernatural problem (or at least being involved). However, Monogatari goes more into the supernatural kinda theme with actual monsters, ghosts and stuff like that while Bunny Girl Senpai tries to explain its phenomenons with quantum physics.
There are indeed some rather questionable scenes in Monogatari, but nowhere on the level of the scene in that opening.
The art direction is a really big factor in Monogatari. The series looks like no anime i've ever seen, with really abstract art, random text and images flashing on screen, abstract colors and just a overall abstract artstyle.
So yeah i think thats about everything. It's basically impossible to gather what the anime is about from the openings, so don't worry about that.

The Names of the Seasons are Wordplays.
Like Bakemonogatari comes from Bakemono and Monogatari, which mean Monster and Story respectively.
Nisemonogatari comes from Nisemono - Fake - and again: Monogatari for Story.
The Anime does not have full Nudity as far as I can remember, but yes you are correct, it's probably not 100% safe for Twitch/YT.
It's basically a Harem with *many VERY* dodgy Camera Angles, being so upfront and going so far with its Fanservice, that it's almost commendable. I'll leave you to take from that what you will^^ The Reason why you saw the Guy in most of these is because *he* is the Main Character.
And as others have pointed out, the Watch Order may have to be chosen by you or by Vote, as there are multiple possible Ways to watch the Story, and chronologically might make the most Sense.

Regarding whether you should watch it or not: I think the Monogatari Series is one of the Anime that you just "have to watch" at some Point, simply because it'd be a Stain in your Resumé. It's very "different", but that's even more Reason to check it out and either find out whether you like it, or just to talk about it.
the other Reason as to why this should be on Patreon and not on Twitch is because it's non a Popcorn-Show. You can't just watch Monogatari and *not* pay Attention. The Anime consists almost soley of Dialogue, and I think you'd end up very confused when watching it on Twitch. I think it's a pretty brilliant Show, but it's definitely not everyone's Cup of Tea.

There are different OP’s for each arc. The video you watched covers all the Opening in the First season of the Monogatari Series (Bakemonogatari, Kizumonogatari, Nisemonogatri and Nekomonogatari Black). It’s a very long series. Each opening shows the main girl of the arc. The other character previous introduced are still present in the series
The reason why people compare it to Bunny Girl Senpai is for the similar plot. “Main character helping girls with a physical manifestation of a mental problem they are having” so imagine Bunny Girl Senpai in a Madoka Magica direction in terms of art and cinematography.
There are multiple watch orders, but I would recommend the Light Novel order as that’s what the author intended, but it is confusing

There’s a different opening for every arc (which are usually like a few episodes). Which is why there are so many, even for this long of a show. Also, the voice actresses for the main female character of the arc sings the song. And the songs very much reflect the arc and the character in it.

I haven't seen them all and I'm not an expert in this anime, but generally each character has 3 arcs focused on them, a beginning, middle and end, like movies are divided into 3 acts.
And Monogatari Series is divided into 3 major seasons, the openings you saw are basically the first season of the original material, that's why the next anime in order of release is called "Monogatari Series: Second Season", because it adapts all the books that belong to the second season.
Here's a tip, if you're going to watch it, watch it in order of release, it's my rule that I use for all confusing animes (Like Fate/series), watch it the way the creator wanted.

The Bakemonogatari series is Bunny Girl Senpai's older/weirder cousin. Down to main girls of arcs perform the openings as they did the ED for Bunny Girl Senpai.
He seems to prefer straightforward (catchy) anime, so I'm not sure if he will enjoy this series with its complex storyline. Especially trying to get something out of it by just watching the OP won't work with this anime. It seems that some people are recommending this anime, but I have my doubts. lol

The thing about the opening is that whenever new character get introduced, we would get a new opening based on that new character, so multiple different opening in just a single season.
As such, it's accurate to say it's a character theme. Since the opening is based on the character personality rather than the theme of the anime (new opening comes out in new character introduction afterall), that's why each opening doesn't feel connected at all. Lol XD
So rather than every season focusing on every single character, it's just every opening focusing on a different character. It may look like all that was from many seasons cause many opening, but no, all that was in a single season. You see all these characters all at once in the same season, story will be abit more boring if it was just 1 character per season afterall, but by having 1 character per opening, it made the opening more interesting cause there's more new opening in a single season compare to most other anime. Lol XD
Bunny Girl Senpai and Monogatari are similar is some ways, but _very_ different in others. So much so that Monogatari is only really similar in its base premise of supernatural events happening to various girls that the Male Main Character helps out with. Everything else is pretty far afield in style, story, presentation, voice acting, everything is off the walls.
Like maybe take Bunny Girl Senpai's premise, mix it with some Madoka Magica undertones (and a times very much not undertones), then add some Konosuba's irreverent humor, but not as often as silly, more lewd at times (unfortunatley often directed at underaged girsl), and also a TON of Japanese specific wordplay that will unavoidably whoosh over your head.
Its something else... like nothing you've ever seen. Not necessarily in a good way, but not necessarily bad either. Kind of an acquired taste situation?
Oh, also regarding its NSFW content. Its got a lot of lewdness in imagery and dialogue, and I can't it's all SFW, but there's nothing actually explicit that would actually need to be blurred, just that you; might want to. Though the sequels season, Nisemonogatari (which was actually the 6-8th openings here), gets pretty dang close... Still definitely a Patreon only show.
If you were shocked (BTW, awesome face there) by Sugarsweet Nightmare's OP there's another version that's different at that part that may surprise you as much. I love the OP songs they're almost all bangers to me In the second OP featuring the stapler girl, the awesome sound you hear is a box cutter being retracted or extended. I think it's genius. Sugarsweet Nightmare and Platinum Disco are my faves but that's only by a hair.
I'm sure other people have filled you in on how the Monogatari story structure is laid out. Honestly it's not a good series for reaction, IMO. For a review. For sure.
Firstly, I want to say that this is my favourite anime (tv show) of all time. But sorry because this show can't be summarised in one sentence or even paragraph, especially without talking about each and every episode.❤❤
This is atleast 100 times more dialogue heavy show than bunny girl senpai. Also, every single object and colour in every shot of this anime has a deep meaning behind it. And that's why this is probably the only show in which even the scenes which seem fan service at first, have a completely different, deep and relevant meaning behind it😊. For some scenes you will need Sherlock Holmes level brain to catch it's meaning.
Most of the people describe it as a show with lots of fan service and the mc being a lolicon, siscon or whatever. But trust me, it is muchhhhh better than those comments. One of the best and detailed story writing that I have ever experienced. And Araragi Koyomi being my one of the favourite main character in TV.👍

But Caution: NOT FOR EVERYONE 🙏
So, I'm going to avoid giving any spoilers, but there's a few things about Monogatari that might help you decide if you actually want to watch.
First, Bakemonogatari is season 1, and each season after that has its own name - the Kizumonogatari films are a prequel to Bake, but both the books and films were released after Bake, so I'd recommend starting with Bake. To be honest, you can just look at wikipedia and watch in the order the anime released, a couple of parts got delayed compared to where they should be based on the books, but it doesn't hamper the experience too much (alternatively, go by the book order; but that's a little harder, because the anime names don't always match the books). NB: Katanamonogatari is not part of the series, it's just written by the same guy.
Second. The Bunny Girl Sempai comparison. Bunny Girl Senpai is Monogatari Light - Monogatari has the same sort of "realistic conversation" thing going on, and random supernatural shit, but also draws quite heavily on French New Wave Cinema, and frequently goes quite Shakespearean with long monologues and soliloquies - sometimes entire episodes are just a conversation between two characters.
Third; there are some scenes that could be argued to be questionable, but nothing too severe. I wouldn't risk YTing it, because sometimes someone at YT has a bad day, but other than that I wouldn't worry overmuch. The scenes in question make more sense in context.
Fourth... Ok, so trauma and mental health are core parts of the narrative of Monogatari. In a way, the story is about characters overcoming things in their past, but spliced with that past trauma manifesting as supernatural events. This is why many of the scenes alluded to above exist. If you don't want to watch a show in which several main characters have been abused or neglected by their families, don't watch Monogatari.
Finally. Monogatari is WEIRD. It's a weird that I like, but it is weird. It's certainly not something I would ever recommend to someone new to anime, and even someone who's been around a while I'd want to have a good handle on what they like before giving them Monogatari. As you like AoButa, you are more likely to be in the camp that will like Monogatari, but just be aware that it is not for everyone. And that's ok.

Little do you know this was and probably is still the most popular opening. Not just in Monogatari but it was rated one of the best openings of all time according to many anime fans.
Also motogatari means story.All of the arcs are named () story. For example Bake Monogatari = ghost story. Neko Monogatari = Cat Story.
Also let’s just say Monogatari will be NOTHING like you’ve seen before. It is a literary masterpiece according to Japanese fans, the author uses a lot of word play and makes references that even Japanese fans don’t understand. The anime tries but fails to convey the same message from the books. The English translation of the light novels are a good read but it’s nothing like the Japanese novels. I’ll let you discover on your own what it’s about.
I just remeber that bakemonogatari probably has the record speedrun into a pantyshot of any anime (6 seconds I think, and it's focused panty shot).
Anyways monogatari is actually great, the stories and philosophical questions are pretty nice, the way the episodes and story are sturctured is a bit special but it has its charms.
BUT it has a lot of sexual tension going on (including lots of lolis). I mean there is a famous "tooth brushing" scene in there which is, something.
You have to watch it, but IDK if you should watch it in public.

I have already said it, but monogatari just mean "story". Bakemonogatari means "story of monsters", Nisemonogatari "story of liars" (not sure, but somthing like this), Nekomonogatari "story of cat" ect. you have to not confond it with monogatari, wich is another series. the monogatari series (bake, neko, nise, season 2, kizu, last season, zoku owari and monst and off season) is in one universe and is complexe to follow (i mean, the chronologie is totally f*cked up but it would be even harder to follow it in this order). All i will say, is that bunny girl senpai is like a descendant of this, it's really not for nothing that we said that if you liked bunny girl senpai, you will like this.
PS: what you watched was bakemonogatari, nisemonogatari and Nekomonogatari -kuro- openings. i remeber that you watched last season's one (not sure, and maybe only the second part)

The Monogatari songs are dangerous due to copyright claims/ strikes. It's just a suggestion but don't leave the anime just after an episode or Two just keep patience and you will love it.

Under all the supernatural stuff, verbose dialogue, and sexually charged parts, Monogatari is fundamentally about broken people. People with regrets, people with pain, people who lost something that will never, ever come back to them. However, it's also about how no matter how much hurt you go through, you can still find a reason to get up in the morning the next day. You can still learn, grow, change, and heal.
It takes some characters dozens and dozens of episodes to get to that point, but it just makes it more satisfying to see them overcome their traumas and their flaws and become more complete versions of themselves.

Honestly I get the confusion, the Monogatari series is infamous for being one of the more confusing anime series out there, so it's understandable.
A couple suggestions are Little Busters (adapted from another Maeda Jun work, like Clannad and Angel Beats which you did before) op + ed and Beyond the Boundary op + ed, both are kind of hidden gem classics. Would absolutely love to see your reaction to them.
Monogatari is Bunny girl senpai but deeper and honestly better, superior in every possible way but with one downside, and it's that is much harder to understand due to the trivial yet heavy dialogue, japanese wordplay and the fact that the show it's not on chronological order.

So I have a mixed take on monogatari, it's way too heavy on dialogue especially with some of the characters which are fairly boring... I did like however bakemonogatari (the main character with senjougahara parts).
I feel like the anime could've done well being a 1 with 1 romance anime instead of a harem garbage stuff, it defeats the purpose of the anime
we are not want you to watch this only cuz it has beyond great dialogue and story writting, Bunny Girl's dialogues was heavily inspired by Monogatari's overall style and pace of dialogues and arcs as well. (not exactly the same tho, Monogatari is using crazy and quick shots and keep-changing drawing styles while the scene is happening)
Bad title, here you reacted to the openings from Bakemonogatari but also the 3 openings from Nisemonogatari and the opening from Nekomonogatari, it's not that complicated in order of emision... Bake part 1, Nise part 2, and Neko part 3.
Monogatari is not that long, for example Nekomonogatari only has 4 episodes, or there is one part of 12 episodes but those episodes are like 10 minutes each.

The Monogatari Series is one of the greatest anime of all time. Don't react to it. If you're not reading the books, you need to find the author-intended novel order, watch the anime yourself without distractions or people trying to "explain" it. This isn't just for Luke, but for anyone interested in the series.
Monogatari Series is a very japanese (like seriously) and heavy dialogue anime, the art direction is unique among anime. Even the novel is considered as a study material in Japan because of how good the writing is.
Its a series that needed a good amount attention into it. Try Bakemonogatari first, if it catch your interest then continue. Watch order aside, if you can live through Bake then you could handle the rest of the series just fine.
