Watching these back - you can tell it was a period where I was using a scrolling teleprompter. My dialogue is so fast paced as I'm just trying to keep up.
- Bigger budget, better effects. - New villain that is never once mentioned in the show. - Plot confined to a completely different timeline than the show. Its like a big budget, live action OVA.
I knew even as a kid that the series was based on super sentai. But I DIDNT know that Lord Zed is just a character just for the american show. He was terrifying for me as a kid.
My problem with the movie is I LOVE Ron Wasserman's work, and it SHOULD have been his soundtrack. I bet parents liked it, and the songs are fine...but Power Rangers isn't the same without his sound.
Rita was sealed away 10000 years ago and ivan ooze 6000 they both fought rangers. so atleast 2 other teams of rangers existed. and man ivan oozes first battle would have been so much harder since no green ranger since rita still has green coin. and no white ranger since not made yet.
Wonderfully made video man. Thank you for the very detailed and informative story explanation. Was part of the reason why I enjoyed this game so much as a kid, the story in the genesis made me so thrilled to see copy the TV show and movie.
About the Mega Drive/Genesis version the sprites are closer to the suits used in both Power Rangers and Super Sentai same with the zord transformation cutscenes it feels like a Super Sentai game too.
I enjoy speeding through the Sega Genesis game every now and then :P a good time passer except for the final boss battle with Ivan Ooze. That boss always brought me down to low health :/
i owned the sega version as a kid i believe i even still have my copy, i loved it. i remember even having a friend stay over one night and my mom caught him playing at like 3 in the morning lol
people complaining about gameboys are funny. when that is your only video game console you cherish it. And spend lots of money on batteries. I had the movie game for game boy and I played the crap out of it.
What do you mean, 'avoid the Game Boy version'?! My pre-teen Rangerhead self loved the shit out of that game! Although, I never meant for the trade for my Samurai Shodown to be, you know, PERMANENT... 😭 PS That just sounds like standard-issue Game Boy music to me...
There are so many bad Games related to movies, but i really liked the snes Version of the movie. But which Games of this time do you think are the better ones?!
I liked the SNES and Mega Drive versions of Aladdin, and there were some other Disney PC games that were not bad. I guess the obvious choice is Goldeneye though.
I need to point out that the SNES version on your video isn’t the movie ver?? It was the first MMPR video game on SNES. There’s a different PR movie game on SNES.
When it comes to the Power Rangers season 2 situation, I would have liked it if they simply killed off Jason, Trini and Zack in a fight against one of Lord Zed's monsters to at least make the episodes less awkward in regards to introducing the 3 newer rangers.

I freaking LOVE Mega Drive/Genesis version of the game. I played the hell out of it back in my childhood. It was fun and also, i like the movie too.
Dairanger suits were gorgeous. As a kid during this time I always wanted suits based off the new animals.
The genesis mega drive version is superior from all these. Great beat em up!
The Genesis/Mega Drive version of the movie game is very good. I did a let's play of it but may revisit it as a stream.
