Harley made street cafe' racers for two years 1977 & 78. XLCR 1000. I've got both years. Harley also made a street XR 1000 with two seperate carbs & exhaust pipes just like the XR750 flat tracker. I just happen two have one of those. I've been wanting to mixing the two together to make a bad ass cafe' racer, but that means killing two bikes to make one. The torture of it all.
Props to you! The stitched seat is awesome! The led brake/turn light is also awesome. The lowered bars, the mirrors, the powder coated springs, even the stick on pin stripes. All awesome!
Chris thanks so much for sharing you have so much talent. Able to do almost anything including seeing the seats. Looking forward to seeing your next project.
ok so I don't generally like Harleys but I have to say ... you've turned me! Great job of simple and elegant balance - what I really love is that the eyes aren't bombarded with bling ... but the more you look at them, the more understated balance you notice. Those pinstripes make such a huge difference. Simple and clever. Those seats are fekken gorgeous and a touch of sophisticated styling. Good job on tidying up the tail end too. And those SM exhausts - perfect! Cracking work, gents :)
Great video, you guys are awesome and I had a 750 street 2 months ago ready to buy and opted for a used 2012 883 iron only because I'm on the east coast and the 750 being fairly new the aftermarket parts for it is a still a little slim and also I felt too big on it since I'm 6 ft. Tall but will probably pick a 750 up for my wife and great shops like your are hard to find so thanks for the encouraging video I am now subscribed....
Very nice work Chris, my only gripe is the front mudguard (fender) on the black Bike looks wrong with the bigger wheel, you're So lucky to do this for a living,
I must say you did an awesome job on those 2 bikes. for me the black one is the one I would like but with the exhaust pipe off the red bike. You really transformed to bike to a much better looking unit. it makes me want one...
Laurie Bass check our facebook page. We just did another one with custom 18" wheels and the black exhaust. Unfortunately we do what the dealer asks for so we don't get to make all the decisions...
Wow I wasn't a big Harley fan and I guess the real Harley guys would say I'm still not but I always likes the V Rod and I really like the street Rod 750 and love what you have done to these two bikes so at this point I have to say I'm more excited about what Harley has done except killing the V Rod !
Wondering about the brightness of the LED combination light. Remember, the main purpose of the taillight is to be seen by other vehicles approaching from the rear. The light is VERY COOL, but if it can't be seen it is almost worthless.
+Delta Douglas insanely bright, brighter than the stock light for sure. hard to tell in a video but looking directly at it will leave spots on your eyes...
Super nice job. I just bought a new 2015 cafe racer'd out Iron 883 with ABS...I love it. I still love my 2013 Softail Slim and my 2016 Indian Chief Dark Horse but the 883 is my daily commute bike of choice across the SF/Oakland Bay Bridge.
I will order a cafe racer sit from you guys for my 2019 Street 750XG. I will cut the frame to fit the custom sit. Your video doesn’t show how to secure the new sit to the back
hey guys great job on the great looking bikes I have the same bike is their any chance you can tell me where can I find rims and tires for this bike thanks
I put a full stage 1 Tab Performance kit on my street 750 and the improvement is unbelievable. Throttle response is now silky smooth, definite power increase and it sounds awesome. 😀
Debating on a sport 750 and an Iron 883. It would be mainly for commuting and city riding. Was wondering how much all in all that black and orange sport would be, but with the SM exhaust. My next question is would it possible to keep the same aggressive sport look with a passenger seat? Either way 750 or 883 I would want to have the second seat so my girl can ride with me. You guys do an amazing job from what I've seen, and I can't wait to see more! Thanks!
Make a license plate bracket that you can flip up or down with a switch on the handlebar so when you see a cop and you are going to run, you flip up the license plate and you are good to go.. Love the work you do!!
With those clubman's would you need a new throttle sleeve and some kind of spacer for the clam shell controls to fit properly? (going from a 1" to 7/8")
The XG750 "Street 750" has 7/8" (22mm) diameter handlebars as stock fitment and the switchgear is different to all other H-D models. The turn signal switch is in the left hand side like metric machines, not left hand and right hand sides like on Harley's Sportster, Dyna, Softail and Touring range.
Speed Merchant muffler fits overall system better than the first one, I like the silver muffler, but the heat shield would need to go! Maybe exhaust wrap or something. Definitely needs a bigger headlight on the first one. Over all, Great job, Chris, nice builds, hope they are paying you well!!! Shop owners bike is always last, if ever!
Great job! Harley should offer this look as an option anyway! Look at the BMW R nine T, A bike designed to be easily customized by the owner. Wow BMW is hip and Harley sits on its ass. Though it was a wise move to create the 750 however! I wonder what Harley expects the 750 rider to move up to? They have nothing!
hexcode rearsets not yet available for this bike. Plus we only had a week to do the entire bike... rearsets would also require different exhaust system. If we had more time maybe...
I'm not really a Harley fan but have to say that these bikes looks great. Nice to see proper craftsmanship at work. Out of interest what kind of money does the custom work come to after purchasing the bike?
Just buy a used bike and make it a cafe racer. It'd almost be cheaper to buy a new triumph or Yama cafe than to use a harley Not to mention it's a harley with a Euro style.. Kind of redundant.
That front fender of bike one does not look like it fits the tire. Also, the exhaust on bike one doesn't blend in well at all. I think bike two actually looks better.
larcenylukas tuffside.com... universal cafe seats. Measure your bike then pick the one that may fit. Nobody makes a "cafe" seat just for a GN125 so this is as close as your gonna get. Thanks
i like it as a options package for a smaller budget. wich is perfect for a harley dealer standard stuff just doesnt cut it these days looks horrible the factory stuff.
Nice work, and looks very well done. I think if I was to buy a new bike then pay for the custom build, you could then get a better bike in the first place, but I know it would look like other bikes, and we all like to be different.
Too bad I can’t just ship my Street 750 to you guys to have you customize it like that The whole project would probably cost me more than buying another brand new Street 750

Chris yet another one of your classic caferacer builds well done mate luv your work you do the café racer builders proud mate
Chris thanks so much for sharing you have so much talent. Able to do almost anything including seeing the seats. Looking forward to seeing your next project.

this is not an Harley...
Really...
:-)
FUCK YOU it is a Harley-Davidson you tool.
Great video, you guys are awesome and I had a 750 street 2 months ago ready to buy and opted for a used 2012 883 iron only because I'm on the east coast and the 750 being fairly new the aftermarket parts for it is a still a little slim and also I felt too big on it since I'm 6 ft. david claudio Thanks! if you want to modify it we can also supply all the parts needed.
I love the look of the black and orange one and the sound of the red and silver one.
Very nice work Chris, my only gripe is the front mudguard (fender) on the black Bike looks wrong with the bigger wheel, you're So lucky to do this for a living,
how far can they go without a sore arse. Or is it just for short journeys
Great job can I change handlebar for street 750 alone I don't have much experience is it easy or no
the bar end mirrors did you have to remove the grips to make a hole or just cut through them on the bar?
I must say you did an awesome job on those 2 bikes. for me the black one is the one I would like but with the exhaust pipe off the red bike. You really transformed to bike to a much better looking unit. it makes me want one...

I'm just curious how much you guys would charge to change the xg750 into caffe racer.........
Wow I wasn't a big Harley fan and I guess the real Harley guys would say I'm still not but I always likes the V Rod and I really like the street Rod 750 and love what you have done to these two bikes so at this point I have to say I'm more excited about what Harley has done except killing the V Rod !
is there a way to buy that Orange seat and all the mounting brackets and I do it my self
Good stuff man! I'd like to see some rear sets on it tho.
Aleks Borgia sure me to. Make me some in 4 days and i'd be happy to put them on. :-)
Wondering about the brightness of the LED combination light. Remember, the main purpose of the taillight is to be seen by other vehicles approaching from the rear.
The light is VERY COOL, but if it can't be seen it is almost worthless.
+Delta Douglas insanely bright, brighter than the stock light for sure. hard to tell in a video but looking directly at it will leave spots on your eyes...
just wanna ask how much gonna cost ? i want to do it .
Nice bikes. Do you have a link for the exhaust of bike no 2?
That black and orange one is exactly what i want to do to mine... What are the spec's on the rims, tires and price?
MYPIG13 email me, its complicated.
Do both have stock air filters after they were done?
Super nice job. I just bought a new 2015 cafe racer'd out Iron 883 with ABS...I love it. I still love my 2013 Softail Slim and my 2016 Indian Chief Dark Horse but the 883 is my daily commute bike of choice across the SF/Oakland Bay Bridge.
Ty Gerhardt I have a iron 883 as well and I was just wondering if you could do this to it as well!!! do you have any picks?
We already make Sportser Cafe parts. Check our store tuffside.com
Thanks
What pipes did you use on those bikes? They sound good
I can watch this video over and over again ... Thanks !!
I will order a cafe racer sit from you guys for my 2019 Street 750XG. I will cut the frame to fit the custom sit. Your video doesn’t show how to secure the new sit to the back
I don’t really like the cafe racer style, but dang man, these bike came out very nice! Great job!!!🙌🏼
@chrischapell Can u just tell me how wide can the rear tyre go in street 750 with the stock rim, without changing the profile
What length shocks do you use to get that tyre on
The curve of the front fender doesnt match with the tyre.
Should change the tank to a mid 70's Honda cb, would look killer
How mutch it cost this kind of work on a xg 750?
hey guys great job on the great looking bikes I have the same bike is their any chance you can tell me where can I find rims and tires for this bike thanks
They our our brand custom wheels, check the video info. Link to our store is in it. thanks!
and any HD dealership can help someone make their own bike ?
The stripes look great.
I put a full stage 1 Tab Performance kit on my street 750 and the improvement is unbelievable. Throttle response is now silky smooth, definite power increase and it sounds awesome. 😀
Front fender curve is off from the tire, it would annoy the crap out of me if that were my bike.
How about making a video installing ape hangers in a street 750 next
How much would you charge me to paint it for me?
Great work! Looks so much better than stock.
Debating on a sport 750 and an Iron 883. It would be mainly for commuting and city riding. Was wondering how much all in all that black and orange sport would be, but with the SM exhaust.

You guys do an amazing job from what I've seen, and I can't wait to see more!
Thanks!
Austin Eck you should test ride them both first. Completely different machines.
Thanks for the reply Chris, and yeah you are right I'll just have to test them both.
Are these still available?
Do you sell the seat and rear fender
Wow.. your garage is beautiful.. Have you ever been trained in customizing?
Very cool, good job Chris.
Looks like you were building a Street Rod...
Sir can u tell me the size and width of tyre.
Hii sir
Sir how you can adjust seet ?
Thank you sir for making this kind of videos.
what do you do with the handlebars and the headlight surround and the other stuff that gets taken off the bikes that get modified
+charles bailey all parts go back to the dealership or owner of the bike. thanks
+charles bailey I was thinking the same thing, I want a muffler and some foot rest brackets to mess with
Make a license plate bracket that you can flip up or down with a switch on the handlebar so when you see a cop and you are going to run, you flip up the license plate and you are good to go.. Love the work you do!!
Seems to be a high quality build... but I'm not sure if this guys actually know what a cafe RACER really is...
Sören it's a cafe cruiser lol
They can call it a coffee shop dragster if they want, they do excellent work
Whats your muffler brand
10:45 didnt know Volkswagen made motorcycles?!?
With those clubman's would you need a new throttle sleeve and some kind of spacer for the clam shell controls to fit properly? (going from a 1" to 7/8")
The XG750 "Street 750" has 7/8" (22mm) diameter handlebars as stock fitment and the switchgear is different to all other H-D models. The turn signal switch is in the left hand side like metric machines, not left hand and right hand sides like on Harley's Sportster, Dyna, Softail and Touring range.
I was wondering if you make anything for a 2008 Hyosung gv250? Love your channel btw!🖒
Where we can buy that sit
What's the full cost for all those changes?
if u have to ask.... lol
+smasheddragon what?
+DaskAMVs saying goes... if u have to ask... u can't afford it.
I don't even have the bike or planning to buy it, just wondering, whatever.
I'd like to see some videos on your sportster . Looks good
Very nice that fat tire does look better. How much does that setup cost? The one with the custom spoke wheels
Shop owners bike is always last, if ever!
amazing work guys!..only thing i might do a little different is applying inverted forks for a smoother ride / better cornering as well.
I'd have to ditch the front fender as it no longer matches the curve of the bigger tire. Looks like a yamaka now.
Nice but not nearly enough lighting at the rear.
like the looks of the exhaust on the red bike better.... flows better with the big black shield... but the red bike really needs the taller tires...
tritowns I agree... but we do what the dealer asks for...
phenomenal job. 10/10 Wel done guys.
Just how much I‘d love to do that for a living. Great job, the bike looks astonishing
Cafe without a rearset?
hexcode rearsets not yet available for this bike. Plus we only had a week to do the entire bike... rearsets would also require different exhaust system. If we had more time maybe...
I think everything is perfect but when it comes together....... not so good maybe the seats are to long and you need a smaller tank
I'd like to see a hardtail 750.
Is your shop funded by Bartel's. You seem to have more tools and stuff than your typical independent shop would have.
I wish! just been doing this for 20+ years now.... so you tend to accumulate things over time...
Cool vid dudes! Great job with the bikes!! Even the background music is cool haha
good work given the source material.
Night and day difference. Very nice, look forward to more videos in the future.
I'm not really a Harley fan but have to say that these bikes looks great. Nice to see proper craftsmanship at work. Out of interest what kind of money does the custom work come to after purchasing the bike?
how much do you this k it would be to buy one of these bikes used and make it into a cafe racer?
Just buy a used bike and make it a cafe racer.
It'd almost be cheaper to buy a new triumph or Yama cafe than to use a harley Not to mention it's a harley with a Euro style.. Kind of redundant.
That front fender of bike one does not look like it fits the tire. Also, the exhaust on bike one doesn't blend in well at all. I think bike two actually looks better.
Wondering what a v& h exhaust would sound like
luv the SM Exhaust .
Sick so sick great build.
Chris do you know were sells seat to GN125 cafe racer??
larcenylukas tuffside.com... universal cafe seats. Measure your bike then pick the one that may fit. Nobody makes a "cafe" seat just for a GN125 so this is as close as your gonna get.
Thanks
best looking street 750 ever
It is really nice to see u guys doing this kind of work, thanks for share
take care
Nice Job Chris!
No issues with led signal lights?
Or do you use extra resistors?
thefirstdutchguy they work fine as shown if you leave front signals stock.
Good and great job.. very2 clean and clear..
i like it as a options package for a smaller budget. wich is perfect for a harley dealer standard stuff just doesnt cut it these days looks horrible the factory stuff.
totally digging what you guys are doing with the street 750.
Nice, but none of that shit would be street legal in the European Union.
My missus has a 750 street and its a canny wee bike, but it needs a better exhaust note, so I'm going to be treating her to one of those SM silencers.
+Tony BMW The SM was definitely the better sounding of the 2 in my opinion.
front fender is not going well now...
nice job..where did you take this rear light?
thanks
Nice work, and looks very well done. I think if I was to buy a new bike then pay for the custom build, you could then get a better bike in the first place, but I know it would look like other bikes, and we all like to be different.
Every one is doing short seat tail unit and has to be a harly boreing and nothing like a cafe racer
it looks just what a factory kit would look like
like the ace up your sleeve!
Come on Discovery Channel, where is Mr. Chappell's tv show?
+joentje292 its back in the early 2000s along with occ and jesse james
Thd seating position is going to be awkward with legs not perpendicular with backbone
How much would a modification like the black 750 run usually?
Pipes sound good,
where will i get the exhaust that you have used on black Harley-Davidson...??? can you plz send me the link to buy it..
Too bad I can’t just ship my Street 750 to you guys to have you customize it like that
The whole project would probably cost me more than buying another brand new Street 750
