    Hey Laurent! Informative review as always.
    I just wanted to draw your attention to a small error in one of the graphics. If all 16 phases put out 70A each, then the CPU should be getting 980 amps, and the total available value should be 1,120. You labeled all of the phases as being 70A, but the ones responsible for the CPU add up to 840A or 60A each in the graphic at 14:20.

      Actually the features of the board are completely sufficient for me (I will plug in one rtx4090, use one m2, and there are 3 2x2 usb's in the back, these are enough).
      The only thing I can think of is the number of VRMs; 16 for tuf, 20 for rog.

    Wondering a bit - new here and just watched the MSI MAG X670E Tomahawk WIFI review where the "had to flash BIOS before boot" was the big nono. Together with some other points where it sounded a bit like "well done Asus" vs. "gimme a break MSI" for the very same feature...

    • @Laurentschoice
      @Laurentschoice  Рік тому +1

      For me, these features needs to be put in context.
      If a manufacturer places an extr feature while missing fundamentals... it's a big nono.
      On the other hand, if all the fundamentals are covered and we get extra stuff... it's a kudos !
      That's why the same feature can lead to different appreciations. :)

I learn from my experience cheap PSU can't protect your motherboard from over voltage, undervoltage, over current, power lose and lightning strike.

But the Prime having an additional M2 heatsink. Button for releasing the GPU and clear CMOS and Power button on the board. However, it also has 1 ARGB header less, and the VRM coolers seem to be smaller/less efficient. Can't find anywhere if it has 8 PCB layers or not like the TUF. That's a common mistake.
      2 and 4 are the master dimms which needs to be popualte to activate each channel and have the best possible bandwidth access to the CPU.
      When you only have 2 sticks, and to activate both memory channels, you place them on position 2 (to activated channel 1l, and position 4 ( to activate channel 2).

    Hi Laurent.
    Do you know if this mobo can support a 2x48GB Corsair Vengeance set?
    I understand x670E in general now support 48GB RAMs but I wonder if this one too?
    I looked up the support page for this mobo and the RGB version of my RAM set is supported, but not the non-RGB (which is the one I'd like to get). I just have this thought that the support page lacks more RAM models listed because they haven't been tested (for example, ROG Strix Gaming has many of 2x48GB model listed as supported, including my model)...

    • @Laurentschoice

      It's absolutely true. The PCB is the same. The coloring and paint is different.
      The components are about the same. The only difference will be the "TUF" treatment which implies more robust chokes , audio caps , and surge protection.

    The chipset on this board gets extremely hot. on my ASUS TUF GAMING X670E-PLUS WiFi motherboard, the chipset temperature according to HWiNFO without forced cooling in an open state (without a case) reaches 80 degrees Celsius at an ambient temperature of 26 degrees Celsius (without any overclocking operations and when the system is idle). With 140mm Bi Quiet forced air, the temperature never drops below 53 degrees Celsius. This is epic fail!!!

      @@gugueta5 This is my first purchase of a platform on Ryzen and the last (after the discovery that the chipset consumes 7+7 watts and gets so hot), now only Intel, so I can’t advise anything. but if you still want to, then I would take a closer look at the msi x670e carbon wifi, because the chipset heatsink seems more massive and even if it also gets hot there due to the fact that the chipsets are located together and not under the video card, you can organize the airflow yourself (on Asus this is impossible because the video card blocks everything)

    • @deuswulf6193
      @deuswulf6193 Рік тому

      I assume you figured this out, but for anyone reading this, you must download the update to a USB stick, put it in the bios flashback USB port, and usually hold down the bios flashback button while the Mobo is off but is connected to the PSU. Usually, once the light no the back goes off, that means the bios has been updated completely.
