    The earlier vw engines always broke the dipstick tube if you touched it as it went brittle. Looks like much stronger now.

      That was a nice little surprise doing the ‘oil cooler’ & what is a little nicer is that when I done a code scan later I had egr flow fault’s 😬

      Took mine off and it was no way as bad as your one. It was about 20% blocked, less even. Didn’t really need cleaning but did it anyway. I was a bit surprised as it has 355,000kms on it. Must have been cleaned before, or I have a very well maintained engine!😃

    Is it normal that after replacing the oil cooler, oil change and topping up the coolant, that I got a message on screen after driving 20km that my coolant is too low again? I just filled it up and going to check tomorrow if it goes low again.

    • @kennedysgarage3281
      @kennedysgarage3281  3 місяці тому +2

      Yes, they have a complex cooling system with several individual compartments. It is a very common occurrence to need to top it up at least once after renewing the cooler 😉🙏🙏🙏

    Great video. Ive a mk6 gtd 170. Oil temp is over 100 most days now so goijg to change the cooler. Plus i recently changed the actuator but its still turbo lagging in full throttle, unless i double tap pedal. Was thinking throttle body clogged is causing that issue. Kill 2 birds with the 1 stone as they say 😂

    Hi bud just a quick question. I have a problem with my 1.6tdi what happened is i was driving the car hesitated and continued to rev and basically ever since there has been a hissing sound. Me thinking it was a blow in the exhaust i carried on driving. I was re gening the dpf when i reved ut quite hard to max revs. Then the hissing went and my voolant started leaking. And tge coolant seems to puddle up behing the cooler just on top where the oil filter housing meets the block behind that plastic coolant pipe. Just wondering if this sounds like the cooler or the block ? Thanks.
    I have no power issues or nothing just losing coolant quite quick and thats the one spot it will gather other than that it will drip at the bottom off the gearbox.
    Ive ordered a cooler anyways as its worth checking anyways and its done almost 200k miles.

      @@hamzaimran3263 I wouldn’t think it is the block as they don’t crack too often & is most likely just the oil cooler as they do fail being plastic 🤞🤞

      @kennedysgarage3281 thanks for your reply turns out the oil filter housing on the inside was cracked and the o ring was out of place. My next question if how would I diagnose if the coolant has mixed in the oil. I don't think it has because the coolant residue was around the oil gasket but not actually crossing. Basically has the oil side gasket that was stuck to the block rather than the housing prevented the failed o ring of the coolant side prevented coolant getting into the oil side ? Thanks just want to know before dropping the oil as I can't see it mixing but you never know. Plus I'm confident oil has not entered the coolant side didn't see any oil drops in the coolant and coolant looked as pink as it can get. Thanks for your help and time for replying much appreciated 👍
