- PLEASE CHECK OUT MY OTHER RARE PAT BENATAR AND LAURA BRANIGAN VIDEOS ON MY CHANNEL!
I recently bought Pat's debut 'In The Heat Of The Night' (1979) album, and I'm wondering if I'd consder it her best album.
Nonetheless, for me, it's a toss up between this, 'Wide Awake In Dreamland' (1988) and ' Crimes Of Passion' (1980).
Please enjoy!
(btw, this was recorded live at the US festival, 1982)
LYRICS:
In the heat of the night, when you know it ain't right
But you do what you wanna do
You do what you feel, 'cause no one can feel
Like you
Out in the summertime city, ain't it a pity
There's so much to tie you down
You're leaving tonight to somewhere you can't
Be found
While down at the edge of town
At a pool hall where they all hang around
You can hear them talkin' about the girls they knew
And talkin' about what they're gonna do
Then you ask yourself, is this where you belong?
Is it right, or is it wrong?
Does it matter what's right
In the heat of the night?
Out in the streets tonight, under the neon lights
You're searchin' for something new
But nothin' is real, and no one can feel
Like you
They say, eagles fly in this red hot sky
But were they just passin' through
Or did they look down, and see what you've found
Was true
But still in the back of your mind
You've got somethin' to believe in, but there's so much to find
As the bright lights dim, and the night closes in
You thought everything is ending, but it's yet to begin
And you ain't seen nothing yet
But what you see you'll never forget, and you'll say
Did it take you so long to want something more?
And did you never get off on this before?
Well, here it is the love you've been waitin' for
Standin' in front of you like an open door
And then you ask yourself, is this where you belong?
Is it right, or is it wrong?
Does it matter what's right
In the heat of the night?
In the heat of the night, when you know it ain't right
But you do what you wanna do
You do what you feel, 'cause no one can feel
Like you
Wow the way she delivers is why she is who she is! Extraordinary performance and so sultry - loved it.
What a great first album. This has always been my favorite song by her
I just listened to all her albums in reverse order, and yes, this is the Best One.
Induct into the Hall of Fame Now! Way over Due
Pat Benatar is one bad-ass pixie! Like someone else said, she and Ann Wilson of Heart are the two best women voices of rock
D7J7W7 p
totally have to agree...they both give me shivers listening. If only I were half as talented. I am for sure a fan of both, there won't be any that match them in my lifetime I think.
Check out smokies version
Without a doubt the best female vocalist that rock ever produced !
Ruatha58 Except for Michael Jackson of course .
Yes.
Complete vocal range.
Agree 100%!
Saw Pat, Neil et al in 1980 and it is still one of the best shows I have seen and the count is over 150...
In The Heat of The Night-Pat and Neal's best album, and still one of my favorites!
Favorite rock singer all-time! First concert.
My favourite Pat Benatar album and followed by the jazz True Love and Wideawake in Dreamland.
This is so RARE! I have this on DVD bootleg, and i am so lucky to have it! It's so nice to see these on youtube for everyone to share in the magic that is our Queen! Thank you for posting, I would have posted these myself a long time ago, but I have no idea how to break it all up into individual videos, so thank you so much!
This is an Amazing Jem , Thanks for Sharing this RARE Clip.
Very rare indeed. The live opening f this track is amazing. Perhaps one of the best tracks on that first album.
I was there dear lord my fav.singer at her god Damm best !!! Hot stinky high summer night I was just 17 1982 now may 2019
Fantastic. It's sultry & you can feel the heat on that stage. Great vocal ofcourse!
I was there. US festival in 1982. Pat was great. The sun had beaten everyone down all day. Tom Petty was the last act. I only made it through three of his songs.
a great song from her greatest album and hot and bangable here
This song was sick live!
SINCE U THINK IT SUCKED "LIVE" DO YOU KNOW THAT THERE IS A OFF BUTTON U CAN CLICK ON, ON UA-cam THAT WILL "STOP" ANY VIDEOS THAT YOU ARE WATCHING ESPECIALLY THE ONES THAT YOU THINK SUCK & THAT WAY YOU WOULD NOT HAVE HAD TO WATCH PAT SINGING THIS SONG "LIVE" WHICH U MUST HAVE WATCHED IT TO DETERMINE THAT SHE / IT SUCKED, OH & BY THE WAY...HOW WELL CAN U SING?...... Hmmmmmm..... THAT'S WHAT I THOUGHT!!!!! WETHER OR NOT YOU DO NOT LIKE TO HEAR HER SING (this song) LIVE TRY HEARING IT ON THE ALBUM OR CD IT IS ON?BETTER YET, WHY DONT YOU POST A VIDEO OF YOURSELF SINGING THIS PAT SONG SO WE CAN ALL LISTEN & WATCHTO YOU SING IT LIVE???
sick means good,dude
chris holland come down fool! sick means good. it was a great extended version and had a nice moody tempo. You need to calm down fool.
Chris Holland, do you happen to be in the 60 or older crowd? I'm 45 and I certainly know what "sick" means. Why don't you take one day off from work and just spend some time on anything involving vernacular that's been popular over the past 30+ years... My father is 73 and even he might know what "sick" means...
SIck means it was so fucking good it was 10 times better then the LP version. Best song of the show the 2 times I went to see her.
Thank you for posting
Best PB song IMHO. Thanks for posting.
The Queen
As a Smokie fan i say....
This is 10/10 !
You can feel the steam coming off the stage!
I was there that day 1982
Pat Benatar she best ever love her music. And her concerts
Soy super fan de Pat desde que tengo 15 años. Pero en vivo se oye biiiennn pinche!!!!
So excellent!
j'adore
US Festival 1982 San Bernardino
Excellent performance! But she always does.
Yes In the Heat of the Night was her best album. Later albums had way to much "wall of sound" and not enough Pat. I've seen other singers ruined by what amount to horrible recordings. I had the great fortune to see Pat in Lakeland, FL in what was probably 1980/1 and well remember what a beautiful singer she was in person. It was sort of a make up concert for her collapsing on stage the year before and she really gave it to us. Love her forever!
Wonderful! Thanks for sharing this with us.
I ♥ them!
WOW!
Yeah, I was there as well (notwithstanding my SN as that is the date of the Beatles Abbey Road crossing pic). This was the first US festival. I think it was the second day and the second to last show of the evening. I'm pretty sure Tom Petty was on deck at the time. I think the event took place in Devore just outside San Bernardino.
love the red-headed stepchild drummer.
He was the reason I got into drumming. I mimicked his stage antics which were unusual for a drummer, and at a Greg Bissonette drum clinic, he called Myron(T-rex), and hooked me up on his phone with Myron. One of my best days ever!
In my opinion...there isn't a bad song on any of her first three albums. To me the first three are all greatest hits albums.
love
Feeling that heat Patricia! Thank you. (OMG) SHES SO SO FΩΩΩNIG HEAT!!#
People change their minds how they want to live, appear, perform, work, play, etc all the time. Artists are not different. It's her life, she makes the decisions. Sorry if it didn't go with what you wanted or expected. It's a tuff life isn't it?
Best female singer of the 80's and sooo hot! Hottest ever!!
Hey Everyone if you want to enjoy this video without the graphic crap plastered all throughout? THIS is from the 1982 US Festival and there IS another video without all the additional visual crap! Enjoy!
Vasije hiti eto malenkije molitvi ....

Grew up on Pat Benatar and Sam Fox. Both babes, both great music. This video is fucking amazingly sexy, damn.

Not nearly as sultry and sinister as Smokie's original.
Old leopards change their spots. After this gorgeous sensual dare I say sexual performance she claimed she wanted to be regarded as an artist not a body. My own view is that a truly free society women would relish being regarded as sex goddess.
Then 🇮🇹 is a free society.
I believe at one point they elected....AN ACTUAL PORN STAR
Into Office.
Google THAT.
Then respond.
Good, but can´t beat the original In the heat of the night from Smokie and the voice of Chris Norman!
She just beat the original right here...live. Smokie can't touch this remake.
Smokie did this song brilliantly live.check out smokies Bradford City fire disaster concert 1985
So was von scheisse
Prefer the original version by Smokie.
Shame she had such a shit band they’re pretty damn basic she could have been so much bigger!!! That’s what you get for banging the guitar man I guess
