For a long time Christian Rap has been geared towards the Church, with the weighty, hermeneutical, approach. That resonates with those who are familiar with such things. Guys like Reach Records are now taking that same message to the world, to people who've probably never cracked open a Bible or set foot in church, and/or are opposed to doing so. They've never gotten introduced to the milk of the Gospel and the Word, much less the meat. Gotta meet them where they are, as Jesus did with us.
How can people like the Andy in Ayo more than this? Music like this is Andy's roots the lyricism in this song is incredible even though it's not super catchy the skill is on point & the message is fire!
Found it! Did a search on bing and it led me to Da South's website. (UA-cam won't let me put in the link, but if you search for Dj Pdogg underground mixtape it should come up.)
How could, Creator, Come to Creation. Save his created, In the frame of a son. Dude, this is so powerful! I got these lyrics all over my tongue all day! Cant wait for the Album to drop! Dope hearing Piper too. This joint is so hot!
You never outgrow your need for the #Gospel Don't ever think of the gospel as that's the way you get saved & then you get strong by leaving it. And doing something else. We are strengthened by God through the Gospel everyday til' the day we drop.
James 1:17- Every good and perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the father of light. with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
Don't worry, Ayo is just one song on the album, many other tracks that may suit may. That said, the lyrics in Ayo have references to several scriptural verses and teachings, once you take the time to listen to the lyrics. Someone asked if there were any on a video thread, I went through the video and found at least five lines with biblical references, someone may find more. So don't fret, the message hasn't been diluted, they're just carrying out the call of Acts 1:8
Problem is there's a contigency that believes all facets of ministry must be carried out inside the church, when the Bible teaches the importance of evangelism, going to where the non-believer is. For centuries Israel was nomadic nation, taking the temple with them. Jesus didn't build a temple, but he went to those who needed Him. Paul said to become all things to all men. So while me do need to hold strong to the Gospel, we must also deliver it in a manner that can be heard, like the parables.
people aren't necessarily ditching the Gospel. they are putting the Gospel into a more complex and subtle message so that it sounds "commercial" to reach nonbelievers. a perfect example is Long Way Down by WLAK. i love Long Way Down and it sounds pretty mainstream. but if you think about the lyrics it is Christon Gray directly addressing the devil
yeah this song reminds me of "SIN IS WHACK" mixtape...we need more of this in Christian Rap, its cool to have fun on tracks like "AYO" but we lacking the Gospel in alot of Christian Rap today, everybody seem to be going "Commercial" just to impress/cater to the world
I like both, actually. There are several biblical references in AYO, all it takes is going through the lyrics to find them. I found at least five after going through the video one time, someone else may find more...
the beat on ayo to me is better than this one but his flow and word play on this is better than on Ayo and cuz some people only pay attention to the beat then they would probly like ayo better
Andy Mineo is truly a brilliant lyricist.
We are strengthened by God, through the Gospel everyday
