You do have to spend some time setting the saw up... blade, fence, etc. But once done, the saw is great. Fairly compact which is Nice ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxXh-4_3-ZT1fFWP91ZV7iVqzElr0lEb-a I did get an Incra Miter Gauge which takes some setup as well. The stock miter gauge can be adjusted in the miter slot with a little painter's tape... this tightens up the side to side play a lot.

A friendly correction, the circuit breaker does not protect against overheating, it protects against electrical faults, for example if you overload the saw or the motor gets jammed, it will trip off the breaker, instead of burning the motor

The saw needs final adjustment when delivered. The "marks" on the nut holding the blade on are supposed to be there. Any nut with these knicks indicates its a left hand thread.

I really enjoyed your video. I’ve had the same saw for years . I got it as a hand me down from my brother so a few bits were missing, it was awesome that you went through everything. I had no idea what the circulate plastic mechanism was under the bench on the left . It’s just a storage device 😲. I didn’t get any of the under bench attachments when I got it, so I was thinking it was some kind of protractor tool 🤦. I just cut square cuts so never really investigated it . Now the mystery is solved . Thankyou for your precise dedication to discovering the whole tool.

I bought that saw 4 months ago, the quality is really very poor, thanks to several people on UA-cam I have been able to improve it, it is misaligned from the factory, 0.85mm, I recommend that you take a good look, all the videos that I have seen speak ill of the machine.good luck.

I enjoyed your unique reviewing style. Well done and entertaining. I'm a Makita fan and I have many Makita tools, but that saw looks sloppy. The fact that it's made in China also turns me off. I'm in no mood for Chinese made products these days. I'm very happy to pay more for better quality, made in a different country.

I agree, I’m a huge Makita fan but it seems that you have to be a mechanical engineer to understand all of the idiosyncrasies of this saw as the man making the video was able to show all of the flaws of this saw, but the average guy like me would never know to look for all these things. I want to spend the money to buy a good table saw and have it working out of the box, not have to retrofit the whole darn thing, file down poorly fitted pieces. The video was terrific, but I’m very disappointed in Makita having a saw w/ a lot of slop in it and other things not lining up or being correct.

@@rkfarmranch8214 I am a wood machinist and I work on a $250,000 saw and you always have to set a saw up properly or the company that supplies the saw will do it, but no saw comes reedy to use and if you don't understand how to set these up than you should not be using one because they are like a mongrel dog and they will bite you if you if you don't respect them. I see untrained people using these and I know they will loose fingers soon, even my Father, my Brother and myself have lost fingers on table saws. They are not toys.

i have one and I'm stuck with it. The best bit is the cart. The saw itself is crappy. The fence is poor. The mitre slide wobbles by about 4 degrees. The slide slot is non-standard and you can't source a good aftermarket slider that will fit in the slot. The riving knife doesn't allow you to cut slots. The knife itself has to be cut down to get rid of the safety guide attachement protrusion. Mine doesn't have soft start and I wish it had. The hard start is really harsh and I'm always waiting for the worse to happen. Dust collection is really, really poor and there is no easy way of improving that. I'm making improvements and mods to mine, but the expense is adding up and I wish I bought something better right from the start. this is not Makita's best effort. At bests, this is a mediocre job saw for rough carpentry work on site.

I haven't tried that, but with the correct blade I suppose it should be OK. The saw has plastic components also, so be cautious not to melt something with the metal sparks.

You need a triple chip blade for cutting alloy and rub wax down the line where you are going to cut, but the saw will cut it.
