I find it very refreshing to see that people still can agree on some things, giving hope for the future.
Many years ago, when I was a regular league bowler, we had a deaf team in our league. They were cool and were a very good team. I remember them fondly to this day.

I grew up in the 70’s in Austin Texas across the street from the Texas School for the deaf football field. I watched them play for years. They were never great but if you compared heart to wins and losses, they were incredible.

I used to play Racket Ball with three deaf friends. The arguments were very interesting! LOL!
What a great story! I cannot imagine how hard it is to play football deaf. Think about it. On a hearing team, the QB, can call out signals or change a play at the line - for example a QB is lined up for a running play, but sees a defensive formation that would be vulnerable to a pass - he can't tell his line to switch from run blocking to pass protection - they can't move when they are in their stance, and can't see any signal. It is similar on defense.

That's actually true. They rarely have FALSE START penalties because they practice in such a disciplined manner. I don't know if it is true for this team, but many hearing impaired teams use a big loud drum on the sidelines to signal the snap of the ball. I wonder why they need to be seregated from non deaf players though? Surely theres a few players with hearing loss in the NFL
I do not know anything about American football but if i had to compare it with European football i would think it would be very hard to reach a top league in Europe for a deaf player.
Even in full stadiums that produce a lot of noise, you can often see that players communicate with each other during play, It can be just a scream to signal when to play the ball. Or a goalkeeper screams to signal his defenders to move out of the way. I am not sure if sound has the same importance in American football as it has in European football

I just wondered if communicating with speech in American football can be as useful as it is in football. I just said European football so Americans would understand what game I meant, because the rest of the world calls this beautiful game....Football...and for us the distinction is the word American.
I cannot help that the US is the only country in the world that insists to call our sport soccer and their own American game football. I have no idea why your game is called football? they rarely touch the ball with their feet......maybe it is because they run?......I have no idea.

In fact field goals were attempted by a dropped ball kick at that time. When you say European football it makes me think of rugby or the old NFL football league that you guys had over there

It's fortunate that they can't hear the cries of agony and pain of the children that they hurt. If they did, many would not participate in the violent game. It was developed in an industrial age to teach workers that if a worker is hurt or killed, the line must keep moving and not shut down.
