    Nice laydown.
    In think if JRB had folded to the flop bet Dwan would have raised since his "face-up" range is middle pairs...like 99. But with two in the hand a bluff is less likely to work.
    You're right the Q of hearts is a bad card to have in that spot, but that's ultimately what likely helped him find the fold and saved him some money. A blank on the river would have seen him bet and JRB would have called and won.

    Can you make a video on how to play against a table full of people who go all in? It might just be my luck but every time I play poker tournaments I get into a situation where people go all in early to mid-game and in the end you have someone with an insane amount of chips and as long as they play it safe they are almost guaranteed a win.
    I can’t find any videos on this topic and I am getting fed up with people going all in for every turn.

    • @k14pc
      @k14pc 5 років тому

      i think the strat is to just wait until you have a premium hand, like maybe TT+ AK, maybe AQ, something like that, and then print money. if it's early/mid tournament you're not losing much in the way of blinds by folding non-premium hands to shoves, so you can just wait for a monster.

    I like the small bet on the turn. JRB could be floating, have worse hands some AQ’s and some draws. If he checks and JRB bombs it he can’t fold given the draw. If he is beat or bad river comes he minimizes the damage. It’s a pot control / blocker bet and ended up working out for him. If he was bombing they could have easily got it in.

    Doug, since the suited broadway hands are so much stronger than the offsuit broadway hands, doesn't it make more sense to 3bet with the offsuit ones as a bluff and call the suited ones? This way, when you get 4bet, you can easily fold hands like KQo, while if you 3bet with KQs and get 4bet you're gonna hate your life. I know it seems counter-intuitive to raise with worse hands and call with better, but the way I see it is you're much happier to take a flop with better hands, and much less unhappy to have to fold worse hands, if that makes sense.

    JRB should raise the turn. I disagree with just a call. Why call AQ preflop to hit top pair top kicker to only be afraid of an overpair on the turn? That’s why you don’t raise the turn? Because the fear of an overpair or the same hand? Why call preflop if you’re in fear of a better hand that yours? What else are you hoping to hit? You can argue a flop raise, although I think a check is fine. But he bet 1/3 pot, giving 4:1... a raise from JRB would find out exactly where he’s at. You’re letting him in with a flush draw and 2-pair draw, or a possible JT to get there. If he has an overpair, now is time to find out when the price is cheap and you’re in position. Not allow him to bet himself into getting a 4:1 when JRB calls, knowing well that he’s getting better than 4:1... 100% disagree.
