Y’all have done a LOT of work at this home! I didn’t realize it was blue until you cleaned everything! I love the whole vibe of the place, the stone looks nice!❤❤❤
Great job, as always. Nice instructions and attention to detail. If you were in Texas, I'd hire you to do this to my house because I know it'd be done right. Nice job.
Nice, I like that, really makes the house pop. I have a 50s brick home that needs something like that. I tried one of those foam caulk tools last caulking job, omg where have these things been my whole life 😂
i like the sealed look because the color of the sealed stamped concrete and block walls are warm toned so the sealer on the stone veneer brings the warm beige and light brown undertones out of the cooler greys you see in it when unsealed!
Stone looks nice up against the walls. I liked the sealed look, too. A couple of recommendations. When installing the stone, use a 1/2" notched trowel. Apply the mortar on the Durock, and back-butter the stone as well. That way you are more likely to get closer to 100% bonding. You'll have voids the way you did it. Also, the caulking you used @ 12:57 on the top is ALEX. That's a low performing sealant that really should only be used indoors. I know it says exterior use, but it really isn't. In that heat, it's going to dry out and crack very quickly. You need to use an elastomeric sealant like Dynaflex at the very least. A better sealant for that application is Big Stretch. I use that a lot on exterior applications and it is superior to any other latex caulk I have found. Another good sealant for exterior is Vulkem 116. It's a polyurethane, so it's harder to work with (not water clean up, use acetone and mask off the edges). It has a sand texture, so it works very well next to concrete and concrete products. It is paintable, as well, but wait a few days as it takes longer to dry. That caulking tool is no good either. Use a damp sponge or rag to work the latex sealant. Use your damp finger, too. That tool obviously made a mess and a less than satisfactory end result. The ALEX caulking will probably start to fail in a matter of weeks. I would let it dry, then scrape it out and use Big Stretch or Vulkem 116. Vulkem is more permanent in that environment. Big Stretch will last a long time, but will have to be maintained in the future.
The caulking is holding fine and is rated for outdoor use. Regardless of the type of caulking, you will always have to inspect and re-caulk when needed. A good coat of paint will also prolong the need to re- caulk.
@@OdellCompleteConcrete It's still going to dry out and crack in no time at all. How long has it been installed? It's the absolute cheapest caulking on the market. Like I said, I know it says on the tube it's for outdoor, but it's really not, especially for that application. Can it be used on the exterior? Yes. Should it? No. Spend the extra few bucks on a good elastomeric caulking, and it will last much longer.
Lucky it doesn't rain much in Arizona, but I could see the wood frame under the window rotting over time. The cap doesn't look to be sloped down to allow water flow away from the house.
since there was no wicking material behind the hardibacker the sealer is a must in my opinion but I think it does look better sealed than natural. I'm curious if you used Consolideck or some other sealer?
I prefer the look with the sealer. That white caulk looks horrendous though. Not sure how well that would work over here on the east coast without an air gap or any weepage going on. But it looks good other than the caulking.
Glad to see you guys still posting! Thank you sir! I could use a consultant for a ten foot retaining wall. Is that something I can contact your business with??

Great work Dave Doug n James. Bummer about the bad block work. How did you cut each of those for the bottom course? Grinder? Or tile wet table saw? 🤔
Lots of wedges and custom cuts

Thank you so much!!
Unsealed for me, sealed is flashy, unsealed is beautiful. It's all a personal choice.
Top job on both.
Either will work, really depends on the surrounding areas
That is just some beautiful work! Does my heart good to see this quality of work in the land ! Thank you Odell thank you!
Many thanks!
Sealed 😊
Both of them look nice because it depends on the person eye and how they want it to look.
I believe you're right.

Great work. Your a true stonemason.
Thank you kindly
Natural look brother nice work.👍🏻🇺🇸
Nice work for all involved. I slightly prefer the unsealed look but sealed looks great also.
You and me both!
I think it’s gorgeous either way. Looks fabulous. ❤
I think so too!

also the warm tones that come out when sealed complimented the dark pastel navy blue perfectly!
Great description

I like it sealed up, keeps it looking new!
I concur
I think the sealer brought out more of the blues/greens in the stone. Great job.
Definitely enhances
Nice work. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
So nice of you
Amazing.. sealed really pops the colors..
Yes it did
sealed looks great!
Looks like it may be a split decision
Love it SEALED... looks TERRIFIC, Thanks for posting

Sealed gives more of a sharp tone to the stone. i like it more. Looks very nice.
Fair enough!

MUCH better sealed, and adds a nice pop to the stone.

Sealed. Also, I would have used the grey caulking on the top side of the stone instead of white. Looks great regardless 👍
I considered that, but it will be painted blue to match house
Lucky it doesn't rain much in Arizona, but I could see the wood frame under the window rotting over time. The cap doesn't look to be sloped down to allow water flow away from the house.
I lot of things can rot if caulking isn't maintained
Does the lacquer sealer blister and flake over time?
No
I'd go unsealed bro nice home is coming along have a good week g
Thanks, you too!
Sealed looks best IMO

Nothing but the best, where you can only get it in Las Vegas
I prefer the Unsealed look, looks natural
I hear you

Can you remove the siding and placed the cement board..
I don't recommend it, but if the siding is bad then I would do it
Thank you ! Looks great
Paint over that blue with a darker green! 👊 Great job!! Tks! Great tips! Next Video!! 🤦♂️😅🫡🔥👌
@lennyadamowicz7642 it's a possibility
I like the sealed look. But I would not like to have to redo it every two years. But if needed, I guess I would try to remember it needs to be done.
Good points

Overthere you may want to tuck some flashing
Isn't thw concrete capstone too thick? It is only caulk holding it. I know you are in a desert, but water will seep between the capstone pieces?
Not likely, with glue, screw and caulking
I'm for the sealed look! How are your boys doing? Any future vids from them coming soon?
There in Georgia at the Makita convention
@@OdellCompleteConcrete 👍
Unsealed, I prefer the softer dustier color and do not like the wet look at all. You are correct, it's all about personal preference though.

mostly protects the cap and stone

Unsealed seems more natural.
Yes it is
Sealed is safer and looks more expensive
True
SEALED.

should have used gray caulk.
It's all going to be painted blue like the house
Unsealed , less disco
Good point, no maintanance either
I would leave it natural
Split decision
Job looks great. The white caulk job at the top damn near ruined the job. Break out the blue paint!!!!
Blue paint is going on next for touch ups.
Made in Pakistan.

Your chalking job is a mess.
Why would you say that?
@@OdellCompleteConcrete Easy, 16:47 smeared excess grout on the wall, as other locations. Looks a mess.
