I like your channel; very informative, no stupid music playing in the background, no fluff, no cutting to irrelevant pop culture clips or photos to try to be cute or entertaining. Your audio is perfect, you speak clear with no filler words, vocal fry, uptalk, or slang. Just fabulous! Most channels are pretty awful and just unwatchable.
I appreciate that!
It is so very sad to see how Cresson Sanatorium has been forgotten for what it was truly built for and has ended up falling to pieces like this. To think of all the lives these buildings have touched and saved is truly heart breaking. They do not deserve a fate like this they are a part of history that needs to be honored and cherished such a sad ending for a place that gave so much life to so many.
Something odd is going on up there with the current company. They just started spamming emails seeking sponsorships. I wonder if they are going to lose it too. :(
I live only 30 minutes or so from here. And I never new it existed
Had church friend, now deceased, who had TB as a child & was isolated in a santitarium for a long, long time. Always had weakened lungs.
If the walls of these places could talk.
I only discovered you recently. I really like what your doing. You seem like a chill guy too. Keep up the great work. If you love what you’re doing, then nothing else matters.
Welcome aboard! And I appreciate the kind words.
Love the videos Scott! I just discovered you recently but I've been recommending your channel to all of my friends. I'm really grateful for your entertaining and informative videos.
Welcome aboard! And thank you for the kind words.
I have been liking and sharing...and just signed up on Partreon!
My great-aunt was at Cresson with TB and a former coworker spent much of her childhood there with her mom. Both of them with TB. Ruth was eventually cured, but her mom passed away.
Bastet... YOU are not the target of my Self Promo Ad ;) You have been there for most of the channels life and have been a great contributor to the ODDySEEy on the viewership and my "virgo needs a pat on the back" syndrome. :D Thanks for being there and thank you for joining as a Patron. I have learned to become a starving artist and part of that is giving money to other starving artists (yes, I do, LOL, and I shouldn't, but cannot help it).
@@ODDySEEy LOL...I'm doing the starving artist thing too, just with Etsy, craft shows, and conventions. ;-) Hey, I enjoy your content!
looking fwd to part 2!!!! this came out great, this was one of my favorite explores, this video was easily the most informative of this place ive seen great job
Jay, I wanted to add the tour into it and realized I had 2.5 hours of footage and looked back at the History talking head portion and saw it was 17 mins and was like... WTF... So, decided doing a 2 part would be better (and as YOU already know, 2 part and 3 part videos get hit hard by UA-cam as a no no... so I am stressing it).
Great Work as always Scott. Can't wait for the second part.
I really wanted to get the second part into the first part... but I have over 2 hours of footage and want to cut out to only the best of the best parts. Historically, me breaking a video into 2 or 3 is highly non-beneficial for the channel... but there was soooo much AWESOME at this site (and I only hit 4 of the 20 buildings).
you do an excellent job on these videos. Keep up the good work!
Thank you... my attempt is to bring you as close as you can get to being there (although, I don't know if anybody felt how frickin cold it was on this day, LOL)
Thanks again for another informative video especially related to infectious control and the paranoia that sometimes accompanied it both today and in times past.
The hard part is keeping the demons down inside my head that cannot decide if it is modernly all planned out because it worked in the past, or if it is generally the same mistakes made by an extremely slowly evolving species.
Very very good video Scott. Lookin forward to part 2.
Coming soon!
I'm really enjoying all of your content! Excellent work!
I will do my best to make sure you remain entertained :D Thanks for watching.
Can’t wait for the tour Scott! 😃
You won't be disappointed.
Pretty cool Scott! I have been wanting to do the tour for a while.
Next weeks video will be the really fun part of it. I was able to hit 4 buildings in 3 hours (out of 20 buildings). I will most likely go out again... but not at 26 degrees with 30mph winds. (it was the last day it was open for the year).
Scott your awesome I watch your videos and then go to these places keep posting
That is awesome :D Hopefully it enhances the trip by knowing what you are looking at when you get there.
Well done. Great video. My mom works at the mount up in Cresson. Boy it sure is another world come winter.
My daughter, "aid to the ODDySEEy", laughed at how when we came off the mountain just a 3 mile trip, the weather went to 35, low wind, and lots of sun.
I have heard of this place before & some of the stories coming from there ( have relatives who live not far from there). It's great to see the place that I have heard about!
Thank you for the information about this place !
Interesting!
Great video.
Thanks! It really is a great site to go see as well.
Thanks for the adventure scott..quite interesting....place really deteriorated..
That was just the HISTORY. I did not want to spoil the actual tour by making a 1.5 hour video :) Next week will be all the good stuff of the site that I could find in 3 hours across 4 buildings. And yes... paint spall is one thing... but in a LOT of area's the concrete has fully deteriorated to powder.
@@ODDySEEy when I worked there in 93 to 96, it was beautiful, it had 100 yr old oak trees all over the prison, if u see E block I worked there and above the medical building, I forgot what that building named, but that's where the nuts of the nuts of the nuts lived when dr.cho cut the psychiatric meds from nuts of nuts on E block..money making scheme..head of psychiatry at cresson prison just had to pay 75 grand for something, I dont remember anymore
@@brianwalter7387 Everyone keeps telling me to go to E block... what was the significance versus all the other blocks on the campus?
And it is a shame that all the old trees are gone. Being that you worked there, I think you will be blown away with how much deterioration has actually happened (not so much in the Cell area's, but in the old buildings)
@@ODDySEEy E block was where the psychiatric patients were, I remember a c.o had a dog leash on an inmate, the inmate actually thought he was a dog, c.o.was lucky to get away with it..sad but true
I worked there as a NA in 1972.
Thank You for helping those in need. :)
My brother served time in that prison. The drive there was horrible.
What did you find so bad about the drive?
This would make a bomb bed and breakfast though
There are actually several BnB Prisons where you PAY to become a prisoner... complete with wearing the garb and lights out and 3/hots and cots.
Also Dr's Sam & Mark Bailey on Odysse.
MD Andy Kaufmann too.
Next you will say Andy Kaufmann died.
Bravo… we’ll done.. as usual….
Make sure you tune in for the tour :D
Just found you. Like, subscribe.
Thank you and Welcome Aboard!
Cool videos. Can anyone visit these places.
So far 90% of them ;)
That's my last name 😉 I'm from Louisiana
