- pattiaustin.com The Grammy award-winning singer Patti Austin recorded "We Fell In Love Anyway" with Cleve Francis. Cleve is an American country music singer, and one of relatively few African-Americans in that genre. Before beginning his career, he was a cardiologist; he switched his focus to country music in the late 1980s, signing first to Playback Records and later to Liberty Records.

Beautiful. Hope you play in DMV this summer miss you
Patti was always good at duets! Her most famous duet is "Baby, Come to Me" with James Ingram! An incredible singer she is! Cleve is good too! Too bad he didn't get the attention he deserved!
Please don't laugh at me lol. I was awakened by this song from a nap. I immediately began weeping, nothing was wrong at all. It was just so beautiful from the first note until the last. I've never had a song move me so much out of a cold start. It still moves my heart strings.
I'm from the UK, Cleve is not all that well known over here, or as far as I am aware anyway. However, my father saw this video on CMTV (Country music television) and loved it, so me and Mum bought Cleve's album You've Got Me Now. When I was 15 my father died, this album was played constantly by me around this time. I loved it and learnt all the songs off by heart. I have recently downloaded it again as the old one got lost, and I remembered every song perfectly. I love this song for that reason.
When Patti sings a duet its guaranteed to be mesmerizing. Thanks for the post.
Love
Nice song ca xx
Absolutely love this song ~ Cleve Francis has a voice like velvet and is too under-rated ... I could listen to this one, over and over again ... *sigh* ... Thanks for the posting!
This gem of a love song is my wife and my song. She found it on an old cassette and we tracked it down on cd and it has been a song with special feeling and meaning for us. It is such a lovely song.
BEAUTIFUL ROMANTIC DUET!!! 🌹🕊🌹
Love this song Patti! This song reminds me of my love for Kathy! We met as friends but fell in love anyway! We've been together 26 years now and we're still in love!
I've listened to this song repeatedly and never knew Cleve Francis was a black man which goes to show you that good music is color blind. Good music is just that---good music. Always loved Patti...she's just my girl! Was researching black country singers and Cleve's name came up. Who would have thunk? Would love to hear an updated version of this song...just beautiful! Love the video concept.

I can see me dancin' with my baby cheek to cheek with our love for each other expressed by these voices and these lyrics. Thanks for the ride into the heart of my Annie :-)'

I remember this song and I have always loved it. I saw your tweet this morning to Darius Rucker and saw your UA-cam link on your Twitter page. You have a great voice and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Patti has always nailed every song that she has sung through her career!
AWESOME DUET!!!
Was this a pop hit? I know I've heard it, but I don't remember hearing it on country radio. And, unlike Cleve's other songs, I wouldn't quite call this one country. I don't know what to call it, but I like it.
Kenny Rogers recorded this song too.
