    Gotta give huge credit to the editors of The Bear that there’s a lot of fast cutting and a lot of characters yelling over each other and you can still tell what is happening and the overall geography of the scene.

    I liked this scene a lot. Felt like this fascinating clash between the chaos of the restaurant and the adolescent bliss of their romance, and Claire got to see Carmy do what he does best: resolve conflict in a heated environment. She got to step into his world.

    I love how unfazed Claire was. Really shows how easily she could fit into Carmy's life and how well she already knew him and his family's history. I hope Carmy fixes the mess he made because deserves a shot at happiness - and he was really, truly happy with Claire.

      What did you think of Claires reaction to "hey Ive got a crazy idea" ? Metinks she would like to have done something else and the look on her face does it read "hmmm that is crazy". I'm right with coolguy - Claire is his ray of hope, sanity, and a rock to have .

      @@bdjdi2686I actually didn't read too much into it. To be honest, I think she was happy because Carmy inviting her to see the restaurant was his way of opening up and letting her deeper into his life - which was what I think she wanted and loved.

      @@ttmt98yeah she really got into the little details of the restaurant. The scene after this one was cute, when Carmy shows her the plan for where everything goes and smiles and goes “Im sitting on the Chefs counter😁” or something like that. That was really cute

      I think Carmy invited Claire to the restaurant, at least in part, to see how she’d react to the chaos he knew was bound to be brewing there (but, of course, he also wanted to share the restaurant with her because it was personal and special to him). He had once seen how she was good with upset people, like calming down her emotional friend at the party. He’d been impressed. Sure enough, at the restaurant people were fighting! I really do think maybe Carmy wanted to see how Claire would handle it - would she be negatively reactive and jump in the fray, or would she back away and let these folks try to work things out? In response to the raucous scene at hand, she rather meekly stood to the side and stayed out of it, only calmly introducing herself once Carmy had gotten the situation under control. Carmy was obviously happy that Claire didn’t seem fazed or turned off. I wouldn’t imagine he’d have wanted to kiss her as much as he did if she’d involved herself; for Claire to get involved would have been lumping herself in with the dysfunction and chaos in Carmy’s life, creating an unhealthy association in Carmy’s mind.

    Claire appears when he needs to do something important. When she appears for the frist time he is strarting to renovate his restaurant, she keeps appear ever time when he needs to stay focused on opening his restaurant. going out and trying food ides for his menu, types of Plates/plates setting, and calling the fridge guy, she appears. Claire is written as a distraction.

      I don't mind her but she seems too good to be true. No baggage, the patience of a saint (I mean, he gave her the wrong number), from the moment she saw him she's nothing but "come hither" looks. Not the actress's fault. But if their relationship continues I hope she's fleshed out more as a real human being with flaws, not an angel on a pedestal. One of the major strengths of this show is that most of the characters have big flaws and baggage, but they're still relatable, human and basically decent people. Claire's just too saintly right now. But maybe in Season 3...

    Claire was a cute moment of Carmy trying to experience a crush from his past. She's sort of a memory. That "cool girl" that cannot be made real. She is not his present or his future. But someone, someone clearly IS his partner and CAN speak his language and is already sharing that future vision and he's handed over 1/2 the restaurant to this person. And when he's having a panic attack it is the image of HER in his mind that calms him down. And her name is not Claire. The writers could have given the audience this straight out the gate but, my guess, they know we're not ready for it. Claire was a plot device, a distraction. You want the main meal? Look somewhere else.

      The actors and i think the writers even said Syd and Carmy arent getting together. (“I dont think the fans are gonna get what they want.”) Which goes back to the fact that The Bear isnt THAT kind of show. It really is ab anxiety, gen trauma and perseverance, NOT a soap opera like One Tree Hill/Euphoria or something. I actually think Sydney is gay and I would rather not like see her having to deal with the likes of Carmy. She doesnt deserve that after all shes been through BEFORE Carmy (she hinted toward an abusive boss in season 1). If they were end game it literally needs to be at the end of the actual show when hopefully everyone is healed and thriving. No one needs romance right now they need healing

      I agree with another commentary, that some people are not in a good place to be in a relationship. It's not about "deserving" to be in one, it's about not being mentally healthy enough. Relationships take work. I've heard plenty of people talk about bad relationships they've had where it was clear that they were part of the problem, it's nice if the person doesn't have to learn that the hard way.
      Also, it's possible to be happy and single.

      wait WHAT? you can't be serious. she fits perfectly into his world! she introduced herself to release some tension. clearly, she was just introducing herself only to Syd since both Richie and Sugar know her. also she has known carmy since childhood, she knows his family, she knows his family's friends, so she knew this argument was just how the berzatto's operate and the situation was not serious. carmy is an anxious mess and a ball of spontaneous energy. having someone like claire around really balances his energy out. also he is constantly surrounded by people from the restaurant, claire is like a breath of fresh air, someone who he isn't working with, someone he can have conversations with outside of work.

      Sydney was so clearly jealous and therefore started to put these thoughts of doubt in Carmen’s head and how he couldn’t do his job. The only thing she did all season was make a menu where Carmen and Natalie had to everything else, oh and Carmen also had to do the menu because she couldn’t do that.

    • @kroakie4
      @kroakie4 4 місяці тому +11

      Sydney wasn’t jealous. She was pissed because first Carmy blew off his outing with her, when they were supposed to be developing the menu, and now he’s invited the very girl he shirked his responsibilities for back to the restaurant. So Sydney probably feels like Carmy is being insensitive to her needs. They’re business partners and need each other’s input if they’re going to do a good job. Carmy just left Sydney hanging and that’s not what a good boss does. Sydney could have been nicer to Claire, sure. But I don’t blame her for being a little annoyed. She should’ve directed her anger toward Carmy, however.

      From an in-universe perspective she was fine (besides teleporting to the freezer door with perfectly wrong timing), from a writer’s perspective they spent so much screen time on her (and Carmen failing to balance work/life) just for a soap opera ending that clumsily shows you can’t be dedicated and maintain a personal life.
