    Maureen's story is far from tragic! She has overcome a lot in her life and now, instead of wallowing in self-pity, she is out working to help others overcome the same problems she has faced! I say more power to her!!
    You go, Maureen!!

    I really appreciate Maureen's honesty about her life, while growing up. I am sure there were a lot of kids out there who wished they could magically wake up in the Brady household. When you hear of the battles she was having in her private life, it makes one more appreciative of the fact that we need to fix our own back yards instead of wishing for someone else's. She's survived so we can too.

      It was entertaining, but even at 11 I knew it wasn't realistic. At that time my mom was on her second husband. I never called him dad. And she rarely saw him cause she travelled so much. Ironically their divorce came through in 74. The last year the show was on the air.

    My family owned a restaurant in Boerne, Texas in the late 90’s. Ann B. Davis lived in a town called Kerrville not to far away. One weekend this woman and a friend came in for lunch. We were all going up to her saying wow, you look exactly like Alice from the Brady Bunch!! We all gawked from afar while they enjoyed their lunch, but as soon as they were finished we swarmed her like flies, asking for pictures. The entire time not one of us thought it was really her. We thought it was her doppelgänger. We we’re all commenting to one another about how nice she was and gracious and that she must get that a lot looking so much like “Alice”. 😂
    After they walked out the hostess at the register that ran her credit card came running up saying that was ANN B. DAVIS y’all!! Look! She never once let on that she was indeed the real deal lol she let us carry on thinking she was a dead look alike.

      @obscurelyvague 6 років тому +3

      "Kay Mitchell" That is very true. But also, though Maureen McCormick did have a certain level of fame, she was not as "rich" as you might think. A lot of the actors of 1970s sitcoms and other TV shows were actually paid very little for the kind of revenue that they earned the TV executives, and/or the Networks and or other people or companies that made money off of merchandising off of a popular TV show . When The Brady Bunch went off the air, all of the young actors found it hard to get other acting roles because they were so typecast that directors believed that putting one of the Brady kids in a serious movie was bad business. None of the yong actors of The Brady Bunch went on to become wealthy. Mike Lookinland reportedly started a business making and selling decorative concrete. Chris Knight does sporadic low key TV , radio and movie work.. Likewise for Barry Williams and Suzan Olsen. Eve Plumb has tried to evade connection with her part in The Brady Bunch. Maureen McCormick has of course done things such as used drugs and even sold her body to get drugs. Now she is making some money after writing a book and telling her story but she is actually not wealthy, not like other celebrities. But come to think of it, a lot of celebrities who were millionaires or billionaires in the 1970s like Elton John, Cindy Lauper and Billy Joel, eventually filed for bankruptcy.

    I had no idea Ns McCormick struggled with so many addictions. I also am a recovering alcoholic and drug addict with other addictions, too. NOT fun, but as long as you stay clean & sober, a day at a time and continue working the process & program from a support group, just wait. ... many miracles WILL happen! Not only with alcohol & drugs, but with any addiction. Sobering up, getting yourself clean ~ working your way out if ANY addiction takes a TON of guts! I highly respect Maureen for facing her many demons head on and fighting threw to the other side to meet freedom.
    Congratulations, Maureen McCormaxk!

      Not really my personal belief is that Eve is homophobic or at least she was raised in a homophobic household. Maureen could have had girl/girl encounters but she made the mistake of confiding to Eve about them not knowing that Eve was anti gay all the way. Her kissing Eve on the cheek after she told Eve about her girl on girl encounters would make Eve think that maybe Maureen was trying to hit on her and eventually bed her.

    • @anglobostonian
      @anglobostonian 5 років тому +45

      Eve Plumb is absolutely NOT homophobic. Many of her closest friends are LGBTQ and she has supported marriage equality and LGBTQ rights for decades. The problem is that she and Maureen have NEVER liked each other and she has never fully accepted that she will forever be know as Jan Brady to millions of Americans who grew up watching her. Eve has said on some occasions where she has been willing to talk about her experience on "The Brady Bunch" that the rivalry between Marcia and Jan on the show was 100% true to life and that she has never liked Maureen. When Maureen wrote her autobiography in 2008, the ONLY "Brady Bunch" cast member who isn't thanked in the acknowledgements is Eve. That alone should tell you something.

Eve has enough of the Brady stuff and moved on. Some of you morons are unbelievable, or as Bugs Bunny put it, what Maroon.

    • @mwilliams1330
      @mwilliams1330 5 років тому +15

      The fan mentality is just moronic. Eve has said in many interviews, "It was a job." Meaning life moves on. Yes if there were financial opportunities then she would attend reunions, because it is a job. How many time do we have friends we work with, they quit, we say "stay in touch", but over time you never see them again. That' s reality, moronic fans think that these guys should have been best friends forever.

Not sure, but she was erractic and paranoid even though WE had no intention of intruding upon or outing her for WHO she was. She graciously posed for photos and then vanished back into the throng hopefully unnoticed and proceeded on her "vacation" as did we. Everybody knows what an addiction like that will do to you, how come people are not scared? I have drunks in my family, i would never accept myself becoming like them. Who would? Taking up drugs after seeing someone you know using them is like burning your house down after seeing your neighbor`s house on fire. Makes no sense what so ever.

    Nice too hear the follow up, after her career! Even celibrities or actress's, and actors, don't have a perfect life. The old saying is. Life is Like a Bowl of Cherries, Only No One Said or Told You. It Wouldn't Have Pits In IT. I wish Maureen McCormick the best in life, and her Future! Those formative years of 12-17, on a very popular TV Series had too be very rough for her? As they would be for anyone else as well. Those years are our most precious, where we learn so, so much about people, the world, who we are, and also how we think we want too turn out. In those formative years if you don't have positive, and good role models around you? The influences of the real World can just swamp you under. Thanks for the opportunity too view and hear her Story. Wyoming, Robert, 🇨🇦🇺🇸🇨🇦🇺🇸😎😎😎😎🌹🌹🌹🌹👍👍🙏🙏

Once you become 'famous/financially stable' GET HELP!!! A cracked foundation continued to crack until it all caves in!! "The Stuport" while I was growing up I saw other kids and teenagers who were not famous and who were not in show business and were not in the public eye like certain child actors are, and a lot of those other kids and teens I observed throughout my early life grew up very dysfunctional and did things like drop out of school to sell drugs on the street, went to jail, committed crimes, attempted to murder people, got venereal disease for being promiscuous, had children they did not plan on having, became domestic abuse victims or abusers, attacked their parents, and died of overdoses.
      As much as there is evidence, circumstantial or not , that early fame and fortune leads people to self destruction, the fact is that for decades it has been a rite of passage for a majority of young people to do exceedingly self-destructive things . Also growing up in the culture of poverty, has the same elements of broken homes, lack of responsible role models, and just an inherent demoralized trajectory. Anytime before modern civilized life and before the "drug culture" came about was not so innocent and wholesome and happy either. Alcoholism practically always existed. People have always fallen through cracks or they push themselves through the cracks.

    No one can really understand drug addiction. Why ppl get started. Some start out as recreational use. Some start drugs to dumb mental pain. Some actually start prescription drugs for real pain.
    Then, doctors start writing all these prescriptions. The government has really clapped down. Here's the backlash it costing: many who have real pain, have been cut back or cut off. It's caused suicides. Many haven't the resources for help. It's saddens me, it really does.
    You see all these stars addicted to drugs. Addiction is really bad. When Robin Williams committed suicide, I cried so very much. He had some kind of dementia/alzheimer. That was thought to be the real reason, why he did what he did. But, he was deeply depressed. He did fight alcohol and I think drug addiction throughout his life. He was a brilliant man. One of the funniest men. He was a true comedian. And Seymore Hoffman, Heath Ledger, etc. And, many more stars, and entertainers have either committed suicide or accidentally overdosed.
    My family has been touched with both depression, drug addiction, and alcohol. So, yeah, I can certainly identity. Most everyone has a close or distance family member on drugs or alcoholics. Drug addiction doesn't discriminate. I do believe Jesus is coming soon. The world is out'-of-control, like I've never seen. We are becoming divided. Race against race, it seems to be on the rise, again. Politics has certainly divided us. There's way too much. God Bless us all Lord!

    I met her in the late 1990s, she was very strange. She had purchased a high end antique bench from where I worked and I was tasked to deliver it. When I showed up at her house somewhere in the San Fernando valley she acted like I was a serial killer or something. All I said when she answered the door was "Hi, I'm delivering the bench you purchased, where would you like it". She looked scared and desperate, pointed to a spot near her porch and slammed the door. Then she returned the bench 3 days later. Weird lady.

      Haha, no. I'm white. She was certainly odd. It's been awhile since I read it and it's not the kind of book I'd read again, so I don't remember everything...Eve claims it wasn't completely accurate and it put Eve (Jan) in a bad light. Also there was something Maureen said jokingly on a talk show, but Eve didnt think it was funny. So although I loved watching Maureen/Marcia, on the Brady Bunch, they're REAL HUMAN BEINGS, and Eve may have good reason to be upset. But since Maureen has tried to make amends, it would be great if Eve Plumb would forgive her. It's always a shame when such good friends end up in a lifelong fued.
