One thought on your buttons. In the military and sometimes for fancy buttons they create buttons that can be removed (not sewn on). You could get the base (removable), then use that as the backing and epoxy the opal onto that. The advantage here is when you wash the shirt/suit you can remove the buttons to prevent damage.
Osmel Raga if both edges of the placket have button holes instead of just one you can connect one fancy button to a plain one (probably a bit larger for safety-it should be too big for the hole) with a thread shank. Think of the setup as something like cuff links but oriented in such a way to lay flat like a regular placket. This way it would only take a minute to remove the fancy buttons for washing and it would be just as fast to reattach them. It’s also possible to sew the buttons to a strip instead of individually to plain buttons which would probably be a more practical idea but that would only work with the one shirt as the button spacing would be fixed.
@@missingallmymarbles7670 hoooo I stumbled upon a good one here! I'll read this carefully on my break after work. Also I really like magnets, there must be a way to incorporate magnets though it will be difficult
Osmel Raga magnets may work for some jewelry and purses but remember, they can mess with electronics. Especially if a person is using a medical device, magnets can be EXTREMELY hazardous to one’s health and life. The practicalities of shirt fastening means that you’re very likely to lose magnets (and thus the expensive buttons) and if you tried to leave the magnets in the shirt, it would be impossible to wash it. Guess who has forgotten magnets in their pockets before...they LOVE the drum in the washing machine. Magnets also tend not to stay closed all that well unless they’re extremely strong...maybe not quite as much of an issue for a guy than for a girl but still, it’s something to take into account. In general, unless absolutely needed for a certain special effect there are much simpler and more user friendly options for fastening clothes. They may come in handy for a stripper’s routine for example-much less noisy to rip off than Velcro. Edit: lots of time making things for theater, tech, and a lifetime of sewing things. I have a fondness for weird ideas.
I only know about opals what I've learned from your videos, and I LOVE watching. Fun, funny, educational, and interesting. Thank you so much for sharing with us!!
Dude so much fun watching what you create both from the stone and in the form of an informative entertaining video of opal goodness. I always love the videos you create. Thank you my friend. So much!
“In a viscous game of beer pong”, I laughed my butt off! Seriously, where did it go? They turned out really great, not that I doubted you for a moment. I’d totally wear a shirt with buttons if it had opal buttons. Thanks for always making me laugh! I’m still envious of your cab machine though! 😂💗😂💗😂
Only a very competent lapidarist would attempt such a feat and do it with such great humor! I hope the young fellow who receives this incredible work appreciates it. I inherited a large button collection (over 500) from my grandmother, most of which are 50 to 150+ years old. Not one is made of opal. You must be the first to make opal buttons, and with four holes no less! Congratulations! They are very beautiful. Thanks for an entertaining video.

I used ethiopian opal beads for button clasps on the ends of my bracelets:) this is an amazing idea! I have been working on a dress for the last 8 years (only working on it for about 20mins every other month.lol) im so glad you posted this as i would love to add a few opals to it for when its finally finished. Lol thank you so muvh for sharing!
YOUR RIGHT 100% OF THE TIME. I love watching you and your geniuses mind at work. BTW Your nephew is very handsome. The buttons are great and you made a great choice.
Yay!! Another video! Wow... and I thought you were gonna do a non opal video, but this was interesting and very well done. Those are so tiny... reminds me when I used to paint 1" stones to look like animals.
I love opal! It’s my birthstone, and if it wasnt I would lie and say it was, it’s the most gorgeous stone ever! And while I wouldn’t wear them, those buttons looked amazing! You did an amazing job, I hope the guy thanked you for them!
Beautiful buttons on hideous shirt with hideous-er red yarn thread. Whomp whomp sadness. (Ps; picture beautiful crisp white cotton shirt with blue green opal buttons sewn on with matching thread.)
Awesome Donald, you’re a great Uncle. But wait, doesn’t the kid still needs some opal cuff links? Then might as well deck him out with a loaned insured matching ring, and belt buckle and beautiful pendant! 😂😂😂😂😂😂 Have two nurses from my doctor’s office that cleaned out all my closest’s and medicines and top middle Jewerly drawer to organize everything. They went crazy over the Opal you were able to get out of that box I sent you. Did you ever try to see what was lurking under the burst of color under the black Opal ? It was rounded on one end I got to the color and having no saw quit. That was the one opal rock I thought you would pick to see what might be hiding under it! You could make him a belt buckle with that flat brown stuff if he could identify it as a test. 😂😂😂😂😂. Love your videos
You are so dang funny. Loved seeing a new video from you. Quite a challenge you had there, but challenge accepted, and completed with style. My personal favorite: “The full screen viewing of the air quotes” Be sure and tell the dude handwash only 🤣

You always have such clever and informative videos, yet you always keep them light and funny. What can be better than learning about opals and other things while getting a giggle or 2 out of it. The buttons turned out to be beautiful!
That is amazing. Hopefully the buttons and the shirt last a very long time. I imagine it be as precious as people who make historically accurate outfits eveylittle things has so much meaning to them. I loved the video
That's amazing! You did a beautiful job on these buttons. I kinda wish I hadn't seen this though because now I want some buttons! LOL! 😃 Will laundry soap negatively affect the stones or will they just dry out and be ok? I imagine the shirt won't be worn or washed often but I assume it could be flipped inside out and washed on a gentle cycle inside a pillow slip. I used to do that with a blouse I had that had delicate porcelain buttons on it. I'm beginning to learn about gemstones and really enjoy your videos. Thanks for sharing!
Wow that is awesome yeah but making amount of real black opal wow that expensive for 7 love how you made them out of opal but not as expensive love this video amazing and I'm amazed how good you are at cutting wow 👍👏😀😁😎
