I own this exact bike. I would gladly buy it all over again. Was more than I was planning on spending but now that I own it I wouldn't want anything else. The fork is great, I have had zero issues with it. It's a striking metallic teal that looks even better in person trust me. I couldn't be happier with this bike.
Lovely colour and very nicely made bike. I bought one exactly like this a few weeks ago. It's also a 2021 bike (bought used, but I thought it was new at the shop because it is so mint!) Love it!
@@aquilararmando The gx chain has Nickle outer rings and black oxide inner rings for better strength. The lower tier chains have multiple stories of busted links. There is also a negligible weight saving if that matters. I just wanted the durability.
@@BikeBrosBikeShop couldn’t agree more. I would love to get more of an All Mountain/Enduro HT but this would probably get more use then a super slack Chromag.
My wife and I own both bikes. The 2021 Fathom 1 29er and Fathom 1 both in size M. Bikes are unreal except for the fork so far. If you do your research you will see that the new Crest fork has a knocking noise on even the slightest compression. I have a warranty claim in as we speak. Other than that they nailed the geometry on this bike as the 27.5 and 29er are almost identical other than wheel size as stated in this video. Also worth commenting that was not mentioned is that the 29er fork is slightly longer than the 27.5 in the lower. Therefor you can run the 27.5 tires in the 29er fork but you cannot do the 29er tires in the 27.5 fork. The travel however stays the same at 130mm. It is an identical bike other than the wheels/tires and the fork (which does translate to different BB geometry). Other than that great review of the teal 2021 27.5 Fathom!
Thanks for the feedback and thanks for watching. We've had a couple of the fork issues but got them sorted. I was actually wondering about the frame after the last review. In previous years the were different. This year with such a shortage We've never had a 29 and 27.5 in at the same time to compare.
Hi, if I get the fathom 27.5 wheels, Can I put a 29 wheel on the front or the fork is compatible for 29 wheel. Because I prefer mullet 27.5 rear and 29 wheel on the front. Thanks.
Dear BB team of i need ur guidance!! I have a giant escape 3 and the drivetrain has gone off!! N I don't want to sell of the bike just because of that!! I wanna change the drivetrain what should I do??? I would like to have a MTB group set
I think everyone's ideas of what jumping is changes a bit. I wouldn't hesitate to get some air but my guess is that this isn't the strongest bike out there in this category because it is quite light still. Bikes like the Marin Alcatraz are heavier which may make them more jump-worthy.
I have had good experiences with both. I am not a fan of SX derailleurs. I am a huge fan of Deore. I like that SX lowered the price of wide range drivetrains but now that Deore exists I think it is the more reliable option. I think an NX derailleur is going to work well for quite a bit longer than SX and I personally used NX on my fatbike for 2 seasons and it was flawless.
Not too sure. It was an issue that only happened occasionally and unfortunately we haven't gotten any of these bikes for so long it is hard to gauge. Giant looked after the problematic forks pretty quickly on the few we reported.
At least that's a nice blue finish....not ugly flat blacks or whites that looks like every Specialized, Trek, Walmart...still boring as hell, but acceptable. For the bang tho, go with Vitus.

Could you squeeze a 2.8" tyre in there ?? - thanks.
"A pile of quality" That needs to be the Giant slogan!!🤣 great vid!!!
I just picked up a fathom 2. Had to drive to LA from AZ to get it. The bike shreds for sure. Was worth the drive and the 1400$
I just bought this bike. 2021 version. First good mountain bike, I am absolutely stoked!
Good choice!

Very nice!
I ordered that exact bike. Week 14 can't come soon enough
Thanks for this video I really enjoyed it, considering this bike it looks great
Glad you enjoyed it
Damnnnnnn you really don't got any bikes left in the store eh. Good job keep it up
Thanks for this. Just bought this exact bike. Cant wait for the weather to change. All I did was put a sram gx chain on it.
Congrats and thanks for watching.
Just asking why are you changing the chain/ whats wrong with the original SX chain?

Thanks I can get a Saint Quentin right now only 👍👍👍 great help awesome reviews keep it up 😎
I’ve been thinking about getting a modern hardtail. I currently have a 2019 Trance 3 and love it. This would be a great addition!
Thanks. It is a great bike. A couple of us at the shop talk about the Fathom being a great base to build a really great fancy hardtail.

Bought one today..black/charcoal I'm stoked!!..my wait time is 11 weeks till it gets to the shop
How much time left until you get it ?
Jumping from the three meters of high .still landing softly.feels .pro! Looks

Wow, just wow.
So theoretically, if i bought the 29er and later wished i had bought the 27 instead, then all i have to do is switch out the wheels?
I got me the phantom 2 on rosewood, love the color 27.5 size love the ride
This bike will haul butt. Pretty!
Yup. One of the shop staff is planning a fully customized version next year.
Great review! What’s your thought on the 27.5 vs 29 inch for a bike such as the Fathom?
27.5 for fun 29 for speed, just my opinion
@@aquilararmando I think that's a really fast and good definition.

Could someone squeeze a 2.8" tyre and 35mm rims on this bike. Is the chain clearance enough ??

780mm width is the published specification

Can you fit a chain guide on these ?
Has Giant solved the problem with tapping noise in the Giant Crest 34 RCL fork?
Not too sure. It was an issue that only happened occasionally and unfortunately we haven't gotten any of these bikes for so long it is hard to gauge. Giant looked after the problematic forks pretty quickly on the few we reported.
What has been discovered is that the forks were being shipped dry !!!! Once they were oil They are nice
Any idea if this can fit pannier racks on the back?
If you were really set on doing panniers, you could find a way but certainly not a thing they focused on with the design
OMG! A hardtail, what a novelty!!!
We legitimately get excited to see a hardtail show up... and if it isn't presold we're high fiving.
How does fathom 1 compare to fathom 2
Great review !!!! I agree not an entry level bike Like some have commented
Hello! Does Giant sells Fathom frame only? Thanks (in advance) for responding!
Yes
This looks more solid I think to handle a 3,000 watt mid drive kit. 😁
Can anyone confirm if this is an xc or am?
Just bought a new one for 1500.
Killer price How do you like it ?

Fathom 1 or roscoe 8?
I will fathom 1 because people had been saying the rear hub sucks
With the Roscoe 8, the rear hub sucks. Not the fathom 1
