Damn Brad, I used to look forward to your videos cause I always thought you had some good thoughts, but you're simply incorrect about the MMR system. MMR will reduce those instances you pointed out in 1:40min. Doesn't matter anyways though cause the game had its chance, and all the people who have no jobs and played the game for 60+ hours a week ruined it for everyone else.
I'm trying to understand Brad's take myself. If people are more equally matched then stat checking will be less of an issue. That wizard will have to risk a lot more gear to 2-tap that lobster fighter. That barbarian won't be able to W key roll over people as easily in their move speed set and grey barbs are slow AF so they're balanced. Grey gears won't be getting one-tapped by geared rogues and low geared rogues won't run into 80% PDR fighters that take 20+ hits.
I certainly don't think the game is dead but I'm having a hard time understanding why MMR is such a bad thing other than the 1 in 100 chance you actually make a big play or find a dead lobster. The other 90 times hitting "go next" after getting one-tapped aren't fun and get washed from your mind unless you tilt and quit like most of the player base has.
I also played the Cycle Frontier and MMR didn't kill that game; RMT, shit balance, inertia, and RAMPANT cheating did. *Literally* every lobby had some body hachetting the entire map until 80% of the player base died and they region locked China. Watch youtubers like SomeKindaDog have constant fair and fun fights and he still wins most of his fights; if he had been shitting on grey armors with a brute like they were PVE it would have been boring af. Dog also never complained about MMR or equally geared opponents, he complained about cheaters and bugs.
i felt like i was going crazy when i started hearing that MMR killed the cycle as if i were suffering from memory loss or whatever from my time in that game. then i realized people have been parroting whatever X mechanic and citing the cycle since EA launch as some sort of proof said mechanic will kill this game. but yeah, MMR isnt even remotely on the shortlist of reasons why the cycle died rofl.
It rlly depends on what will determine ur mmr I’d assume it would be for getting out and for killing players for additional but who knows they have a weird way of doing stuff sometimes. Tbh dudes just a crybaby just watch one of his streams
Not only can you use the voice chat icon to determine if there is anyone left in the lobby, but you can also use it to triangulate people's positions from a distance
At the start of the game, if you hold down on the voice button, you can get it to activate then disable itself
It only works when playing solo.

I felt for that cleric at 15 minutes. These guys hardly play and try to get a little gear and you just have to ruin the game for them because you have gear fear. You can't go in high roller in fear of dying. The games dying because of people like you. I don't wanna loose my kit so I'm gonna go in goblin caves and make AT MAX almost no profit. I've taken a god tier barb kit into normals and it didn't even feel fair at all.
That's up for the devs to fix, it shouldn't be up to the players to "play fair" (which is arbitrary anyway).

I like your content but damn that's a terrible take on MMR. Do you really think this game will succeed if they balance it around what the top 1% of players want? If they don't instate some kind of MM system then its gonna drive all the casual players away, and you'll still be stuck with all the other sweats.

But if you wanna improve, and learn something other than stomping people with no gear, the basketball scenario you explained is the dream scenario for improving. Playing against other people on equal footing gives you the chance to improve at a faster rate. The whole argument of "Everyone cant have gear, so as long as i have it, its fun" is just pretty dumb.

So this video was just whining about how high rank players are knowledgeable and can play around their strengths while also understanding their weaknesses? You can bring up "player count" by saying you arent going to bring it up... but for an indie game that was forced off steam and is still not in full release they are doing quite well. Here I was thinking the video was going to be some cool rogue outplays, instead I played myself by watching it.

full loot with ranked system is a recipe for disaster. Once you increase your mmr you just get farmed by high-end chads with infinite gear. Just look at hunt showdown. Once you reach 5 star you get matched with people using only the best of the best and you get farmed by higher mmr players.

Mmr plus content is being made so not like they focusing on one thing here. Also high skill players rolling on casual players will ruin the game even further since the casual player base is the highest amongst any game fyi.

Bruh now at least they have a fair way of balancing classes at a high skill level, as opposed to random inside testing. If rogues are underpowered as you said thatll be aparent thanks to distribution of classes in the mmr ecosystem.

Its early access and you had no part in creating any of what we're playing now besides offering a small fraction of support. Let the developers make the game and enjoy early access or don't play.
You play normal goblins in purple gear. You are part of the problem this game has. It's not like you, as a new player, are jumping for joy, dying again from a purple idiot who needs to boost his ego or from children who have to team up because they themselves are dying from goblins.
MMR is a fine addition for the average players. It helps us not get stomped by Uber geared players in normal crypts
MMR defeats the purpose of these types of games I installed a week ago and often get stomped by people with better gear its a key part of the learning process and I'm tired of people crying for MMR to exist in every game

Your argument is basically "If you don't wanna fight me then you're poor and bad at the game". Well duh, not everybody is out here streaming or looking to get 1v3ed by you. What do you suppose can kill a game faster; you and your tier sharing a lobby, or you same guys creating a miserable experience for new/other players? That said I agree they shouldn't add MMR just yet, not until it gets more players anyway.
Mmr is legit to stop the over geared people like you queing into 80 percent naked lobbies instead you will be forced to play with people at your gear level or a little under it, it really shows when you were betraying no kits in gc your already over geared betraying is pointless you just want people to quit

The only people that ever have a problem with the concept of MMR systems are the ones that are over-performing. An MMR system isn’t put in place for players like you, they’re put in place *because* of players like you. The majority of the player base isn’t at your level so it makes more sense as a business and a gameplay experience to cater to the majority of the player base. That means regulating how often top players have the opportunity to plow through everyone else.

Hey Brad, the tip you gave around 11:30 actually doesn't mean you're the last one left. It's based on proximity so you may be the last one left around your area, but i've seen it pop back up from time to time in my games and it just means there's no one nearby you. Hope this helps!
I feel like ranked could only makes sense if it just replaced leaderboards and isnt tied to high roller. Otherwise high ranked wait times will just be way too long.

Completely agree with Brad's view about MMR. I am a new player with only around 100hrs in the game (so then far from farming players like Brad) and even I appreciate the diversity in playstyle and skill, the tension, excitement to extract with an upgrade and if you do run something good it would be completely stupid for everybody else to run good gear too. Otherwise my ''good gear'' is not that special anymore it becomes the new default necessary to be able to match everybody else. Also why if I have good stats need to constantly sweat against players that do the same? Plus that there is a lot of rng involved in the game and 3rd partying or teaming etc, so that ''op'' gear is easier to lose than you think to bullshit. So yeah an mmr system especially gear based would be absolutely shit in an extraction game like this.

If you look at a game like tarkov it doesn't have any sort of skill based matchmaking and geared players have a huge advantage over non gear players, but they're not invincible. The devs need to figure out a way to make it more like that. Then again in tarkov it is possible to avoid geared players while in DAD with the zone it can be quite difficult because everyone will get pushed together at some point.

It depends what you're running. Strength and agility are obviously very good, but a poison weapon rogue gets a lot out of will. Plus will helps your MDR and debuff duration so it's helpful on rogue, who has like 7 base will.
Mmr is the result of the backlash from gear requirements.

MMR is trash in any game lol.. People forget MMR is the reason why we stopped seeing CoD commentaries from Scump and other great players and majority of CoD content is bot lobby shit.
Tarkov had to change in-game mechanics to fix issues like this (destroying a certain style of gameplay) and people still find ways to abuse it.. now imagine if they had MMR.. the game would literally be dead.

It's interesting to see people berate Ironmace and call them incapable when they're doing changes to class balance, yet there's no worry that they'll fuck up the MMR system which is hundred times harder to get right in a game with so many variables.

The problem with rouge is everyone hates them so much they dont wana admit they need a buff. Me personaly id improve health and will while nerfing the amount of steps you can take in stealth. You can kinda walk 4 miles with stealth so you dont even need to ambush someone you can just walk up. And it lasts a whole half a minute

I mean, the excuse that they balance around trios is valid, if you choose to play the weaker class against players who play the stronger classes in solo, you have to make some sacrifices. I enjoy the content and the challenges rogue brings, and share the same frustrations as far as solos goes. At the end of the day, the good fights and outplay is worth it, but going against a powerhouse who is also a good player just means i have to escape or rat or 3rd party them. The days of 1v1ing every player on any class on rogue are essentially gone.
