Liam Vickers: I will not have dogs being harmed in my horror series. Also Liam Vickers: I'm going to have my main antagonist skin a child and wear her as a skinsuit
Funny thing, he described a dog being flayed I think in one of his audio novels, though it was only a few sentences, unless it was a cat, haven't heard the book in a while. It was a small animal. Just a few sentences to convey the horror of a world being torn apart on a reality bending level. Course that's the SSTWL universe, not his cinematic universe.
I think the reason Cyn is so liked is because she makes us feel so many different emotions. While she isn’t my favorite character of all time, she has made me feel more emotions than any other character. She can make us laugh, she can make us think she’s adorable, she can disgust us and make us fear her all at the drop of a hat.
N and Tessa are my favorite genre of character: innocence as their greatest strength *and* their greatest weakness. Through their kindness they change characters around them for the better and those characters become very loyal friends, but the minute they find a person or force who is completely cold and unforgiving (like Cyn), it’s over for them
FINALLY! Finally someone got a great take on Doll’s story! Not just saying “Boho the writers wasted her entire character” No. personally, I see her as a darker reflection of UZI. An Uzi who was alone from the start, doomed to fail at the whims of a psychopathic skin puppet wearing monstrosity also known as the Solver. Thank you for being the one who finally made a great point about Doll
Yeah, I don't think her character was "wasted" exactly, more like she suffered from a general flaw of the series speedrunning its plot and not giving as much breathing room for characters and development as I would have liked. For me, her death felt like if V had stayed dead after her sacrifice, so technically a mostly complete arc, but missing something key to making it truly FEEL complete if that makes any sense. Also, I think the way her corpse was shown in the end of episode 8 left a bad taste in some people's mouths and I think that's part of why Doll fans reacted so strongly to how she was treated.
I thought her only purpose was attracting DDLC fans like how when Glitch Productions/the Lerdwitchagul brothers were all on their own they had to give Tari a barefoot form in order to lure foot fetishists to watch Meta Runner.
My issue with Doll is the way her death was handled, NOT that she's dead. She's indeed a very sad character when you think about it and the show pretty much ignored that and turned her into a joke in the end credits. Literally any kind of acknowledgement of her about how screwed over she got by the AS like the rest of the cast would've been alright imo.
It’s a small detail, but there’s something uniquely unsettling about the fact that it’s machines becoming flesh (instead of the other way around.) One of the best moments in the series was in Ep 7, when we first see Uzi is actually bleeding, not just leaking oil. It’s a shock, but also something that has been going on under the surface this whole time - remember the suspicious red stains on doll’s bathtub. We saw Uzi’s change, but we didn’t realize how deep it went beyond the wings and tail. Ironically, as the drones become more like us, humans, the creepier and more uncanny they become. (CYN-Tessa being the pinnacle of this)
@@Datsyoashley That’s one of the cool things that makes to show so re-watchable. There’s also something to pick up on that you missed earlier. It ties into other hidden details, like posters in the school revealing that Uzi’s generation were brought up to hate organic life - which just adds to the self loathing when she says “I’m gross” after first getting her eldritch form.
Imo the somewhat cringey dialogue is a feature, not a bug. It adds to the character's personalities, especially N and Uzi because both are outcasts, but because of this they were able to mesh really well together. It kind of reminds me of that quiet, socially awkward friend who isn't good with people but you just understand.
There’s a reason why N is my favorite character. It’s not because of his attitude, nor about his trauma, but about the sheer depth of his character. And his attitude and trauma only serve as compliments to his bigger character. And Tessa? Well, at least Tessa wasn’t alive for most of this horrific story. She experienced one horror and then f***ing died. N can’t die even if he wanted to. Cyn had backups that she can use to just bring him back. It’s as J said “you know there’s no escape, even in death”. So while Tessa died, N is stuck having to live with every single horror that has ever happened to him. Forever. Basically, take any Murder Drones character… that character has been traumatized more than any human would be able to handle. It’s almost funny to me if it wasn’t so horrifying. Murder Drones is an amazing show, driven by amazing characters.
The theme is one of the biggest reasons why the show drew me in, it's got probably my favorite portrayal of eldritch/cosmic, dark sci-fi and biomechanical horror that legitimitely looks amazing. I really wish we got more stuff like this in media, the show has made me realize how much I actually enjoy that theme. Looking back at Liam's previous works, I wouldn't be surprised if the only reason both him and Glitch didn't lean even more into it was because it would get flagged for graphic content by UA-cam. Because... y'know... *A TEENAGER'S CORPSE GOT GRAFTED AND A BUNCH OF BIOMECHANICAL ROBOTS ATE HUMANITY.*
murder drones is and always wlll be my favourite show for these reasons. i kinda hate that it's been almost entirely eclipsed by digital circus in recent months, but even so, it still holds its own. there's nothing like it, and i dont think there ever WILL be anything like it. it's just too unique and can't be replaced
AJ said the song was actually written to accommodate the footage so no wonder it lines up. He did the same with Solver Uzi too, you can tell by the loud thud noises.
Murder Drones and the other standout examples of indie animation is what happens when you throw perfectionism and demographic pleasing out and make an idea that you really want.
the reason liam was able to pull it off so well was because he literally spent years messing with this genre and getting feedback in the shadows until glitch just decided to pull him out of his semi-famous state and turn him into a legend. if you listen to his work on SSTWL, there are so many similarities and old content he recycled, it was just a bunch of rough drafts
Was looking for this comment. I specifically fell in love with Glitch and other indie animations because I'm looking for quality so hard to find in Hollywood (with the exception of Arcane and the Spiderverse movies)
@@Zenimations-oy3vv That’s the point! It’s a cringe anime OV but it fits perfectly, especially with Uzi’s whole character arc being her accepting herself.
Funny, informative, well-edited and clearly made with a ton of passion and energy. Very well made points. Murder Drones itself feels like the culmination of everything Liam has made before. Cliffside and Internecion Cube clearly laid the groundwork for a lot of what would later be refined and re-shaped into the series we all hold near and dear. Cyn/Tessa in particular feels like the final form of Liam Vickers character design.
I watched the pilot ep of murder drones when it came out with some friends, thought it was alright, and then completely forgot about it and didn’t watch it until a month before the final episode’s release. If you had told me back then that the story was going to involve eldritch and biomechanical body horror in it I don’t think I would have believed you. Or if I did, I’d be very skeptical of the quality. And yet it’s absolutely one of my favorite animated series. It’s a bit rushed, yes, but holy smokes. The horror is top notch, and I’m such a big fan of the quirky dialog. The final battle being done to a theoretical Nightcore song felt hella nostalgic as a kid who grew up in that era. Uzi feels straight from the 2010s and it’s great.
Because of my interests with 'Murder Drones', the manga 'Leviathan', the series 'Autodale' and some previous art Ive done - Im beginning to realize that I might be a Bio-Mechanical Horror fan. I mean that could be why I gravitate towards this kind of media as I know Im not exactly drawn with the more generic horror like 'slashers' or 'generic zombie' films.
the 2 scenes u talked about (the one playing BITE ME in ep 8, and the one with Eternal Dream playing in the back in ep 6) gave me chills and still does
Gods man, this video has some of the cleanest edits I have seen in a very long time. You know what, excuse me while I run through this video again to time stamp some of my favorites. 1:02 Such a clean cut from Tessa catching the cleaver to the Cin Tessa amalgamate, I had to run this one back even on my first watch. 2:28 I just find you getting cut off by the scream to be funny, great waaaaa-, nice comedy. 3:00 Great bit, having you complimentary commentary fade into the background as we fade into the beachfront desktop and then into the actual chilling scene. Great work 6:57 This is just an incredibly accurate comparison that I may or may not steal for an art project one day. Great work all around, far from perfect as another commenter has already given you constructive criticism for, but by the gods do you have potential. You already got a guy telling you about things you need to improve on, so let me be the guy that tells you to keep going. You may be small now, but if you keep this up, I for one, think you can make something here.
I don't think the biomechanical part stands out that much there are some clever aspects in combining classical horror tropes with a scifi twist but much of it us jsut apply horror to robot setting and biomechanical aspects in body horror or monster horror existed before whats more of a standout feature is that its the first time this kidn of blend of horror and comedy got a full series you can see the same thing in liam vickers earlie work some of it features ai characters, osme of it features no technology at all but its all built around hte tension between horror and comedy and cahracters that are simultaneously cute and terrifying and the idea of befriending somethign thats entire purpose is to kill you and just makign hte best of that absurdity
3:38 , This scene is really giving me the same vibes as that one scene from the TellTale Jurrasic Park game where one of the characters fights a dinosaur with faint music in the background
This video was very well done and well put together! The audio mixing is masterful, the overall content of the video is interesting, and the title and thumbnail does a good job hooking potential viewers! I do have a few notes on some things you can do to potentially elevate your content. Do take this with a grain of salt since I am just some guy on the internet, but just know that this is coming out of a place of support for you and your content and what I think it has the potential to become. Overall, these are just some thoughts I came up with while I was watching. I mostly have only 3 notes. My first idea is simply to shorten the intro, a full minute is too long for some viewers and they're gonna leave after getting bored, especially if they aren't already Murder Drones fans. My second note is that when you say that no one else gets the genre right, it can often help to provide some examples of some other series that attempted it to less than stellar results. My last and final note is that this video was essentially an overview of everything you loved about Murder Drones, like the music and characters, which is very nice, but I felt like a lot of that didn't tie in super well with the video's main topic of this being a genre no one else gets right, and I think it could help if your points were a little more focused. Remember, content/entertainment is all about promise and payoff, so when you have a video title that promises the video will be about how well the series fits into a certain genre that isn't well explored and then the video turns into you talking about why you like the series, some viewers can feel dissatisfied because there was very little payoff for their invested time in terms of what they clicked on your video for. Overall, I loved this video and what you're doing here! Your thoughts on specific characters were very interesting and thought provoking. Personally, I hadn't thought about Doll all that much and was actually pretty confused about her motives for most of the show, but you've painted her in a new light for me and I actually quite like that interpretation of her. These are ultimately just suggestions and you can run your channel however you like and probably still get an audience with how high quality this is. I wish you all the best and look forward to what you do next!
thanks for watchin! and thanks for the info! i was in a little bit of a rush while editing this one. that's the main reason why it isn't structured as good as the others. also it was my first time doing this with the new editing style lol. the idea of the vid changed A LOT while making it too, which is why it seems more like a mismatched vid. but overall i'm pretty proud of it and am glad you found it captivating! thanks again for watchin! oh yea forgot to say that i didn't write a script lol.
@@Zenimations-oy3vv Yeah, you should be proud of this! While my comment was mostly focused on what could be improved, I think this video is super solid overall! Way better than anything I've ever made! You've done a great job here!
i always interpeted N being nice to Cyn and then seemingly only N having his memory erased(N's the only dissassembly drone shown to be confused about what's going on.) as Cyn repeatedly wiping his memory as a kindness, spare him the pain of remembering and all that. it does end up playing into horror, but that's how i read the intention.
they did such a good job with the robo raptors scenes, very reminiscent to the og jurrassic park movie. they took the suspense from that and turned it to 11
Dolls house, the DDs, the loss of identity that uzi/cyn/the DDs experience, the entirety of episode 2, child neglect, cannibalism, the destruction of earth, call back ping, the ep 7 cyn reveal, constant references and parallels to horror classics like Jurassic park, Carrie, and the entire slasher genre... I could go on.
My biggest issue with the series is that all the potential, dare i say, is untapped. Not fleshed out (no pun) whatsoever. Whoa there's gore inside J's corpse? Forget about it here's a cool fight scene. This character hints to us that using absolute solver is tied to overheating (and also creating gore), therefore forcing those using/used by it to resort to cannibalism? Forget about it here's a cool fight scene. Uzi's solver turned a thing into a living, writhing pile of flesh and gave her fleshy body parts? Here's a cool fight scene and THEN forget about it because all that was for the sake of letting her fly in 2 episodes. They're bleeding out of their solver eyes, that are somehow getting damaged instead of healed by solver? Irrelevant. Also humans created A CURE FOR ABSOLUTE SOLVER? Surely all that fascinating setup goes somewhere to create an absolute masterpiece of an eldritch biomechanics plot, right? The finale will clear it all up instead of saying forget about it here's a cool fight scene? Right?
i definitely get your point, but for a webseries (especially for a director's first big budget series), it did it's job very well. thanks for watchin my vid !
@@Zenimations-oy3vv I understand just how easy it is to critique media in retrospect. After all if not for all the effort Liam and the animators put into it, we wouldn't have it as something to discuss in the first place. I'm grateful, just personally disappointed by how far it fell from its pure potential to be like actual peak fiction
Fun fact: when I first heard Cyn, I totally thought it was Ellen Mc-Fucking-Lain, voice of Caroline aka motherfucking GLaDOS. Cyn's voice is so fucking good.
@@Zenimations-oy3vv it’s a subject about murder drones that rarely gets talked about in the UA-cam space. So it’s a pleasant surprise. And I adore how you dug into the characters.
Well, with such a title I was expecting a discussion over the biomechanical horror genre. What it means, what it representes and how murder drones uses the tropes and codes of this genre to deliver it's message, or enhance the themes of the genre. Not just a music and character recap. It is interesting to mention them, but why not explore it a bit more ?
This series definitely wasn’t for me after episode 4, but I can appreciate that it resonates so well with the people it did work for. My main problem is that after episode 4, the story became almost completely incomprehensible through all the mysteries, and the characters start feeling like walking plot devices…and I have all the respect for the people who COULD understand anything happening after episode 4 I love the animation, music, designs, performances, and action…it’s that damn writing, especially after episode 4, that took away my investment.
yeah that's a completely fair opinion. that whole "Cyn and the absolute solver apparently being two separate entities" thing makes ABSOLUTLY no sense lol.
as someone said the history is very disconected trought the whole thing, they then use ep 6, 7 and 8 to bring it all toghether and wrap it up if you watch everything and then rewatch the earlier episodes a lot of the plot points makes a lot more sense(though i won't lie this is a big flaw of the work) as for characters feeling like plot devices it comes from the fact that i think all characters that i can remember (main and supporting cast alike) are very one dimensional to an inhuman degree J being a corporate slave, N being a helper (even to his enemies), Uzi being an edgy angsty emo teen, and etc etc
The series is great and I hope they get a second season, but I DO have some grievances with it that I hope they manage to clear up in the future. The show's plot is pretty scratterbrained, and while everything was very expertly foreshadowed, there were many distracting bits that made parsing the plot behind the horror and the comedy that much more difficult. As a casual viewer I had to consult the mighty Google. I still can't forgive the show for making the drones basically reskinned humans. While it never bleeds into the main plot, there's so many instances of the side characters being straight up braindead stupid that It becomes outright distracting. These humanoid robots have too many unnessicary similarities to humans that go completely unexplained. Some concrete examples: - Robots forgetting stuff they just saw (like in the camping episode when they forgot the name of the chapter of that book) is a bit silly. How can you not have some way of retaining basic information as a robot? - Not having basic things you'd expect a robot to have for visual and plot convenience, like phones, built in flashlights, etc. Why do some of them have GLASSES?? - Why do they breathe? Like in this clip, 3:20, why is the drone lady breathing?? If they had a good reason to explain these things, it wouldn't have hurt to explore it or at least include some sort of tidbit in writting on it, like them breathing to cool down their circuits, stuff like that, instead of forcing us to make up headcannons to cover up these sloppy plot holes. Pretty much all the above can be explained by 'it's to make it more dramatic', or simply for aesthetics. The show has two things going for it, and by golly do they COMPLETELY offset the mess those flaws, because the ANIMATION and the CHARACTERS are just utterly Perfect. Especially the animation, absolutely Hollywood level stuff. I have no problem rewatching each episode over and over because the animation is just drop dead gorgeous. Everything from the character's manerisms conveyed through motion, the shading on all the robot's shiny surfaces and hair, the area backgrounds and object rendering, everything is perfect. This is one of the most immersive animation experiences I've had because of the sheer attention to detail.
yeah lol, i WAS gonna put J And V together in the V part kinda like a dichotomy but then went "this vid is taking a while and i have about 6 hrs of doors footage to edis sooooo..."
Yeah, I think you will like discovering lore of Rain World and Ultrakill, because in Rain World Five Pebbles' story is one more biomechanical horror, where he literally rots from inside and can't do anything with it, even die, while in Ultrakill we have war machines who work on the blood and because of it stuck in endless battle. Especially Gutterman's lore, this thing is dark

10:00 I DO NOT RELEASE YOU FROM TALKING ABOUT THESE CHARACTERS YOU MUST REMAIN TRAPPED FOREVER MUAHAHAHAHAHAH Nah but anywhomst, murder drones totally is production quality, like the animation is absolutely insane for an inde company, which I think is the primary thing that drew alot of people to this short series. I mean, just LOOK at that LIGHTING! Muah! 👌 Is beautiful. Now, that being said, the story is also really good, the pilot episode itself was professional grade, like the entire thing is just, amazing. I only wish it had more than 8 episodes. Also, Liam HAS been doing this for a very long time, he's made several pilot episodes for cartoons before, you can find them on his channel. He's also got this awesome short series called interceion cube or something, it's an animatic and honestly is probably where 99% of the inspiration for this series came from, even the art style is somewhat similar, though limited by its 2d nature for sure. This show could've aired in 2010 and people would've gone nuts over it, the writing just absolutely fits the era. This is 2000 10s cartoon for sure. I mean, the way that Uzi even talks is super teenage angst from the time period, right down to, "bite me." 😂 Lots of ridiculous internet speak, absolutely love it. The series is just awesome. And as I said I wish there was more.

I'm just trying to reach out to my friends with a fantastic synopsis of why this series is so great, and I felt that the opening might take away from that. That being said, I'm totally new to your channel and your style, and I absolutely love it as a fan of the series. Please keep doing your own thing! As a Murder Drones fan, no notes! As someone who I'd like to introduce that series to through your video, ONLY the one note. Look forward to more of your videos! PLEASE DISREGARD ANY NOTES THO, do your own thing! thx bye!
Honestly though, the intro works GREAT. Just might last a little too long for newcomers? Feel like a 50% time reduction would really sell the best highlights while capturing newcomers' views, but that's just me talking out of my ass.
No one ever focuses on J, it's painful because we know a lot of messed up stuff happened to her too, she just don't have enough screen time and lines. People forget she has a whole video for herself.
I will admit While definitely flawed and not the best thing I’ve seen ever I will say I loved this show for everything it did right And I’m honestly hoping the team behind it finds more work because they all have potential And I find it funny how this is the stuff glitch is producing Meanwhile Netflix is producing shit like marmaduke and cuties 💀 (Bit of an L if ya ask me LMAO)

First time viewer and I have to say that this was a pretty good video! I do have one piece of constructive criticism that I don't see touched on in other comments (apologies if it has been and I just missed it): I noticed that you tended to repeat the word "character" quite a bit while going through the video, though most especially in your section discussing Cyn. Repeated emphasis words aren't always a problem, but when they're so close together (there were quite a few times two back-to-back sentences had the word character in them), it can disrupt the flow of your speech. This is something I encounter a lot in writing and especially when being asked to edit for friends/colleagues - quite a few people who read will have a "mental voice" narrating the written words, and it can become disrupted/thrown off by repetitive word use. Since a video has actual audio, it induces a similar form of "thrown off" in someone's active listening (how much this affects someone will vary by person.) I'm not sure if you write scripts for your videos or free-form record your thoughts, but a trick I'd recommend (especially if you script your videos beforehand) is to adopt an editor's eye and see how many times the word repeats, and where you can cut it out without affecting the information conveyed in the sentence. Any place that you *can't* cut it out (For example, "The narrative point of this character is 'reasoning here.' Something I really enjoy about this character...") would be a place to replace the following word with a synonym or something that makes sense in that context. As an example: "The narrative point of Doll's character is to serve as a dark mirror of Uzi, representing how someone can have such similar issues and yet end up going down a much darker path. Something I love about this *concept* is..." Even though we dropped the second use of "character", the conveyance of information is unblemished, and the way the sentence flows is more natural. A good rule of thumb (not official by any metric, but it's how I write when not writing dialogue) would be trying to leave at least three sentences between one use of a specific emphasis word. (genre, character, etc.) Obviously, this doesn't apply to all words (it'd be hard to leave the word "to" out of multiple sentences when formatting a video essay), but for specific words that convey a point, you can usually use them sparingly while still conveying the point you intend to make. I sincerely hope this doesn't come across as too lecture-y, I've got a hyperfixation on writing and the flow of language so I can be quite detail-oriented about it. I did enjoy your video, and plan to subscribe to keep an eye out for future videos.
finally someone noticed the whole "repeating the word character and/or other words" thing lol. all completely fair points here lol. i do not in fact script my videos. normally when i try to, i end up giving up on the project entirely. a total ADHD moment lol. it was a more freeform type of video. but thanks for watching and thanks for the gud points!
Im pretty sure that the crimgy dialogues are there 100% on purpose the series wants to embrace that egdy cringe it have throughout without amy shame and it does it great
Murder drones never hooked me, I watched all the episodes back to back and then the finale when it came out, I feel like it might have been better as each episode was coming out and there was time for speculation and fan creation, but as a standalone thing? The pacing just destroys it. I never cared about any of the characters, it feels like the show throws away the base premise almost immediately never earning a sense of intrigue or big reveal, and the meta-dialog is grating. I’m just happy that digital circus doesn’t seem to have those flaws just yet.

Because... y'know...
*A TEENAGER'S CORPSE GOT GRAFTED AND A BUNCH OF BIOMECHANICAL ROBOTS ATE HUMANITY.*
yea it's really cool!

I love how MD is filled with a bunch of lore but it's still kind of a comedy show at it's core, then there's stuff like *this*
murder drones is and always wlll be my favourite show for these reasons. i kinda hate that it's been almost entirely eclipsed by digital circus in recent months, but even so, it still holds its own. there's nothing like it, and i dont think there ever WILL be anything like it. it's just too unique and can't be replaced
I would've never watched murder drones if i didn't find glitch through digital circus

N: if this is fine was a person
EXACTLY LOL
the reason liam was able to pull it off so well was because he literally spent years messing with this genre and getting feedback in the shadows until glitch just decided to pull him out of his semi-famous state and turn him into a legend.
if you listen to his work on SSTWL, there are so many similarities and old content he recycled, it was just a bunch of rough drafts
Hollywood quality is an insult
Hollywood budget fits better, it looks as if someone put one of those massive billion dollar budgets to use
yeah good point. especially with all the crap that's around nowadays.
A very fair point
Was looking for this comment. I specifically fell in love with Glitch and other indie animations because I'm looking for quality so hard to find in Hollywood (with the exception of Arcane and the Spiderverse movies)
@@faithdrawing3858 Yeah.
Ironically, big budget movies have become too big to take real risks, so all the creativity is escaping to the indie scene
You need to EMBRACE the cringe, that’s what murder drones is about

it's so good lol! I DON'T EVEN LIKE NIGHTCORE W
@@Zenimations-oy3vv That’s the point! It’s a cringe anime OV but it fits perfectly, especially with Uzi’s whole character arc being her accepting herself.
The genre is called biopunk, it's usually a good time!
I loved the use of the OST in the background, you made it fit very well
Because of my interests with 'Murder Drones', the manga 'Leviathan', the series 'Autodale' and some previous art Ive done - Im beginning to realize that I might be a Bio-Mechanical Horror fan.
I mean that could be why I gravitate towards this kind of media as I know Im not exactly drawn with the more generic horror like 'slashers' or 'generic zombie' films.
Glad someone mentioned Autodale. That series and Dead Sound's other short films and series are crazy underrated.
I love Dead Sound's work and Autodale. The guy makes great stuff and it has some really cool lore behind it
the 2 scenes u talked about (the one playing BITE ME in ep 8, and the one with Eternal Dream playing in the back in ep 6) gave me chills and still does

Great work
6:57 This is just an incredibly accurate comparison that I may or may not steal for an art project one day.
Great work all around, far from perfect as another commenter has already given you constructive criticism for, but by the gods do you have potential. You already got a guy telling you about things you need to improve on, so let me be the guy that tells you to keep going. You may be small now, but if you keep this up, I for one, think you can make something here.

I don't think the biomechanical part stands out that much
there are some clever aspects in combining classical horror tropes with a scifi twist but much of it us jsut apply horror to robot setting
and biomechanical aspects in body horror or monster horror existed before
whats more of a standout feature is that its the first time this kidn of blend of horror and comedy got a full series
you can see the same thing in liam vickers earlie work
some of it features ai characters, osme of it features no technology at all but its all built around hte tension between horror and comedy and cahracters that are simultaneously cute and terrifying and the idea of befriending somethign thats entire purpose is to kill you and just makign hte best of that absurdity
You've done a great job here!
i always interpeted N being nice to Cyn and then seemingly only N having his memory erased(N's the only dissassembly drone shown to be confused about what's going on.) as Cyn repeatedly wiping his memory as a kindness, spare him the pain of remembering and all that. it does end up playing into horror, but that's how i read the intention.
why does that song fit so well with MD😭
it just does lol
they did such a good job with the robo raptors scenes, very reminiscent to the og jurrassic park movie. they took the suspense from that and turned it to 11
BIOMECHANICAL HORROR MY BEHEARTED!!!!!! I LOVE IT WHEN THE ROBOTS HAVE FLESH YOU GO YOU LITTLE FREAKS!!!
The only part of Murder Drones that was “horror” and actually scary was when Cyn said “let me in” repeatedly
I get the feeling that *a few* people, possibly horror fans, would disagree with that statement.
Horror fan here, and I do, in fact, disagree with that statement.
Another horror fan here, i too disagree.
Then it became hentai when you specifically bleep out each "let".
**** Me N is what it sounds like.
While I agree with most of your points, there are much better animated fight scenes made by others that are synced with the music.

This series definitely wasn’t for me after episode 4, but I can appreciate that it resonates so well with the people it did work for.
My main problem is that after episode 4, the story became almost completely incomprehensible through all the mysteries, and the characters start feeling like walking plot devices…and I have all the respect for the people who COULD understand anything happening after episode 4
I love the animation, music, designs, performances, and action…it’s that damn writing, especially after episode 4, that took away my investment.
yeah that's a completely fair opinion. that whole "Cyn and the absolute solver apparently being two separate entities" thing makes ABSOLUTLY no sense lol.
as someone said the history is very disconected trought the whole thing, they then use ep 6, 7 and 8 to bring it all toghether and wrap it up
if you watch everything and then rewatch the earlier episodes a lot of the plot points makes a lot more sense(though i won't lie this is a big flaw of the work)
as for characters feeling like plot devices it comes from the fact that i think all characters that i can remember (main and supporting cast alike) are very one dimensional to an inhuman degree J being a corporate slave, N being a helper (even to his enemies), Uzi being an edgy angsty emo teen, and etc etc
If you’ve played scorn I think that’s technically biomechanical
Greed for money will never replace the passion of creators.
Some concrete examples:
- Robots forgetting stuff they just saw (like in the camping episode when they forgot the name of the chapter of that book) is a bit silly.
An AMAZING mix of nasapunk and biopunk

yeah lol, i WAS gonna put J And V together in the V part kinda like a dichotomy but then went "this vid is taking a while and i have about 6 hrs of doors footage to edis sooooo..."

Is beautiful.

WE’RE AT 10 K VIEWS GANG WOO
First time viewer and I have to say that this was a pretty good video! I do have one piece of constructive criticism that I don't see touched on in other comments (apologies if it has been and I just missed it):
I noticed that you tended to repeat the word "character" quite a bit while going through the video, though most especially in your section discussing Cyn. Since a video has actual audio, it induces a similar form of "thrown off" in someone's active listening (how much this affects someone will vary by person.)
I'm not sure if you write scripts for your videos or free-form record your thoughts, but a trick I'd recommend (especially if you script your videos beforehand) is to adopt an editor's eye and see how many times the word repeats, and where you can cut it out without affecting the information conveyed in the sentence. Something I love about this *concept* is..."
Even though we dropped the second use of "character", the conveyance of information is unblemished, and the way the sentence flows is more natural.
I did enjoy your video, and plan to subscribe to keep an eye out for future videos.
finally someone noticed the whole "repeating the word character and/or other words" thing lol. all completely fair points here lol. i do not in fact script my videos. normally when i try to, i end up giving up on the project entirely. a total ADHD moment lol. it was a more freeform type of video. but thanks for watching and thanks for the gud points!
it would be cool to if there was a series that did H.R Giger's kind of biomechanical horror (Minus the hyper sexual stuff)

i think so. more on the bio side tho
I’m just happy that digital circus doesn’t seem to have those flaws just yet.
fair points. i did care about the characters mainly for the concept of the show lol
