- This is Episode 4 of my Sea of Cortez Adventure Series. During my Sea of Cortez Photo Expedition in May 2023 we encountered so much sea life that I've made a short series about it.
I encountered the sperm whales for the first time of the Sea of Cortez and made it a mission to capture the perfect shot of a sperm whale from above.

I spent 10 yrs out there in the Pacific, it's an awsome scary place. I became a skydiver and I have to tell everyone that after 23 yrs jumping out of planes losing many friends I still havnt been as amazed as I was at sea. Never a dull moment, but always a feeling that it's a mysterious place and one can never turn your back on it!
This is absolutely fantastic footage of sealife which you always get, of course the Great Whites are my top of your videos but whale's and dolphins , seals and the gigantic Blue Whale. Amazing footage thank you ✌️

All his Carlos's videos are amazing. My fav is of whales coming up to small boats in Sea of Cortez, but in a remote area on mainland, hard to get to which is perfect To see whales popping up on their own terms ( humans wait) to see people in a solitary type of environment is like nothing I've seen.

Question: almost every time I see videos of Blue whales their skin is perfect or almost so. Unlike other species that have barnacles and such all over the skin. Anyone know why?
I love how much effort you go through and bring us so much beauty and knowledge. I must say again, you have a great voice! I love that you don't feel you need to be obnoxious and hyped up when talking to us.

the sea of cortez was called the Vermilion Sea on all maps before 1700's.

The blue whale is the biggest I thought?? Or is that another name? Or are you just talking biggest in Cortez Sea alone?
The Blue Whale is the largest. And that is what is said in the video as well. We did film a Bryde's whale too, but the blue is definitely the largest animal that has ever lived.
