In 2016 I went to Chernobyl for a trip. I did it because Ive been fascinated by dark tourism since my teens. When you go there, you travel in small groups usually 6-8 people large. You travel around on a minibus to different areas around Chernobyl and come out with the guide to listen to the stories and explore the buildings etc. The minibus tours are organised in a way that you don't stumble upon a different group, so that you get to see everything in peace and experience the emptiness. Every now and then you'll also stumble upon the soldiers that patrol the area to check if tourists stay with the tour guide and don't stray away anywhere. At some point into my trip. we arrived at an abandoned Hotel in Pripyat to explore it. Once we parked the van, the pair of soldiers patrolling the area came over to chat and chill with our driver (the driver doesn't explore, he waits in the minibus for the group to arrive and go to the next spot). We also saw the second tour bus pass us and drive off in another direction. We walked into the hotel with our tour guide and I asked her if we'll get to explore it freely. She answered 'no, not in here' and told us to make sure to follow her. So I did. I'm not the person to get in trouble, so I stayed close to her and focused on photographing the place. At one point, she said that we will be passing through a very dark corridor so we have to keep close and watch our feet since there is a lot of glass on the floor. I did as I was told, followed everybody into the dark corridor and kept my eye on my feet. I was the last one in line and as creepy as it seems, I felt very safe. It was very dark, but I was so close to whoever was in front of me that I knew exactly where they were going. When we reached the end of the corridor, there were staircases leading up on both sides. It was still dark, but I cold see and hear that people in front of me are going to the staircase on the left. So I followed. I started going up, and it started to get a bit lighter with each step. Now I could not only hear, but also see fully that I am definitely following a guy from the group (it was a Swedish guy who chose to wear purple pants that day), but for some reason he was climbing the stairs really fast. He was climbing p so fast, that I actually had to start running. I genuinely thought the group was running up the stairs because we were so excited about going to the rooftop. The reason why I thought that, is because we've been discussing it on the minibus and our guide did say there will be a rooftop view at some point during the trip. So yeah, I just followed everybody up those stairs without thinking anything else. As I got to the top I was so far behind everybody that I couldnt see them, but I finally reached the entrance to the rooftop and could hear them all outside. As I was about place my first step through that door to the rooftop, I heard my name being called all the way from downstairs. I looked down through the gap between handrails, and saw 3 horrified but angry faces - my guide and the 2 soldiers. They commanded me to come back downstairs. Turns out, my group never went upstairs. They have been looking for me for the past 15 minutes. There was nobody on that rooftop, there was no other group in the area, the soldiers were with my guide. Who tf was I following? Why were they leading me to the rooftop? I think about this every now and then, and get goosebumps everytime

my grandmother is a holocaust survivor, and i grew up with the most horrifying stories and some of them are very unique, and not the stuff everyones heard before, and i was wondering if people would want me to write out some for this channel, since i believe he would tell them good

When my sister was a teen and I was a preteen we were on a trip with our parents. We had stopped at this little old motel to spend the night. My dad had gotten my sister and I our own room. We noticed behind this oddly placed curtain a door. It had no knob. The motel was run by this old white haired lady. She seemed so nice. Well we settled in for the night. We had traveled all day so we quickly fell asleep. I woke up about midnight or there after to a noise. I thought my sister was up and about. I looked over across the room to where our stuff was and I thought my sister was digging through her bags to find something. I was mad she woke me up and said to her go back to bed! The image froze and being groggy I turned to the wall. A moment later I heard movement. I turned my head to see and I saw that curtain in front of that door flutter and a soft click of a door closing! I then saw my sister's sleeping form in the bed! It never was her! It creeps me out to this day and I'm 56 years old!!

This one was really great, too. I was thinking of some spooky hotel stories lately as well.
Where I live, this one hotel downtown is infamous due to a mass murder suicide that happened there. A woman threw herself and her children off the 8th floor balcony of their room after her husband committed suicide in the parking lot, since he believed he would be reborn as a prophet of god. One of the kids survived even after being split in half by a railing, and disturbingly, onlookers shouted for the mother to jump after watching each kid plummet to their death.
If you look up the shilo inn murder suicide in Utah, it oughta come up.
