Wine's Not an Emulator
GNU's Not Unix
Gotta love those recursive names :D
So basically:
1. Wine
2. Wine with an extension
3. Wine with an extension and a manager
4. Wine but polished
Your comment made me drunk. Too much wine.
Ya bro
Thanks for the sum up
basicly wine that forked by someone and wine that forked but not forked(Cross over)
@@KingBeef79 dude you drunk the wrong wine, Linux has more alcohol.
Damn good editing man also very informational videos.
Very insightful, thanks!
Very informative brother..
Cool videos bro!Can you do a video about different terminals such as Tmux, yakuake ?
While installing a software i get a pop up saying Microsoft 4.5 or above framework is required to install, how to install any software that requires dot net framework on Wine ?
I am a crossover custumer since 2015, in that way you can help support the wine proyect.
Great video !!! kudos !
Can you make a video on how to disk partition on Zorin os ?
Dude, you have so much good content. Nice videos and explainations. Please just change your profile picture and put a nice XPS TECH logo and your chanel will be a huge success!!!!
On ubuntu 19.4...when"open with another application" cant find wine there.
I installed using terminal .cmnds are availible on winehq.org for installation of wine.
Much more interesting is how to put wine driven windows app into a sandbox. I was trying to use flatpak yesterday, but I've not got success with understanding how to put in container custom app which is not contained on a flatpak hub yet.
very interesting as I am justing jumping ship from Windows 10 - how does Wine/Crossover compare with a VM installation with Windows installed and then the Windows app installed on that? Any performance hit? Any improvements in range of apps which can be installed?
how do i install it on endless linux os 3.0 pls help me
can we also install drivers by these softwares
But sir ,
After installation the program does not open.
Please help me sir

Which one supports powerdirector 15 ?
5. Run Windows as a Virtual Machine on VirtualBox.
how to install .net 4.5 framework for wine
Does Crossover support Windows 10 Store apps? I'll install Deepin and find out...
Does dipin os still offers crossover for free?
Wow! very informative video (thumbs up).
I'm currently running Windows 10 on Virtual box (6.1), purpose being to be able to use IQ Options (trading app not supported by Linux), can I use Wine (for example) to use IQ Options, if not, is there a way you can suggest?
what distro you usee mr ruppee man
wine cannot be installed with my version
I'm trying to install msstyles to wine but I can't find them on devianart. All I get are some png files with preview :(. There is no real msstyle theme there.
EDIT: I found few winxp themes that are possible to install as wine theme, other than that it's pretty hard to find something. win10 themes seem not to work for that purpose.
Does wine work with all software
Thanks for your videos!
any programs that run window programs on linux with Cuda?
its funny cause i know alot of win 7 and 10 users that went back to the win xp sp3 platform, and i found looking for software on linux, that the programmers og fedora and zorin, made a sp4 for xp so the partitions in linux would run better, some people will keep xp in a partition and just add partitions off xp to switch to linux so the sp4 allows you to setup linux side by side with win xp all you do at startup is choose either xp or linux, i downloaded the xp sp4, its a big file,1.3gb
One question : will Cross Over run on my Linux Mint 18 32 bit version ?
I know this is an OLD question but... According to the documentation, yes. www.codeweavers.com/support/wiki/linux/faq/distros
Which Linux Distros are supported?
We actively test and support the most recent releases from the major Linux distributions,
Ubuntu
Mint
Fedora
Debian
Red Hat Enterprise Linux
We test the 64-bit (and when possible 32-bit) build of the above distributions. We test the Unity, Gnome, and KDE desktop environments.
You should be able to run CrossOver on a variety of other distributions, particularly distributions based on those listed above. However, we do not test or support other distributions and so we cannot guarantee Crossover will work.
supper bro
And what about the Adobe suite of products?
Does play on linux supports corel draw ?
bt my system is based on bios not on UEFI and i am not able to install it ...
it says installation failed and there no tutorial about this anywhere ..
not on youtube neither on google
please help
This is aimed at 8 but the steps should work for 10: www.everydaylinuxuser.com/2015/11/how-to-install-ubuntu-linux-alongside_8.html
Great video, very informative. I'd love to switch to Linux, but I use Adobe CC for Windows. So far, none of the software seems to allow the current versions to run. And yes, I know there are similar apps, but because of some of my work with my clients, I need the actual Adobe apps.
dual-booting is easy enough and safe. Most Linux distros only need 60GB of space to run fine - even with a bunch of apps added.
@@wynnhorton1208 Thanks for the tip. I'm definitely still looking into this (yes, even after all this time I'm still that big a wussy!)
thx for the video. One question.. how can I install a Windows App that is only from the Windows App Store?
If you can find it's folder, just place that in winehq system call directory (windows C folder) and it must work. If you don't have separate files, you won't be able to run that app. As you can't get Microsoft store for a manual download and install. It comes built into windows.
@@Yash-qs8iu uwp apps dont work under wine whatsoever
Sir How to install PUBG MOBILE on linux
which distro is that?? Looking very beautiful!!
Zorin OS
Nick Konstant no may be deepen OS
@@eee12dharrunsingh.m70 Way old replying here but it is definitely Zorin, you can even see the Z in the bottom left (And I've used it and know it is Zorin).
Nice video there... But that intro music is WAY too loud!
Questions:
Does wine support Windows 10 or 7 app compatibility?
I can't speak to windows 10 programs, but I've been running 7 and 8/8.1 programs very consistently under Wine 2.x. You can check out WineHQ for your specific program and get an idea of how it might go.
Do windows programs run quite smooth in linux under Wine, or are they slower than using them in windows?
Paul, if the program is fully supported by wine then that program will run buttery smooth as it would do in windows. I tested 1 game on wine and on windows as well, there were no performance difference *at all*.
Thanks Amol, I appreciate the reply!
Amol Grover Audiofiling is underated by the masses.
If only i could properly installed wine!!!!!!!!!!
So pol ia not wine? If i use pol i dun need wine? Or wat!
Can i install all Adobe applications like Premiere Pro, After Effects etc by all these software?
I wan to try too
So... if I install Deepin am I able to install Crossover on other devices as I have the licence? Or will I have to pay for it.
I read many times that the bottles from CrossOver are portable, so it sounds like the answer is yes. If you have a bottled program on your desktop PC, you can put it on your laptop. I guess a bottle (that's a CrossOver term only) is like an AppImage or a sandboxed program.
What's Vindows?
hey ihad a query
Excellent video and voice .Kindly avoid the bgm .its horrible
They should found a final solution for this on both Windows and Linux because there are no full tutorial talks about all the bugs that wine and other simulators have, and usually it's a font and environment problems like using Arabic and every different language you'll face so many errors on your system

which linux distro are u using in this video
Hi there! I have used Zorin OS in this video. Currently reviewing it and will make a video on it soon.
Thanks for watching!
Use VMware or Virtualbox with a windows vm
S4 league game has some private servers.. The app launches the game on windows is like a virus to the antivirus but actly aint.. If i dwnloaded the pServer on pol !! Wud it go fine
4 SOFTWARES TO RUN LINUX APPS ON WINDOWS!
i want to dual boot deepin os with win 10
Try www.howtogeek.com/187789/dual-booting-explained-how-you-can-have-multiple-operating-systems-on-your-computer/
I am using Debian Linux. I want to run Window files. For that I have downloaded "wine-5.0.tar.xz", I need support in installing it.
@@arashkmahshidfar7780 Did you have to buy a Windows license? I only need to run a (work-related) proprietary softphone program designed for Windows, but don't need the Windows apps or Word/Office.
It's zorin OS 12 I believe.
i clicked on this video because i was going to switch to linux...
lmao
Thanks brother but problem is installation on Debian Linux 🤣🤗😎... Could you please share step-by-step guide to install BURP SUITE PROFESSIONAL, NET SPARKER, ACUNETIX, etc on Linux. Thanks for your help and support brother 🤝❤💙💚💐👍
I may need Wine or something similar to run a softphone program for work. I also have Debian (10 with Xfce). What have you used and what works best on Debian? I read a bit about PlayOnLinux and it sounds most like CrossOver- neither of which force me to buy Windows license. But, CrossOver costs money - unless I use a free trial for 2 weeks.
@@wynnhorton1208 Yeah indeed. I found solution. It is Not VMWARE
It's something like Dockers that host Windows inside Linux n all Windows programs runs smoothly in it... just search on UA-cam like Run Windows inside Linux...🤝❤💙💚👍💐
@@Free.Education786 thanks. there are many programs (often called emulators) that do this, but not all work well. If you know the exact name of what you are now using that would help us Debian users.
0:25 bro you have chromium on your pc your doomed
Y doe?
Shouldn't it be called WINAE (Wine Is Not An Emulator)?
Much like GNU, it's a recursive acronym (i.e. it refers to itself in the acronym) - generally, words like a, the, or an don't usually appear in an acronym anyhow, so there's nothing wrong with them naming it that. True, you could argue 'is' doesn't need to count either, but in this case, it's more about ignoring the 'an'.
01:27 Which OS did you used? Is it android❓
I believe the OS he's using is ZorinOS
Game On I’m hearing that for the first time. Do that OS really exist🤔🤔
@@CreativeBrainsOrganization | zorinos.com/ yes, it actually does
What's a "vindow" though?
try speak Hindi and see how many words you mispronounce. try any other language and it'll be the same - worse for some, I am sure. most of us have accents when speaking a foreign language.
@@wynnhorton1208 I know. He's a content creator, so I'm giving him feedback.
Zorin OS 15 removed WINE.
WINE works only with simple Windows programs only.
the only thing i dont like about linus, you cant upload any new downloads unless you open the terminal and type it into the root so it will instal, no all those downloads tell you what to type, when they have a one click install then i'll use it more, windows i choose a download, click it istall it and its done to use, linux you gotta do this and that, type this and its too much BS just design a one click install for linux, so you dont have top type in all these binary codes into root to install it, i want something easy! Thats why not many people will keep linux unless their programmers, not everybodys a programmer, i dont have time to dick around with code, just make a one click instal and its done!
dual-boot until you learn more. that's what i did. i deleted Windows 6 months ago, but now need Windows for a work-at-home call center job (softphone). Debian KDE might be good for you. KDE has a software store pre-installed that makes downloading some programs as ways as using the Windows/Chrome store. Don't give up. Using Microsoft is like selling your soul to the devil.

*SOFTWARES*
*VINDOWS*
maybe you're interested running ANY Windows-App seamlessly in Linux (just like WSL) currently it's the latest video on my channel.. I just added this comment bcz maybe the one with a direct link gets removed..
No disclaimer that Wine doesn't work in Linux running on Arm processors? Disliked.
No
HAHA In 1980 Tree
good video...but the intro sound make to dislike it.
You are offering poor advice here, if you use several Windows programs for any professional purpose then use Windows. And if you have Windows programs that you would like to use on your GNU/Linux machine for personal use then run them within a virtual machine.
WINE is the core code for all four of your suggested compatibility layer programs, WINE has rubbish support for 64bit programs, and anything that does run will work poorly and have issues.
Crossover will cost you some $$$, and will probably buy up WINE eventually and close source it.
Clive A virtual machine is a nightmare when it comes to performance and I dislike the whole Windows experience, other than xp. Crossover workd pretty nicely here with Office, Notepad++ & Imgburn, the only Win apps I need.
Pretty sure the video was meant for people who have migrated to Linux and want some level of compatibility with Windows applications. Personally, Windows is my main OS, as I have too much software that relies on it, but it's always good to have options, so there's no need to rag on people who go that route.
Winrar is garbage you can already open rar files out of the box with Linux Mint what a joke!!!
POO IN
LOO
I HATE WINDOWS! THE PROGRAM.
The singular and plural of "software" is still "software." Not correcting the title for over a year = FAIL. Too bad I can only give one dislike. The blaring intro music was bad enough.
Or you could duel boot windows and not waste your time on WINE. Its shit.
I prefer Wine over Windows as long as it works.
It's too bad that not everything works dude.
But thankfully Wine is constantly developing. There's only like one or two games I use Windows for, one of which I could run in Wine, but don't do so for performance boost and the other had a patch for Wine which I haven't tried yet. Wine doesn't have spyware in it and it's community driven and for me those are sufficient reasons to say that Wine *isn't* shit.
You're right it's not shit, it's GARBAGE!
Lavos If you don't want to use Wine, then don't use it, but please don't dismiss the great efforts of the community to make Windows apps compatible with Linux without any sort of partnership with Microsoft or direct access to Windows' source code. It's incredible what they were able to achieve given these circumstances.
