Technically it is blooming, it's just that the angle and the exposure are showing it when you wouldn't see it IRL

Please add segments to your review where you directly comment on the product versus what it replaces, I.e. x95l v b9, as generally there is clearance prices on the last years model but they don’t last long and people will be deciding whether to wait or buy the previous. It happens in some reviews but maybe it’s a good permanent segment ? :)
Think this is more pertinent with mini-led as it’s making bigger strides at the moment year on year.
Might be related to the tone mapping issue discussed in forums. I noticed it does change brightness with a lag of at least 1 second when using brightness preferred. It is currently no option…but to be fair gradation preferred is mostly fine, the image can be brightened by using contrast enhancers if needed at all. But still there are some bugs with the B9. Another one it a weird blueish hue in sdr sources when using local dimming, most prominent with local dimming on medium. It can be seen on apple tvs overscan test picture in the menu. Look at the circle and the big text in the middle. It goes away in pc mode, so it is really a bug. Also its not there when turning local dimming off in sdr.
Looking forward to it. Are you reviewing the 85inch with more zones? I am hearing there is a big difference between the 85 vs the smaller sizes. Huge fan of your reviews!
Couldn’t wait. Have 75” Bravia 9 plus soundbar in room that gets much sun. I’m happy with it!
I've owned mine form almost day one that it was available and I am LOVING IT. Most beautiful TV I've ever owned. OLED level contrast with amazing brightness!! Just buy one, thank me later ;)
I have the Sony a80j in 65 inches, do you think it is worth changing for this Mini LED TV?, I am between the 85-inch Bravia 9 or the 77-inch Sony A95L, thank you, your opinion would help me

Please include all the best settings. I already pulled the trigger and we’ve been enjoying the quality with our 65”. This is my third Sony TV over the past 30 years, and likely my last. I’m a 75 year old fanboy. 🤣
I am a oled fan because of its excellent off axis viewing capabilities. All of my viewing is off axis because I am parked in my recliner one hundred percent of the time. I understand that the 9 has improved off axis viewing but the issue still exists.

@@MrUpscaleman I know it's on the Shadow of Bravia 9... But still have XR processor, looks like better than Samsung Mini led, better than LG mini led or Hisense... Just more Blooming than TCL (in Europe). But Still no proper comparison on the Internet.
There’s a load of tests by users around on av forums, general consensus is 1. B9 2. X95L 3. B7.
It’s generally an X95L with worse viewing angles and reflection handling, but performs mostly similar, owned and tested both, the x95l is better but that’s why the B7 released at a much lower price point.
It’s last years best repackaged with the new back light system / soc, but same zones, as this years value proposition much like the x93l was or the x90l.
You’ll get close enough to B9 at half the price, and half the brightness.
What happened to the Z9K review. That one really never made the light of day. Needed it.

I think what you are seeing people have already complained about on the AVS forums. I'm glad an influencer with direct contacts at Sony is seeing it as well. Maybe now they will do something to fix it. Lord knows they don't listen to us common folk.

I wish Sony would use that wide angle filter again. I want a big 98 inch TV, but the Oled's are too damn expensive, and the only thing stopping me from getting a huge Sony or TCL, is the damn mediocre viewing angles...
I don't wanna be forced to sit in the sweet spot, dead center, to not get a noticeable shift in gamma/colors....

Isn’t the Bravia 7 any good this year?
The review you need to do is the Bravia 7 vs Bravia 9. Can our eyes perceive the difference of 3x more dimming zones and 4x more contrast ratio (400,000 vs 100,000)? I've only seen one side-by-side of the Bravia 7 and 9 with the same content and it's near impossible to tell them apart which explains why Sony took out the screen when showing off the technology. Our frail eyes are unfortunately incapable of seeing the difference in most scenes especially with ambient light. There's a difference but it's so subtle that most folks wouldn't see it.
Which is understandable when you see the video of the A80L with infinite contrast vs the X90L which only has 80 dimming zones (6 times fewer than the Bravia 7) and LEDs (significantly less control) and holds its own against the A80L in most content. It's only in some dungeon game like Demons Souls where the A80L is clearly better.

That's the answer I needed to hear, because I want to change my a80j but I didn't know whether to go for the 85-inch Bravia 9 or the 77-inch A95L. Is it true that it has almost the contrast of an OLED TV but without blooming from Mini LED?

My advice is not to buy any of sony Mini Led TV . I bought a 77 inch X95 L and i am suffering to watch a colorful stripes showing during daylight, causing a big distraction . Sony Middle East said that this normal and for best view i need to watch it at night. Can you imagine that?!

When you even said you would probably choose the z9j over the a90j, yet now with a led that literally smokes every other led ever made, you will criticize it. Please. Don't forget that what the camera captures is very different from what your eyes and brain process. Ideally, see the tvs in person to gauge accurately.
You should listen to what Caleb says about it because he is evaluating it in person. Trying to judge a TV from a youtube video is also classic
