i got the same problem on my 2004 Mazda 2 it has 1.25 ford engine and now after 20years and 215.000km without any problem started the EAC problem the rpms go up to 1500 than down to 500rpm and its hard to drive because the car is in safe mode cant go more than 60kmh than it repairs it self and drive like nothing happend solution?
need to replace throttle pedal, and than go to official ford service to use their official IDS so they can "learn" your PCM to new throttle pedal installation. I work as vehicle technician at Ford, so I know my shit :D P.S. I know it's a waaaay to late comment, but someone can find it helpful.
Sorry Mate actually I think that the wirings between the throttle body and the PCM were the cause of this problem in my particular case. After disconnecting, cleaning and putting back on the connectors the problem disappeared and it didn't come back at all. I just heard the flap moving and I realized that the throttle body was operating. In fact I started the car it was like nothing was happened. Two years later still going strong. A friend of mine had to replace the PCM because he has one of the first fifth generation Fiesta that had a faulty PCM.
there are bunch of steps that you can take to diagnose the problem, I just mentioned one of them. from my pov, if the wires were problem, than you will not be able to "learn" PCM to new throttle pedal, cuz it won't recognize it, than you'll check for the wiring, cuz wiring can really be pain in the back sometimes. ofc that all counts if you have Ford diagnostics, if not than I'd pbbly clean everything and spray the connectors, just to be sure that the throttle pedal is faulty, which was in your case :)
Sorry Mate nothing was faulty in my case because I didn't replace anything. The pedal is the same (original) and the throttle body is the same too (replaced 10 yrs ago because of the same problem). I simply cleaned all the connectors between the throttle body and the PCM and suddenly it worked again. Every time you turn off the engine (or the dashboard) the throttle body runs an autotest (in fact you can hear the valve clicking a couple of times). When the EAC Fail was on the valve was totally dead and the trouble codes didn't 'blame' the TPS (that fails and causes the eac fail) but the wirings (something like 'signal too low' or 'input too low'). So, in my particular case, the problem was the wirings. But there are cases in which the PCM fails (models produced before July 2002 - mine is July 3rd 2002 -) as well as the throttle body or ever a bad battery can cause this problem.
ok, my english is bad. so you cleaned conncetors and you solved the problem, that was in your case and throttle pedal is not faulty anymore (it never was), otherwise it would be faulty. than you can place some new one and check it again. this brought so much confusion :D

I find when I pull up n turn the engine off and back on again it works fine until a few days later when it happens again. Could you perhaps tell me this in a bit more detail/lamens terms so I could fix it myself? TIA! :)
My problem was battery and centraline go crazy with eac error. I have change battery and all perfect Old battery dont keep correct voltage and contact was full of oxide
i have to agree check connectors running across the top of the engine near the fuel lines it most likely to be 1 of the 4 connectors that plug into the injectors this was my issue after replacing injectors i was having the eac fault and car would not rev above 2k but after cleaning all connectors and tap them with a screw driver so they fit snuggly all was fine worth checking
hi yes make sure all 4 connectors are clipped all the way in on top of the injectors as even slightly out will cause eac failure if you are happy that they are all clipped in as far as they can go then just out of curiosity spray all electrical connectors with electrical spray cleaner just incase of corrosion, thats all i can suggest for now or if none of that has helped replace the wiring along the top of the injectors its definately an electrical fault though
Anyone else with this problem just undo the black cover .... push hard down on every connector to the right.... 4 in total.... make sure they are fully pushed in ..... bam !!! car is back working and idling as it should

@@petewakey they are 4 connectors..... not sure if they are coil pack..... I just pulled them out as I see another thread saying to do so..... cleaned with a cloth and put back in .... make sure they all pop in properly..... turned on engine and worked straight away
A POSSIBLE SOLUTION: clean all the wirings between throttle body, PCM and electronic throttle. In my case an accurate cleaning of the wirings solved the problem. Also go to a Ford Dealer and request to see the n. 76/2006 Tech Service Bullettin.
Can you make a video about which cables/connectors should be cleaned? I have the same problem and a "turning off and on the engine" solved my problem, but i would like to clean the connectors, but i don't know which one needs to be cleaned. Thank you

By cleaning all throttle body's connectors to the ECU with contact cleaner and the ECU's wirings too (behind the black cover on the ECU cover). But the problems may vary, check the Ford Technical Service Bullettin (www.idaf.it/index.php?topic=46891.msg629148#msg629148). From Ford ETIS you can know the exact date when your car was produced. I hope you will fix this annoying problem. In my case were the dirty connectors. Best luck

Pare non dipenda da nessuna condizione meteo. Nel mio caso ho risolto pulendo tutti i connettori e contatti dal corpo farfallato alla centralina

abane when exactly has this fault occured? i mean was the injector seals replaced ? or has the car had a mechanical breakdown before the EAC failure?

Sydney Kasongo Mambwe a bad battery can also cause the problem. Replace it
In my case, it was only a cable badly connected, and it fell off the connector, and caused this.
