I’m team Touch ID. I recently switched from iPhone SE 2nd gen to iPhone 13 mini, and while Face ID is nice and noticeably faster, I prefer Touch. I use Touch/Face ID for logging into my bank accounts, and the app asks for it immediately upon opening the app, logging me into the last account I logged into. With Face ID, if I need to use the other account, I have to cover the notch with my hand before opening the app, then wait for the option to cancel login, then select the other account. Whereas with Touch ID, the option to cancel and switch accounts is there right away. Unlocking my phone while at work takes longer than usual because I’m wearing a mask and hat. Even if I’m wearing gloves and can’t use Touch ID, pressing the home button twice to input my passcode takes less time than waiting to input it when Face ID doesn’t work.
My friend was firmly Touch ID only and now after using Face ID for a few years...He likes Face ID way more and I agree. I often work in labs quite often, so unlocking my phone with gloves is a breeze. Also having my phone on a mount in my car, Face ID is just way more convenient.
I have a phone with a under display fingerprint scanner and when the sign doesn't show up, but you have to still unlock your phone, then is this annoying. Yeah put the fingerprint scanner on the powerbutton, way more convenient.@@tezooks
I detest face ID. Every day I find myself trying to unlock my phone with my face blocked or at an awkward angle. Sometimes it just doesn't work even in seemingly perfect conditions. I would rather have an under-display fingerprint scanner for sure. What makes it worse is that if you fail face ID, putting the passcode in manually in iOS is the most frustrating thing in existence due to how button inputs are rate limited so if you type too fast you will end up with only 5 of the 6 digits entered.
I’d hope they do both because I like Face ID more for everything like putting in a password, opening a bank app, etc. but touch id works slightly slower but is great for when my face is rarely too covered to open. Also, do a rescan on Face ID if certain angles don’t work because that’s odd.
in my experience face id works super reliably and under screen sensors tend to be very inconsistent… if apple put a lot of work into it they could probably get it reliable tho
That'd be great but knowing apple they'd increase the price of a few hundred bucks just to make money and make people think touchID is just too expensive
Big fan of FaceID. As a dealership technician/mechanic that is usually always wearing gloves, being able to unlock my phone with just my face is great. Can't use TouchID with gloves on, and if I do take the gloves off my hand is sweaty so it still won't detect.
Wow man, I was searching your channel for a new video a few hours ago and was sad that you didn't posted recently. Refreshed the page and got a new upload. As always, the editing and the amount of effort you put in the videos and mac look-a-like animations are incredible, ty for the video!
I used to have a android phone with the fingerprint on the power button and it would open without the screen even on😂 I’m sure apple can add both Face ID and Touch ID
Why not make the apple logo the fingerprint scanner and also use Face ID so when one doesn’t work quickly you have the other, and for payment it could require both
I can’t stand Touch ID anymore after using Face ID. Touch ID fails to read my fingerprint 25-35% of the time. It’s worse in the winter when my fingers become dry and my finger prints become unreadable. With Face ID, I just look at my phone and it works
You could try a more modern sensor, apple has barely changed its sensor so even the latest SE one uses pretty old technology, newer sensors work much better (depending on the phone). My phone has a touch sensor on the power button (on the side) and it barely ever fails me.
damn what type of junk sensor do they use? my lg device unlock 99 of the times . the newer model is under display sensor so it abit worse since i cant feel the the sensor i have to look sometime to know im touching the sensor part but still unlock 90 % of the times . and im pretty sure iphone need more that just looking , you need to wake it then look then swipe WHY CANT THEY JUST AUTO SCAN AND UNLOCK LIKE FINGERPRINT . One touch is all it really take in fingerprint and you dont even have to look lol.
i actually miss touch id cause of a issue i keep running into: i normally get a cold like A LOT! so i normally have to be wiping my nose and i found that if i keep it covered with something soft and clean it makes it feel better, but then the phone simply WONT UNLOCK!! at any other time tho ut is faster vause sometimes you aint evem expecting the face id authentication and it just happens; with touch id its always waiting for you finger so it is on your time and for that i found it a bit less convenient
On my iPad, I use Touch ID to unlock and make purchases, and there is a 50/50 chance that it will go through or say try again… NOTHING COULD BE DONE TO MY HAND AND IT STILL DOES THAT.
I‘m on Team Face ID because of gloves. My Hands do hurt a lot when they are cold so I absolutely need to wear gloves in winter and with Touch ID there would be no way to unlock my phone in winter. My mom on the other hand (pun intended) is kinda the opposite of me. She has very sweaty hands in the summer making touch ID very unreliable so she was also very happy when she finally upgraded from her iPhone 8 to an 15 with Face ID. I think it depends on the person and usecase what better is.
I remember touch ID on my 5s and 6 would NEVER recognize it and on my 7 it worked maybe 40% of the time And I was so shocked when I got an iPhone 11 and I could actually use biometric unlocks reliably
My last three phones were an iPhone 6, X and 13 and I don't miss Touch ID at all on them. One thing that puts me off buying an iPad is that Face ID is only on the Pro model. Touch ID however is really useful on a Macbook in my experience and being able to use my Watch to unlock/authorise things on my Mac Mini is a really great feature.
Nope, nope. Mm-mm nope! I disagree, Face ID is way better. Look, I live Touch ID, I mean I’m rocking an iPhone 6S as we speak, but to say that it’s better? Naaah, when my hands are sweaty, I know that I’m typing in the passcode. And sometimes the home button doesn’t even work, you press it a couple times and it still won’t show you the keypad. Face ID is leagues ahead, tap (or raise) your phone and swipe. Done!
I love that with my samsung I get to use both. yeah, the face unlock is just using my front facing camera but I love options. its why I switched back! apple should put both in the iphone, as both have their moments where they shine and their moments where one wouldn't do its job effectively and the other would.
I use an SE2020 with the home button and touch ID and i absolutely HATE IT like imagine trying to unlock your phone with leather gloves (-20*C)? IMPOSSIBLE. imagine trying to use your phone with sweaty palms? IMPOSSIBLE. THE BUTTON DOES NOT WORK AT ALL.
For me FaceID is better at least because all my notifications are hidden unless I look at my phone. The other thing is nobody can unlock my phone when I’m asleep or something. And let’s not forget how seamless it’s to log into apps with FaceID Great video overall! UPD: Just remembered all of the small features that are enabled by FaceID like: 1. Phone doesn’t automatically lock while you’re looking at it 2. All alarms and phone calls are much quieter when you look at the phone
there is also the possibility to have the apple logo on the behind to be the touchID sensor (or just put it behind the screen like every android phone)
Touch ID is literally the worst imagine having to tap 3 or 4 times on your screen to unlock whatever app you wanted. Plus it have worst recognition than Face ID (at least in the SE devices I owned). Before I used to be on android and having to move my finger to a place i didn’t,t wanted to plus having skin problems it wouldn't just work at all. At least with Face ID there’s less friction and it feel so great
@@fedfer banking apps / password manager apps have this feature when you can unlock them with biometric which is incredibly useful since you usually have to use them a lot and I think the password / Touch ID think have a lot of friction compared to Face ID where it just feel flawless
Really for me I like touch ID the most, but my hands are sweaty ALL THE TIME, so face ID really makes things better for me, touch id never recognizes my finger when i'm sweaty
Options: 1- Face ID + Touch ID under the screen 2- Face ID + Touch ID on the side button (Apple will have to redesign the cases, in a harder way) 3- Face ID + Touch ID on the back Apple logo (Apple will have to redesign the cases, in an easier way, which will also make the back tap better)
I’m team Touch ID Cos on my 14pro max The Face ID doesn’t always work If I’m unlocking a bank app or any app to pay There has to be certain brightness in a room
I prefer Face ID because all I have to do is look at my phone to unlock it, which I would do anyways. If you have eczema, a skin condition when your body is missing skin cells, then Touch ID sensors cannot easily detect your fingers.
2:47 another point is that other companies use underscreen fingerprint sensors so if companies like One Plus, Samsung, and gootlel can make underscreen sensors so can Apple🤦♂️
personally, I like face id better cuz if I have dirty fingers or gloves I can just scan my face to unlock the phone but I also do understand the advantages of touch ID
I've switched from a mid-range android device to my now beloved iPhone 13 Pro last year. I am loving everything but the one thing I am still missing is touch id / a proper fingerprint sensor. I mean, I just don't get it. On my android device the fingerprint sensor was at least as reliable as face id but like you've pointed out: Touch id always is more seamless and less distracting.
I love Touch ID and I'll always prefer it to Face ID, but me and Touch ID on my iPhone SE 1st Gen ended on a little beef when it locked me out of my bank account for failing too many times.
In my scenario Face ID is way better because most of the time my hands are sweating. My iPhone 8 and iPad Air's Touch ID button have 50% chance failing when I try to use them.
I find Touch-ID on iPhones so annoying! It doesn't recognise your finger correctly all the time! Either your finger is sweaty, or dirty, or what ever. Face-ID recognises my face pretty much always. I subjectively feel like, it is also faster. I understand, that while laying sideways, or something, it doesn't work either. They should definitely fix that. It works on the iPad too. I've used an iPhone with Touch-ID for over 4 years and then I got an iPhone with Face-ID right in the middle of covid and mask-wearing. I still find it better! Especially with Unlock-With-Apple-Watch. Annoying that that hasn't made it to the iPad! But I think, we can all agree that Face-ID on a Mac doesn't make sense at all! Because you always had to confirm with a double-tap on a button, or something. Then, it could just scan your finger anyway.
They could put touch id in the apple logo on the back of the phone, i have never set up face id on my iphone x or 12 pro and i don't think i ever will, i'm using the manual passcode each time. I really miss touch id, the only upside is that it helps me remember some of my passwords better when using my iphone without face id
for me, i prefer face id...my fingers (tho always clean) half the time dont get recognized because i sweat a lot...so the idea of not having to wipe my fingers to unlock my phone is WAY better. also really thought you'd have a million subs...great job!
Face ID is only useful in winter with gloves on. Otherwise, it hardly ever works for me. It takes 3s on average compared to the half second a fingerprint sensor takes, which is irritating. Worst thing is that every once in a while, it just disables and forces me to input the passcode, making biometrics useless with gloves too. Dumb Apple should copy their iPad solution and give us Touch ID on the iPhone lock button. Make it out of sapphire and solve this issue.
I think touch id is significantly better because it's kind of hard to to get somebody's thumb and put it on the sensor and with face ID I can't tell you all the times that people have unlocked each others phones just by taking them and pointing it at them.
Bruh i didnt know iphone no longer has finger sensor and now i learned that you have to wake you phone then put in infront of face then swipe again? Im glad to have finger sensor , one touch is all it take from sleep to conpletely unlocked and i unlocked it usually even before in look at it.
Ikida love face touch id i use iphone se 3 and iphone 14 pro and i mostly use iphone se 3 and i was thinking ill return iphone 14 but i wish apple makes a larger size of se ❤❤😊 with TOUCH ID
What if Face ID ends up being more sophisticated. Like say you pass away and they try to use your FaceID to sense body heat to know if you’re “active” or not. 😂
One thing that is very cool is apple watch unlock, it helps when face id is.... trying it's best. But apple seems to beleive that the ipad and the apple watch may never talk to each other :/
It doesn't matter if it's on iOS or Android, touch unlocking is much better than facial unlocking, you don't depend on lighting, if you have something on your face it doesn't matter
the problem is, why cant apple do both. just make it the persons choice, do they want the touch ID, or the face ID. Or, maybe create sound ID to make it even easier?? we are waiting Tim cook. WE ARE WAITING..
The reason face id is better is cause with touch id skin can get dirty skin can peel off and your not always putting your phone in the exact spot. I use touch id on my 9th gen and its not consitant unlike face id it gets it every time even if i have a hat and a mask it only hasent worked like 5 times of my life
the touch ID sensor in the power off button isn’t a bad idea, but literally everyone puts a case on your phone. how would that work with a case on? also, i just got the 15 coming from an SE. face ID is 100000% better, and i haven’t had a single issue with it
Knowing apple if they ever make a product with both they'll increase its price to get revenue from the ones who prefer touchID and make it seems to others that touchID is just so expensive that it's not worth it. Solution: switch to android (not the Pixel 7a, its sensor it's pretty bad)
FaceID works so flawlessly whilst TouchID is so finicky, a bit of dirt, sweat, water or anything on your finger and it won’t work. Not to mention when it is freezing cold and you have to remove your gloves to TouchID
apple should give face id to macs because they are the right thickness (probably) edit 2: touchi id could be more secure edit 2 part 2: touch id could be more secure edit 3: at 2:57, why cant we use the power button as touch id just like on ipads?
i do like the idea of having both touch id and face id on the iphone. but i think apple chose face id because it gave them a "unique" identity to differentiate themselves from the other "edge to edge" screen smartphones... i understand the move as a marketing "masterclass" but still pretty annoying.
Team FaceID. It is safer and more modern not to mention a Touch ID Fails like 80 %of the time. FaceID fails only when face covered, face not there, not lookin at your phone. Face ID is just better than Touch ID.
for me the main point is SAFETY. someone could easily thrust your phone in your face and unlock it. with touch id, it IS much easier to hold back your finger from the sensor than to hide your face.
People say brand new iPhone SE which is budget phone will get face id, my dear frineds i am 100% sure it won't get it why 1.Expensive 2.Face ID is only for flagship models. Cheaper iPads don't have Face ID too only Touch ID so I'm 100% sure they will use iPhone XR design and put touch ID to the power button and with it we might bet smaller Notch or get Punch Hole like Androids do and i think that iPhone might look better with a Punch Hole
The insistance on Face ID ONLY seems like such an Apple thing. It forces the iPhone to have that ugly notch that's just a waste of finite screen real estate. By now, it seems like Apple would've figured out a way to put all that gear under the display and in the camera. 🤷🏾♂️
I'm team Face ID as a converted Android user, and I've gotta say that all of you asking for under-screen fingerprint readers haven't seen how slow and janky it can really be on an Android phone. This discussion also misses the detail that Face ID collects more data points than Touch ID-200,000 vs 20,000 vs ~5,000 from an under-display fingerprint reader. This means Face ID statistically has less false positives and takes more work to defeat it with a fake. It also probably helps that I wear gloves often for various reasons, and while gloves hard shut down Touch ID with no possible workaround, Face ID at least now works when you're wearing a mask. As for why not both? I don't think Apple sees both as necessary; Face ID works well enough and Touch ID works well enough-they don't see the point of using both to fill the niche gaps where one is worse than the other. Also 4:27 I find it easier to actually glance at the phone to unlock it than to have to put my finger on the right spot to unlock the phone. That said, I've never used a phone where the fingerprint sensor was on a physical home button, instead of being on the back or under-display.
por que no los dos?

Worst thing is that every once in a while, it just disables and forces me to input the passcode, making biometrics useless with gloves too. Dumb Apple should copy their iPad solution and give us Touch ID on the iPhone lock button. Make it out of sapphire and solve this issue.
Man I miss the home button too!
My Samsung phone from 2019 has both Face recognition and fingerprints as biometrics. Why can't a 2023 iPhone have it?
also, why cant apple just get an under screen fingerpeint sensor
it would be better if you mentioned EYE-D for longer than a second but maybe this video was made before vision pro
A moment of science for thé home button 😔 …BADUH I HAVE AN SE 3 WITH HAM BUTTON
As a Spanish (Mexico) myself I wanted to burn my ears off after the last part😅
Ay tampoco estuvo tan mal.
What if Face ID ends up being more sophisticated. Like say you pass away and they try to use your FaceID to sense body heat to know if you’re “active” or not. 😂
Honestly I was so mad when apple didn't put a sensor under the screen or on the power button.
One thing that is very cool is apple watch unlock, it helps when face id is.... trying it's best.
But apple seems to beleive that the ipad and the apple watch may never talk to each other :/
face id may not work on day/night but touch id can work on anytime
Yo how the hell did the subscribe button glow when u said explore that subscribe button
Petition to make the apple logo double as a finger print reader
It doesn't matter if it's on iOS or Android, touch unlocking is much better than facial unlocking, you don't depend on lighting, if you have something on your face it doesn't matter
the problem is, why cant apple do both. just make it the persons choice, do they want the touch ID, or the face ID. Or, maybe create sound ID to make it even easier??
we are waiting Tim cook. WE ARE WAITING..
The reason face id is better is cause with touch id skin can get dirty skin can peel off and your not always putting your phone in the exact spot. I use touch id on my 9th gen and its not consitant unlike face id it gets it every time even if i have a hat and a mask it only hasent worked like 5 times of my life
what if ur homeless do u still want the homebutton
what happens if your hand gets cut off
the touch ID sensor in the power off button isn’t a bad idea, but literally everyone puts a case on your phone. how would that work with a case on? also, i just got the 15 coming from an SE. face ID is 100000% better, and i haven’t had a single issue with it
2:49 maybe with under display touch id?
Knowing apple if they ever make a product with both they'll increase its price to get revenue from the ones who prefer touchID and make it seems to others that touchID is just so expensive that it's not worth it. Solution: switch to android (not the Pixel 7a, its sensor it's pretty bad)
See, I was initially thinking about getting an iPhone 12, but you’re swaying me to get an SE
I am actually more the FaceID guy. Face ID has always been more comfortable for me.
Put Touch ID in the power button.
FaceID works so flawlessly whilst TouchID is so finicky, a bit of dirt, sweat, water or anything on your finger and it won’t work. Not to mention when it is freezing cold and you have to remove your gloves to TouchID
I have TouchID on my iPad and wish I had went to the iPad Pro instead of the Air just to get FaceID… TouchID is horrible and almost never works
you should have mentioned samsung phones that have their touch id inside the display. its awesome i use it and ive never had an issue
If you have a unlocked Apple watch on your wrist you can set it up to unlock your phone when it cant see your face good and it works most of the time
apple should give face id to macs because they are the right thickness (probably)
edit 2: touchi id could be more secure
edit 2 part 2: touch id could be more secure
edit 3: at 2:57, why cant we use the power button as touch id just like on ipads?
also Samsung phones have Touch ID with edge-to-edge display so 🤷🏿♀️
i do like the idea of having both touch id and face id on the iphone. but i think apple chose face id because it gave them a "unique" identity to differentiate themselves from the other "edge to edge" screen smartphones... i understand the move as a marketing "masterclass" but still pretty annoying.
ngl apple shouldn't have removed touch id, they could like put on display fingerprint (WHICH MORE FASTER THAN TOUCH ID BTW)
Team FaceID. It is safer and more modern not to mention a Touch ID Fails like 80 %of the time. FaceID fails only when face covered, face not there, not lookin at your phone. Face ID is just better than Touch ID.
Ipads have touch id in the power button 2:55
for me I would prefer Touch ID on a phone and Face ID on a MacBook
Just having no password duh
Jokes aside I wish they would implement both techniques in one product
for me the main point is SAFETY. someone could easily thrust your phone in your face and unlock it. with touch id, it IS much easier to hold back your finger from the sensor than to hide your face.
YOOOO MY FAVORITE CREATOR UPLOADED
People say brand new iPhone SE which is budget phone will get face id, my dear frineds i am 100% sure it won't get it why
1.Expensive
2.Face ID is only for flagship models.
Cheaper iPads don't have Face ID too only Touch ID so I'm 100% sure they will use iPhone XR design and put touch ID to the power button and with it we might bet smaller Notch or get Punch Hole like Androids do and i think that iPhone might look better with a Punch Hole
Finally! Someone else who understands the fact that TouchID is superior.
Just curious is your profile a mix of the Apple and Mac logos because I see it
The insistance on Face ID ONLY seems like such an Apple thing. It forces the iPhone to have that ugly notch that's just a waste of finite screen real estate. By now, it seems like Apple would've figured out a way to put all that gear under the display and in the camera. 🤷🏾♂️
touch id only works 5% of the time on my ipad 8th gen
and face id has failed 2 times in 6 months
Good luck using using Touch ID with Gloves,
For who works with gloves it’s Face ID is necessary
when is the next episode of judging your iPhone homescreens!!
