  • Hi budgeting family! We are back with another grocery haul - with a twist! With tropical storms Fred, Grace, and a TD Eight heading to the gulf I thought I'd spend this weeks grocery money on a few last minute needs. You just never know what the storms are going to do and I live on the water in Mississippi so it’s better to be safe than sorry. In addition to the hurricane prep grocery haul, I included what I keep in my hurricane prep box. I hope you find this video entertaining or helpful in some way. Happy watching friends! With Love, Jordan

Great videos as everyone now panics to buy quickly depleting supplies. You saw what's coming! One thing that is always forgotten is a fire extinguisher. Haven't seen all your videos, but worth mentioning publicly for those seeking information. Good luck with the storm!

Good point and I totally agree! My channel isn't typically disaster prep so I appreciate you mentioning it for my community! ❤️

⚠️Here is a very important safety announcement to everyone when using portable generators for power outages:
Always make sure you follow all the generator safety rules whenever you use your portable generator. This is just a reminder. It is always important to follow all the safety instructions to avoid hazards.
Here are the generator safety tips that need to be followed:
      1) KEEPING OTHERS SAFE: Please do not allow an unqualified person or your children to operate and service the portable generator. Just because some manuals don’t say that doesn’t mean it’s safe. That is important against the generator safety rules. We also need to be keeping an eye on our children too. You need to make sure that your children are not playing near the portable generator especially when it’s running so they won’t get electrocuted. Generators pose electrical risks and they can be hot during an operation. Please keep your children away from the portable generator at all times. It is important to keep our children safe especially our little ones. Be aware of all the hazards.
      2) WHERE TO RUN YOUR GENERATOR: Some people use their portable generators indoors which increases the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning. It’s important to have a carbon monoxide if you have a gas generator. Never ever use your generator indoors even if your doors and windows are open and even in the garage is not safe to use a portable generator. Not even at your porch and your deck. It is never safe to use your generator indoors and in enclosed areas of your home. Your generator needs to be 15-20 feet away from your house.
3)🔥FIRE HAZARDS: Never refuel your generator while it’s running. You need to let your generator cool off before refueling it and before storing your generator. Never overload your generator too. Never ever back feed your generator. You should never plug your generator into a wall outlet. Also never store propane tanks indoors. Please keep flammable things away from the generator as well and please don’t smoke cigarettes near the generator. Having a fire extinguisher next to the generator is also important against the generator safety rules.
      4) GENERATOR OPERATION: make sure your hands are dry before touching the generator. Never use your generator in wet conditions. Don’t let your generator get wet. You need a generator tent if you need to use your generator during wet weather. Please don’t wear loose clothes when operating the generator. Turn on your generator before plugging in appliances. Use the right cord for your generator. Please do not use worn out cords.
ua-cam.com/video/I1jT3ANENvI/v-deo.html and here is a video more about keeping others safe when using generators
      Hope this helps

One thing that sailors carry that might be helpful if stranded after storm is an ear wax removal kit for blockages, they can be excruciatingly painful .. they do not need an emergency room visit if a person has the kit available at any pharmacy. Without the drops to remove them, it's almost impossible .. and the drops and rinse syringe only take ten to fifteen minutes to unblock a hugely painfully wax plug in the ear canal. Same at sea, I always keep a kit handy and they last for years if unopened. Great video, thanks .. be safe, be well, Cheers,

the adapter hose from the bbq tank to stove saves money from the lil tanks. just get the mr buddy better one the cheap one breaks. as for duracell batteries ive had them.. leak.. only work when pressed together.. not work after a small drop.. and one was reversed polarity?🤔 rayovac always was bad from when i was a kid.. i only use energizer batteries. writing expire month & year on stuff helps.
5 walmarts i been to yesterday was out of paper plates.. cooking oil.. gatoraide.. sugar.. some juices..

    • @JordanBudgets
      @JordanBudgets  2 роки тому +1

Thanks for all of the helpful tips! I have had issues with Duracell but thought it was just a battery problem, I'll have to try Energizer and see if I like it better. Are you in the South? The groceries here are EMPTY after the hurricane. I'm told it's because a lot of the warehouses are in Louisiana. These last few weeks have been a huge wakeup call as to just how fragile our supply chain is. I'm currently dipping in to emergency money to buy more freeze dried/emergency food.

@@JordanBudgets i had duracell batteries in the package still in date stored good leak i saw a video someone else same thing. im in FL since 2004 from NY originally. but traveled all over. i cant say why certain walmart stuff is gone? it could be because of louisiana.. but during katrina it was different stuff gone. water bread meats peanut butter ramen noodles.. i videoed back then of what was gone. i been hearing the shipping container cost went up like 1000% so i wonder if the $1 store will become the $10 store lol.

I live in Hawaii and a few wks ago, I saw my local Walmart had 5 gallon jugs ( simple, basic, blue/clear one) for under $10. I got 2 and as I was checking out, the clerk was like oh are we getting a Hurricane? I said no, that's why you get this stuff now hehe...I just went yesterday and saw they have a little bit fancier one ( square design) at 7 gallon ( but it was $18!)...I already have about 2 months of food stored and am trying to have one month stored all the time, to dip into next year maybe, etc..haha, yes, in Hawaii, we break up the uncooked ramen noodles in the bag and sprinkle the seasoning on it and we called it the Poorman's ( Sour Cream and Onion) Chips!

It's not there!!! Hahah I feel so silly, I've looked over that can so many times. I think they just forgot to print on that batch or something, it's usually right across the top of the lid or the bottom of the can.
