Yes indeed. This episode features the best portrayal of an abusive relationship in an animated series since the classic 'Batman: The Animated Series' ep "Mad Love."
Seeing Soos reaction to being told that other girls will just hurt him does reach a little too close to home, since I've seen a few toxic and abusive relationships form from this mentality where one side stays with a toxic partner because they're guilt tripped into believing that they won't find anyone else who will love them.
If you stay with someone because you are afraid you won't find someone else to be with then you are just as toxic as anyone that mentally and verbally abuses their partners.

Can the 2 episodes really be compared though? One is about a woman emotionally abusing her boyfriend (this episode) and the other is about a man both physically and emotionally abusing his girlfriend (screams of silence.) While both men and women emotionally abuse their partners WAY too much, most s****y women can't really physically abuse their boyfriends the same way that s****y men can physically abuse their girlfriends. (I'm saying this as a straight cisgendered white man myself. Most men are naturally physically stronger then most women and tend to be inclined to lift weights and/or do physically demanding labour for a living more in general due to cultural and biological reasons.)
Yall ever notice that part where Ford tells Dipper about that Alien Glue and explicitly NOT to touch it. Then Ford spend the rest of the episode man handling the glue side of the disc like it's Elmers or somethin?

When we were younger we thought this was just creepy and funny but as we grew older we began to realize how realistic this is. Even though tiffifiny(I’m not sure if I spelled it right if I did I’m to lazy to change it) being an AI it is relatable in real life terms, people deal with things similar to this episode and like most people said in the comments the victim is guilt tripped into staying with their partner

as toxic and as mean as giffany was, it does make me happy that they retconned her death. Like, put yourself in her shoes. She's basically a living person trapped in a floppy disk. She's still conscious even when the game is off, paused, or not even in a floppy drive. How lonely must she be? She's basically in solitary confinement for her entire existence. Of course she's clingy and possessive. That doesn't make her right, and it's not on Soos to be her therapist by being her boyfriend, but she didn't deserve to die. Here's hoping Rumble stops thinking about fighting and power ups long enough to be a good boyfriend for her
Giffany was like. Actually a monster of a person and did some straight up unforgivable shit, but that doesn't justify her death. Like that's the sort of thing no one deserves (but like don't get me wrong. The wellbeing of a victim always comes before that of an abuser. Fact of matter is, tho, the things aren't mutually exclusive. Although depending on circumstances may require the latter be straight up physically relocated)
The first thing she remembers after becoming self aware was her creator trying to kill her. So she became a little desperate for someone to give her the love she was programmed to want but could never get.
Giffany looked so... Sad and confused when she was paused as if she was wondering why Soos would hurt her like that... I don't know whether I should support Soos or... Giffany in this scenario... Soos, 100% Soos, Giffany's too crazy to support
I think it would be best to support the man who’s getting gaslight by the terrifying computer AI that has stated she murdered her own game devs that made her.
@@train4292 It could be argued that that was in self-defence because they were trying to delete her. That obviously doesn’t justify what she’s doing to Soos though.
Yeah like she was done acting and instead show her true self. That part where she was a game character is all an act, she's definitely a trapped spirit in the game and it shows
So a thought... If she's actually sentient there could be a very good reason for her obsession with Soos. Like... literally she's trapped in the computer with no access to anything but him. Without him she has nothing. She's desperate.

2017 vs 2010
Never really thought of that before but that’s actually pretty close..
@@PsychoticGirl2003 I actually forgot I made this post
I love he never once raises his voice in anger only in fear, it’s signs of abuse and he handles it in a way he feels won’t hurt anyone long term guys got a lot more relationship skills than he thinks
Soos really got someone who he deserves better :) and her name is Melody.
Melody Is Way better than giffany.
Soos shows real strength and clarity in how he keeps pushing back here. He's confused and scared, but he knows this isn't right, he's hurting, and he needs to do something. Finally, he pauses.
Honestly he shouldn't have.
This girl gives me the same vibes as the companys that are telling us they are listening while at the same time forcing us to buy microtransactions and NFTs
Soos out here going through tough times rn and even going as far as to be insulted by a yandere video game girl.... when will it stop??😥😫
When it’s demo disc time….. wink
you know, this episode from Gravity Falls is way better than Family Guy’s screams of silence episode
@sitiy 18 NO.
@@non-binary-anachronism It's good your're reporting spammers andcalling them on their nonsense
Can the 2 episodes really be compared though? One is about a woman emotionally abusing her boyfriend (this episode) and the other is about a man both physically and emotionally abusing his girlfriend (screams of silence.)
While both men and women emotionally abuse their partners WAY too much, most s****y women can't really physically abuse their boyfriends the same way that s****y men can physically abuse their girlfriends.
(I'm saying this as a straight cisgendered white man myself. Most men are naturally physically stronger then most women and tend to be inclined to lift weights and/or do physically demanding labour for a living more in general due to cultural and biological reasons.)
Screams of what
Oh right screams of silence that one with the…. Yikes
I got nightmares because of that episode, rewatching it now after seeing Fnaf and DDLC I'm fine now
JUST MONIKA
This episode teaches me about find someone better than a toxic friend or girlfriend to be with and also be careful for who you trust
Yall ever notice that part where Ford tells Dipper about that Alien Glue and explicitly NOT to touch it. Then Ford spend the rest of the episode man handling the glue side of the disc like it's Elmers or somethin?
Yep. I'm also surprised the rift wasn't broken when Dipper put it in his bag and went on a joyride on the spaceship.
Also why did Dipper bring the rift in the first place instead of leaving it locked in the bunker?
It feels like a dumb thing just fir the plot
jokes aside, her color palette is amazing
I like how her hair… clips are just computer stuff
Same
I wish I had a pause button. When gf gets mad
Now I'm picturing a gamer dude saying "pause" and pressing the pause button while his gf is mad...As a woman, I predict a few possible results:
She goes along with it
She keeps shouting, possibly going on a tangent about him playing videogames
She pouts, possibly storming off
She tries to stay mad but starts laughing
When we were younger we thought this was just creepy and funny but as we grew older we began to realize how realistic this is. Even though tiffifiny(I’m not sure if I spelled it right if I did I’m to lazy to change it) being an AI it is relatable in real life terms, people deal with things similar to this episode and like most people said in the comments the victim is guilt tripped into staying with their partner
>insults giffany's race
>has no commitment
>tells her to "calm down"
*Based soos*
What is …. Video game characters are a race
Does that mean I’m mass murderer of game characters?……..

Soos is secretly the god emperor of mankind
That simply cannot be true. The god emperor has multiple wives. Has had probably thousands maybe 10s of thousands across the several millennia
@@PsychoticGirl2003 your point?
@@opone3010 He isn’t the god emperor
My mom always hated this episode because she thought it was too creepy lol. I love it though
Even Alex Hirsh finished a yandere sim before yanderedev did lol
as toxic and as mean as giffany was, it does make me happy that they retconned her death. Here's hoping Rumble stops thinking about fighting and power ups long enough to be a good boyfriend for her
Where did they retcon her death
@@heyyo966 journal 3
Giffany was like. Actually a monster of a person and did some straight up unforgivable shit, but that doesn't justify her death. Like that's the sort of thing no one deserves (but like don't get me wrong. The wellbeing of a victim always comes before that of an abuser. Fact of matter is, tho, the things aren't mutually exclusive. Although depending on circumstances may require the latter be straight up physically relocated)
The first thing she remembers after becoming self aware was her creator trying to kill her. So she became a little desperate for someone to give her the love she was programmed to want but could never get.
Yeah she doesn't deserve death.
*just have her suffer in the game for all eternity, just like the shadow realm.*
I think Giffany A.I. stands for Artificial Insanity.
Emphasis on "insanity", I mean, YIKES. She is *8-bit notes* up!!!!
You bought my game, you held my books, *you met my octopus father* , NOW SIT DOWN IN THAT CHAIR!
This episode is like a combination of doki doki literature club fnaf yandere sim and chuck e cheese
@@train4292 Why possess?
@@kittycuddler_4437 That was meant to say support, i dunno HOW i put Posses there-
@@train4292 It could be argued that that was in self-defence because they were trying to delete her. That obviously doesn’t justify what she’s doing to Soos though.
Amazing episode but still as some chills to this day
"Pause" is sooz safe word

How did this girl predict, DDLC, Yandere girls, and Omoris Sweetheart all at once
I'm starting to think this is how plankton felt..
finally, the pause button does something for once

What a wholesome relationship
And healthy to boot
Can a wholesome relationship even exist with a yandere in it? lol
I guess it just depends on what kind of people they are.

This is one of the Hardest Moments of Tension I've ever seen on Gravity Falls.
What is the scariest is that her voice went from robot like voice to an actual female voice which is terrifying
You is Jessica DiCicco the voice actor of every female cartoon characters
Yeah like she was done acting and instead show her true self.
That part where she was a game character is all an act, she's definitely a trapped spirit in the game and it shows
Giffany's VA is lowkey showing her Flame Princess side.
*you knew the relationship is serious when you held her books* 🤣
So a thought...
If she's actually sentient there could be a very good reason for her obsession with Soos. Like... literally she's trapped in the computer with no access to anything but him. Without him she has nothing. She's desperate.
Understandable
Tfw Monika decides to bend time and reality to appear on a kids' cartoon
Soos: paused Giffany
Giffany : so you have choosen death

idk why but imagining the episode just ending here with Giffany just saying "OK bye loser" is so funny to me
Wow. Just imagine if they wasted that much build up for her to just do that XD
To go bye loser
That’s funny to me too
I bet Bill Cipher created that game.

The one time Gravity Falls predicted DDLC.
Soos deserves someone with accurate lipflaps
