NEW Traxxas Catamaran M41 FPV vs Traxxas Spartan Boat Drag Race!

- Got the All New Traxxas Catamaran M41Wide Body that just came out and my very first RC Boat. Playin in our backyard (Discovery Bay) at my buddy Joel's house against his Traxxas Spartan. Both these boats are stock and a whole lotta fun in the water!
The Catamaran vs The Spartan drag race. Prior to the these drag race video footage the Catamaran was able to beat the Spartan twice when both went head to head. As soon as I put the GoPro on it was a different story the Spartan was able to beat me with ease. The only excuse I can come up with is the weight of the GoPro cause the motor trimming to be out of wacked (more weight in the rear). I also flip the catamaran before the drag race on its top which the hull filled up with water and don't think I got all the water out causing more weight. I will also try to re-position the batteries more in the front to offset the GoPro weight. Stay tune for round #4. UDLUUZ is coming back for revenge!!

The gopro was definitely a factor in the races! I wanna see them with the same batteries and no gopros.

Aawww man amigo!!! Ur killing me !! I gots the cash in my pocket and can’t decide between the Spartan n the M-41. I love the catamaran look but the stability of the Spartan is admirable. Ur the man... ur so close to both these boats... make up my mind... which one shall I take off the store shelf????? Also, how did u mount the GoPro on the boat cuz I will surely be trying that!! m41 is gorgeous
both have the same motor and esc? there's absolutely no way a v hull should be beating the catamaran here!! im quessing the m41 isnt set up right and or the spartan is running better lipos
I have them both and the spartan is always faster
The reason the spartan is faster is because it planes so well the the v is almost completely out of the water, and catamaran is always touching the water with its bow causing more drag. And the batteries are both nimh
spartan is a pound lighter. i only realized this through doing research on buying one recently
And the Spartans got a camera on it weighing it down

Believe it or not I found a killer deal on a Spartan and ordered it thinking it'd be faster than the M41 because of the size difference... Guess I was right! Awesome video man
Both are great boats you wont be disappointed. In my description and its unfortunate that I didn't capture it on video but I was able to beat the Spartan twice and same length as it beat me. I thought I would be able to capture it on the GoPro and was surprised it was reversed. I think the added weight of the GoPro changed the trimming of the prop. Also I had previously flipped the boat on its top and don't think I got all the water out adding more weight. We shall see again for round #4 this weekend. Thanks for watching
+udluuz Excuses, excuses!! Just kidding, yeah that M41 is a badass machine! Probably would have bought it rather than the spartan if I had the extra cash.
Lol trust me I was gonna pull the trigger on the Spartan until my local hobby shop gave me a good deal on the M41. I'm still thinking about getting Spartan lol

Here is a bright idea take that go pro off the back of the M41. Trying to slow it down?
I know this "race" was all in good fun, that being said, if that version Spartan doesn't have TSM it will always launch harder than the M41 as the TSM prevents body roll by slowing the motor. Also the M41 has a goPro weighing it down. Thanks for the video. Thumbs up!
Am I the only one who thinks the m41 was getting the front flipped up and couldn’t reach top speed because of the GoPro??

Hello, how long would a spartan with stock batteries last?
My friend told me he was able to get 20min on 2x5000mah 3s traxxas lipos but said they would get hot. Experience some puffiness on one of the batteries. Its a stock Spartan
..thats a slightly choppy water, no doubt spartan got the win. I like how a deep vhull maintains a straight path. Catamaran runs faster in glass waters only.
Were you guys using the same battery's on both boats
5000mah traxxas battery on Spartan and Turnigy A-Spec 4.25 on Catamaran
+udluuz in your opinion what do you think about the catamaran
Its my first rc boat so I have nothing to compare it to, With a few tweaks and mods this catamaran can really tear things up. Its a great boat
+udluuz in have one last question for you so when you purchased the boat did it come with a stand and if it didn't how much did you get yours for
It comes with a collapsible stand shown in the very beginning of the video
You should have put the camera on the Spartan for a couple drags, I bet it was slowing the catamaran down.
Yes next time out both will have GoPro's so it will be a level playing field

look at the pro boats they had to put a bigger more powerful motor in the v3 impulse to get it to the same speed as the miss geico/blackjack 29inch catamarans

There’s something very wrong there. I have both and the Spartan is not that fast against the M41.
what is the advantages of each
Spartan possibly has less friction to the water due to the single "V" shaped hull. The catamaran is more stable due to the two "toons" (if they are called that)
Do you get water inside the M41 after running it? I ran mine for the 2nd time and both times I saw water afterwards.
RCMods you get water in all boats, I get a ton more of water in my Blast.
A little bit of water is normal but a lot is bad
Spartan is more faster than m41 but I like m41 the most

it's not really a fair race.....the spartan will have the advantage if you run the same electronics and batteries just for the simple fact it will have less surface contact with the water even though the catamaran has the stability advantage it's also got a hell of a lot more surface in contact with the water at all times

No actually my little brother has the in m41 and I have the Spartan and in an oval race there's almost no difference.
so the the original is faster than the new m41 ?
