    This video provides a good idea of what must be done to do the job. Thanks. Producing and editing a video is time-consuming and a PITA in itself. For the viewers; It's a good idea, to watch three or four different videos about the same task, or parts of the same task. Usually one can pick up a tip or two from each video, lending more information and a better idea of what's going on. IMO

    I wish you showed the actual valve adjustment process for those of us less mechanically gifted. Otherwise super helpful video!

    Nice video 👍
    The procedure is basically the same as on my NC700S however the fairing components are so much more complex on the CTX it's astonishing....
    Just did mine and taking it easy it took me about 90 minutes.
    Safe rides 👍🏍

    Thanks for taking time to make the video Steve. Did my CTX valves a couple years ago. They were also on the tight side. Could have used a couple of your pointers at the time. Mario

    4:14, I had the same problem with the cap bolts on the side. Couldn't get them out, but I chose to place a cut on the plastic piece, slide the plastic out and used vice grips and 7/16 to remove the bolts. I replaced them with another hex bolt and washer with anti-seize on the threads.

    For this job on the same bike the dealer in NY wanted $800 plus parts + gaskets and to keep my bike for 5 days.

      The whole process can take a few hours. No one wants to see everything so I just put in what I thought was important.

    Fantastic video - you show important details that are lacking in the NC700X valve check / adj videos! So Cylinder #1 (9:20) is front brake lever side and cylinder #2 is Clutch lever side (10:07). Could you take a picture of the service manual - I have a 2012 NC700X and the manual I downloaded online says to use the top hash mark at the top next to the valve cover / top of the cylinder head but other people say there is an error and the bottom mark (9:45) is the correct one to use.

      I had a mechanic adjust the valves once when I got home i noticed dried hardened mud in 2 of the allen screws holding the valve cover in place. The mud would be powdered if the tool had been used to loosen them. He was busted and gave me my money back.

      @@marcbee1234 Dishonest mechanic's like that need to be shamed and if they work for an authorized dealer reported to someone higher up the food chain at that dealership. Unfortunately there are a lot of fly by night guys passing themselves off as bona fide motorcycle mechanics that can make an owner of a bike want to permanently remove that guy from ever even thinking about ripping someone off again. Hopefully you get what I am implying. This is why it is imperative that bike owners get to know at least the basics of what goes into keeping their bike in a good running condition. It's either that or have your bike falling apart and costing you a small fortune every time some type of repair is needed.

      OK!! Thanks wiping the sweat off....... time to learn something new anyways may do most of the stuff but rather pay if I can find a good price couple of decent bike shops around me should not get to dumb for prices. I am sure not cheap but not no 700 stinking dollars the crooks want at a place in Austin, Texas for that much better include but not limited to hands on step by step instructions.

      Is there any reason why honda didnt use shim bucket or hydrulic valves system on this & NC bike? 8k valves is alot of maintenance $$$. My yamaha dealer charged me 600$ for valve adj on fz07 last year at 25k.

    • @SuperSneakySteve
      @SuperSneakySteve  5 років тому +2

      @@techten1012 Honda pushed the intervals to 16K miles. It's much cheaper and easier to do screw type. I prefer it since you don't need to pull out the camshaft. Shim jobs you have to do less but cost more and take more time.
