I've had had this reel now for almost two years, it'll be two years in November. Here's some feedback for anyone thinking of purchasing this reel. At first, I spooled it with 4lb fluorocarbon. Its was okay but some backlashes were extremely frustrating, the line would slip in-between the spool and the side plate. Sometimes I could get the line out by gently pulling the line while rolling the spool forward with my thumb. When that didn't work, I had to pull out the screw driver and undo the two screws on the side plate (handle side) to get the spool out and free the line. I wish it had a quick release side plate like most reels. Eventually I got fed up with the 4lb and spooled it with 6lb line. The casting was much better and the backlashing was reduced a lot. The brakes were always on max, I had to further control the braking by using the tension knob as you saw in the video. The lightest I cast was around 1.5g, but that was for very close casting, no more than 15 meters (50ft). I mostly cast 2g lures, and the heaviest I dare cast was near 4g where I was able to achieve around 100ft casts and with the tension cranked, and that's casting with the wind. Sometimes I could cast where the side to side play was just eliminated with the tension knob, but the conditions had to be perfect, little to no wind. Lure style mattered. Soft plastic Lures with a T-tail paddle tail, or a curly tail would slow down in the air from wind drag, causing backlashes. I had more success casting thin, small minnow style lures with a fork tail or slim shallow diving hard body lures. What's this reel best for in my opinion? Close casting 20-50ft. To cast anything Under 2g further than that is very difficult. *THIS IS NOT A BFS REEL* This is more suited to stream fishing. If you're on a budget and want a nice looking round reel, this would be fine to use. If you want a budget BFS reel that won't kill your wallet, get the Kastking Zephyr. I hope this helped
This reel uses old school design; the copper inserts that come with reel are replacements for the spool shaft contact points. The spool tension is use for controlling the spool speed as much as the magnetic brakes are used for spool control. Isuzu Reels are retro style models without any braking system with the exception of the spool tension control. They are similar to Abu Garcia 2500c series reels custom built for BFS applications. Most are built using aftermarket parts with numerous gold plated parts among other jewelry level aftermarket parts. Using an old school reel is trendy however, a nightmare if you never use one. There are Japanese builders, but often getting one requires paying up front and being put on a waiting list. I found most cost around $1,400 dollars if you could find one for sale new. Building one is no cheap endeavor either however, if you want a one of a kind reel that is of no consequence. Hedgehog Studio offers all manner of parts to build one. Basically this reel just requires using your thumb to control the cast as well as your casting stroke.
Love my 1600c paired up with the old Calcutta 50xt rod! it’s a bass finesse dream! it’s like driving an old manual sports car and has landed a 10lb bass a 90cm Saratoga and some huge eel’s
I've used his reel for some time now, still holding up. This reel is a disaster for people who've never used older version of baitcaster. Line will slip into the spool if you're unable to thumb it well, have to remove the screw by the side plates to get the line out. I'm using 4lb fireline on it. In my opinion, this reel is definitely not for someone who's trying to get into BFS. Other than that, this reel is performing exceptionally well for its price.
Thank you for the video, a quick question: what's the best baitcaster with low gear ratio for cranking power, 5:5 :1 , 5.3:1 or even 5.1 :1 ? Budget is 100 bucks , used reel on ebay is OK too. Thanks a lot.
Good Review; I’ll pass on this one; I’m still very happy with my “Junk BFS” reel the GH-100. I; however, am waiting for one of your Chinese BFS reels that you recommend as a must have. The BFS reel that I run on my boat is still the Aldebaran MGL 50.
Hi, I have this reel. Is it possible to get stronger magnets to help with the braking? If so, what size and strength? Also, can I get them at Aliexpress or where can I get stronger magnets?
Hello. Is it possible to improve this reel? Are there any upgrades to improve smoothness? bearings? I know the subject is old but your advice would solve some small problems for me. Thank you
I was wondering if the issues you had with all the overruns in the beginning was maybe due to the really light 4lbs. test line you had it spooled with. This is why i always use Braided line instead, it seems to help me better. Great instructional video as always!!
I think I'll just stick with my Phantoms (Could've bought 2 of them, for what I paid for the Revo-SX, at the time...!) Haha! Revo is back in the box, and started fishing with 8-Strand Braid (Japanese), in 30#, 50#, and 65# (Frog Rod). Thanks for the "Run-Down" on that reel.
Hey, could you please let me know where you buy your jdm reels from, I just bought a scorpion dc 100HG off ebay. It seems like it was legit, but I'd like to shop with confidence next time and also know it wont take 3 weeks either.. please message me if you can. Thank you!
Weird that this company uses the modern Sabre logo from the once great fishing rod company based out of Southern California. The box art even matches the pattern of "carbon fiber" used on the modern junk saber fishing rods. Wonder if the Chinese company or factory that wraps the fishing rods also produces this reel.
hey man idk how to contact you other than posting a comment! anyways, what reel/rod would you recommend for BFS fishing with a total $500 budget? thanks!
THE REEL TEST ya but I found this channel thinking abt buying the piscifun phantom and now I’m watching all your videos and realized I didn’t sub, it feels like a website not a UA-cam channel because it’s so organized lol I subbed tho
Thanks for the vid man. Just wondering if you have looked at the Sabre DX100/101 drum baitcaster?, The shallow spool states as 8.6g on the Ruke Official Store on AliExpress?? Thanks man
Been using this reel for 2 years, it has served me well and I am still catching 2lbers on it without a problem
I'm tempted....I want a round reel

Much love my brother I really appreciate you.
He's name is Mikhalych ;)
And he make crazy things with most popular chinese reels ;)

7:18 Thank you for remembering me.
Я как только увидел на днях упоминание этого девайса на FB, сразу про тебя вспомнил 🤣 Жди наплыв азиатов на канал ;)
omg i hv saw this on aliexpress but 0 reviewss thank God that i was able to see this first b4 buying. tysm
Surprisingly you were still casting a good distance with the tension maxed
Hi
on the market is same bfs reel but in full metal Iron Claw NG501 ''The Tool''.
first comment I have been waiting for this review for ages now, I got one as well, and really like it. I am also purchasing a Calcutta Conquest BFS.
I got and had been used it few times and had landed some barra and yes this reel is worth u paying and no need the expensive brand
I have one too, 8lb braid felt very tolerable but i play on the upper end of bfs weight lures
I’ve been watching this reel for a few months now, interested if it holds up
I wonder if there is a magnet kit, and lighter spool for it. Still nice to have the conquest though. Throwin trout magnets out of the box heheh.
Awesome video matey, I’ve been thinking about grabbing this or the silver one for a while now. Shame about the performance though.
Thanks for the review! Very detailed and informative .
I think I will pass on this one.
I would not buy it again but it was worth a try

Love my Shimono SLX ,great for 100 bucks
I know I’m late, but for anyone else coming on by, only the first and last number on gear ratios matter.
All of the gear ratios are the same

That GH100 is the "must have" reel. The braking system alone sets it apart from the others. High dollar Shimano tech anyone can afford
Finally! I was asking you to test this JKS (Just Kidding Shimano) reel last year when I ordered it. It never came tho so I was like forget it. Lol
Hi,
I have this reel. Is it possible to get stronger magnets to help with the braking? If so, what size and strength? Also, can I get them at Aliexpress or where can I get stronger magnets?
How about a casting video with the abu revo 4 premier?
Hello. Is it possible to improve this reel? Are there any upgrades to improve smoothness? bearings? I know the subject is old but your advice would solve some small problems for me. Thank you
I've added ceramic bearings and a drag clicker
So do you think that’s what the extra shims are for it the tool bag so you don’t have to tighten the spool tension all the way down
could be...
If only this reel performed better
Hello when you review the black night bfs reel?
How about Black Knight bfs reel? Same like GH100?
Does anyone know what bearings this reel uses? Trying to buy upgrades for it.
I have a shimano scorpion 11dc......isnthere any way i can custom makena bfs reel with it?
What class are the bearings? And what is the size of the bearing on the spool and on the side panel?
I know I'm off the subject but have the last model of shimano citica made is there a bfs spool available for it
Does shimano make a reel in Calcutta conquest dc 50 silver color
I was wondering if the issues you had with all the overruns in the beginning was maybe due to the really light 4lbs. test line you had it spooled with. This is why i always use Braided line instead, it seems to help me better. Great instructional video as always!!
I did start out with used flouro that had alot of memory, but it really didnt matter even with fresh flouro... brakes too weak
Can you review the Abu Garcia Revo Deez8, I'm curious to see the review
If you send it I will
Do you plan on getting one of the KastKing Zephyr BFS? Of the cheaper BFS reels out there now, which is your favorite, GH, PW, or SpiritFox?
Yeah Ill try the Zephyr once it becomes available but for now my favorite chinese BFS reel is still the GH100
Have you already ordered the new Tsurinoya Dark Wolf 50? Seems a new contender vs the mighty Gh100...only in 5.3:1 ratio alas
I wasnt expecting much for $40 lol.
Where can I buy this from?
I think I'll just stick with my Phantoms (Could've bought 2 of them, for what I paid for the Revo-SX, at the time...!) Haha!
Revo is back in the box, and started fishing with 8-Strand Braid (Japanese), in 30#, 50#, and 65# (Frog Rod).

Does it have clicker drag?
I heard the spool of Abu Garcia Max3 can fit into this reel.
Can you try?
Because spool of Abu Garcia Max3 from aliexpress weight 9,5 gram
just get the spool in this video ua-cam.com/video/eeqeobDYvIU/v-deo.html
Could you find a big swim bait/ saltwater baitcaster for cheap that performs well?
Piscifun has an all metal big bait reel
If you’re trying for casting distance start out with mono because you don’t need to break in like Flouro
I was trying for "fishing"

How much can use in lb??
Hello! Does any of the light china spools (spiritfox)fit in the lews speed spool lfs?
Ill find out soon enough
hey man idk how to contact you other than posting a comment! anyways, what reel/rod would you recommend for BFS fishing with a total $500 budget? thanks!
I would buy 2 rods and 2 reels for that total
lew's latest custom lite reel in the foreseeable future?
sadly no, but the Speed Spool LFS yes...
I'm broke after ordering the conquest.. gotta go budget on the rod.. thinking the shimano sensilite.. what ya think.. luv the channel
He and others have vids on the Sensilite.
@@hgward Always spend the money on the rod not the reel!!
Ive found the sensilite not so "sensitive" lol... I would get the rod I used in this video. It will turn up the casting abilities on any BFS reel
@@rapalaman6681 ok ..what rod do recommend
is this reel really reliable?
Good produk
Had the same reel a few month ago (51 left handed) . Very clacky and the spool scratched in the frame. I was very disappointed. Poor quality reel...
get rid of the plastic rod handle cover mate :D
that will affect the resale value!
If you u40 it and do it right it wont affect resale.
Yeah 15 dollar rod for resale 🤣 also i doubt He will ever sell it
Spool is 13gr. Shimano BFS is 7gr.
I feel like so many people watch this guys videos but only a few little ppl sub
I feel that you dont know how youtube works
THE REEL TEST ya but I found this channel thinking abt buying the piscifun phantom and now I’m watching all your videos and realized I didn’t sub, it feels like a website not a UA-cam channel because it’s so organized lol I subbed tho
@@landonbragg6732 its all good, I know i could probably have double the subs if I begged on every video like some do lol..
Thanks for the vid man. Just wondering if you have looked at the Sabre DX100/101 drum baitcaster?, The shallow spool states as 8.6g on the Ruke Official Store on AliExpress??
Thanks man
What is a BFS reel?
Baitcaster finesse. Essentially you can cast very light lures with it.
and shallow spool =)
Bait finesse system to cast light lures below 9 grams generally speaking.
Promotion ACE HAWK 562 UL 1.67m Trout Fishing Rod NO Profit Carbon fiber Ultralight Spinning Solid Tip Fast Action Pole. Is this the right rod?
Yes thats the rod he uses
heres the video review of the rod i used ua-cam.com/video/3b4LRJQXZrg/v-deo.html
Matt 6:5-6
a billionaire's bunker is not going to save anyone from the wrath of Jesus.
Amen on that sir
Very true, you cant escape the creator! But the fact that they are building them makes you wonder what they are getting ready for
Really wish you'd tear into that sucker and show the guts of the reel. For $40 still worth trying. Also didnt know you were religous???
Mixalych TV tore it down. Im not religious, I woke up.
Take the plastics of that rod man...
Bro the remakes of the vintage reels are cheaper then the Abu Garcia 2500
