  • Reading of my original 2003 article titled "Whatever you do, don't quit cold turkey." It explains how back most professional literature, public health officials, government and voluntary health organizations, physicians and other health care workers will tell you that cold turkey is the least successful method of quitting smoking, and why you should not believe them.

I quit cold turkey over 10 years ago. It was the most personally empowering experience I have had as well as a lifesaving event. Thank you for the encouragement.

I quit cold turkey with Jo twice, in 2019 and again last year.
I couldn't have done it without you, Jo.
Missing YOUR voice on this one, Jo!
Not sure if this voice would have done it for me!!!!!
You need to re-hash this one, but with YOUR voice!!!!!

This was actually a rehash of an earlier version without graphics, and significantly longer.

I am trying to make shorter versions of some of my lengthier videos. When using AI transcribing, I can keep my videos more concise. This one was using the exact text of the article I wrote in 2003. Whenever I make a video, I cannot work off of script or read my own articles--I have to wing it live. It is due to a visual processing disorder that has made it very difficult to read alloud with any accuracy. Check out my reply to @everythingabouteverything3226 below that covers the different AI technologies I have been incorporating into my video productions and give a bit of background information as to why I have gone this route.

I quit cold turkey and never looked back. Lowering frequency, only weekends or other (imo) nonsense, never worked.

I am an ex-smoker not a non-smoker. Once your brain has been exposed to nicotine it's rewired for life and no matter how many years you go witthout smoking or how vehemently against smoking you are it's incredibly easy to fall back in to the trap. Always be on your guard.

    Joel are you using AI?

    • @joelspitz
      @joelspitz  4 місяці тому +1

Yes, I am using it quite a bit now to make new materials. I just wrote a bit of a lengthy reply to another person who commented on my use of AI in the production of this video. You might say AI has brought me back to life a little...that is after it first killed me off. :)
Check out the video ua-cam.com/video/jip9hi9QkOA/v-deo.html which will make this comment make a little more sense.
I produced it in September of 2023. Since then I have made several videos using different AI features. My first attempt was just using AI to create graphics and then released this video: ua-cam.com/video/FDmJHgGiIpg/v-deo.html
I made several videos using newly generated graphics made by AI with me adding new narration.
Recently I started working with AI voice reading of my articles. Here is one where I took my old article my cigarette, my friend, made an AI graphic and had AI speak out the article: ua-cam.com/video/WQ7DmUmw-sg/v-deo.html
Again, I did several of my old articles with this technique.
After that, I tried to experiment with language dubbing with AI. This page was where I first tried it: joelspitzer.wordpress.com/the-smokers-vow-translations/
I ended up kind of scrapping that idea for a while. Here is the video that explains why: ua-cam.com/video/gHRuadqzEnc/v-deo.html
This video is where I kind of figured out how to animate the AI a little more: ua-cam.com/video/MCHy3QLXGwA/v-deo.html
Also this one is where I used AI to create a morphing effect: ua-cam.com/users/shortsxz8v73-iA74
I originally retired from doing any real online work back in 2020 because of problems I was having with visual and auditory processing functions. I briefly touched on it in my retirement video here: ua-cam.com/video/2oooSRHlEyA/v-deo.html
AI has allowed me to do quite a bit more than I was able to do at that time, but doing much back and forth correspondence is still quite a task for me which is why I no longer respond to questions or comments on my channel. I have made an exception for commenting on my AI usage, more so for transparency purposes to the fact that AI is assisting in the production of these new materials. I actually felt I needed to explain why I popped back in last September to clear up the confusion of my passing and then last month when I was asking for feedback on the translation accuracy.
One other thing that has pushed me a bit put a little more effort into new materials production is the new problem with young people taking up nicotine pouch use in increasingly large numbers. The page whyquit.com/joels-videos/have-you-heard-of-zyn/ explains this issue and at times I will likely engage a bit more to get this information to areas where I think it can help. For now I haven't exactly worked out the best places to share this material where it will do the most good. If anyone reading here is involved with any young groups or online groups that are dealing with these products, please feel free to let them know about these new resources.
So these days I am redirecting my time to producing material more than on direct one on one support via the comment section of my channel.
I am glad that you are feeling that I am using the AI well for now.
      Joel
