I'm a widow, x 12 years, husband died when I was 56 (he was 61). I've encountered several men, widowed after long term marriages - they want to date, entertain the advances of many women and have lots of sex but they don't seek to fall in love. In other words, they don't want a serious relationship, because they are still in love with their wives. Widowers have to first fall out of love with their deceased wives, and that can take years (or might never happen).
That's funny considering that a lot of men at that age can't get it up and all they think about is sex still? I guess that's why Viagra so accessible. I literally saw a bunch of Viagra out in a gas station ready to be picked for just $10. Will they make us go out of our way to go to the doctor's appointment, to get a consultation, to get health insurance to cover that $800 birth control, the get the appointment to have it, otherwise that's coming out of your pocket .
I don''t find that 100% accurate. They do need to get past the grief, but love expands and there is enough to hold love for both past and present partners.
Anytime Gerry had a chance to talk about his first wife you could tell he was not over her. I think he was lonely and wanted companionship but not marriage. I did not think him and Theresa were a match anyway. She was desperate to find someone and he was aloof. Plus I think the show atmosphere is a whirlwind and people get all caught up in it. Theresa all starry eyed looking at him. They married so quickly, got a free wedding, ring, clothes etc. he got gigs on other shows. Living the high life for a old man. 15 mins of fame. What a bullshit show for the first Golden Bachelor.
Why the need to talk so negatively about something that didn’t affect us personally. It’s just a show n it was entertaining. That’s what shows are for. Just saying.
Anytime someone has been married to the one and only love for that many years never gets over them after death,, they just learn to live without them and to deal with the loss
@@Bb-k4gdI think people felt cheated that they spent so much time and emotional energy on a show that turned out to be all smoke and mirrors. Like: we should have known better.
so many men , espically older guys, plus 60,just want the sex with no real committment or relationship . These to me are horrible times for dating and dating sites are a total joke!! Done paid , as bad as the free ones!! A big racket!
I'd love a video talking about so many of us that are mid life and never married..I'm still hopeful that i will someday, but many of my peers have given up. Plus there's a stigma attached to us. Brings unique challenges when dating.
I've been divorced since I was 36. I'm 64 now. I do no social media but UA-cam. I love the Bachelor shows but was totally disappointed when Gerry and Teresa announced their divorce. I always say I'm nobody's mommy, maid or finance manager. I'm blessed to be happy by myself and I travel all over the world singing with symphonies and have an agent at Carnegie Hall. I can sing there whenever I want!
Jonathon I agree! They need you on the show as an advisor!! It would be a very good addition to have a dating coach helping them through the process and air those talks. Hmmm I may just write them and suggest this. 😃
I completely agree that grown-up conversations are invaluable in midlife in order to develop a relationship to go the distance. I love your passion and wisdom and am aiming to follow it. And yes, reading "8 Dates" and "What The Heck is Self Love Anyway" should be required reading for everyone before entering pursuing a relationship. 💛
Jonathan I filled out the questionnaire for the bachelorette it took me three hours. They asked a lot of questions, but none of the stuff that you talk about on your show was ever asked.
I thought the women acted competitively. Also, at the end of the day money talks. While I don't believe Gerry married her for her money, money may have been an issue for the divorce.
🎉 I think you would be an excellent Coach for this Show, and it would be excellent if they have you part of that Journey from the moment they start interviewing thru the entire show!
Do not believe the break up was about the move. They are two grow adults married many years, met each others families. If most women met a man in another state and moved to their home, there is no way after three months the break up was because of the move.
@@elipotter369 I don’t believe they ever went house hunting. How sad they feel they have to lie. They didn’t even go on a honeymoon and never lived together. What a scam, I’m not surprised by this. I hate how this show portrayed older women as desperate. Most really aren’t.
The reality is very simple: As long as stupid women have sex with men without getting a commitment from them first and as long as they treat their situationship-men like husbands - nothing is gonna change. Why would a man buy the whole cow if there are tons of cows available who give their milk away free of charge.

Yes this was all BS! It’s truly unfortunate. It is much deeper than not agreeing on where to relocate. Shame on you ABC for making mockery of the commitment of marriage. 🤦🏻♀️🙄
Theresa had a lot to lose financially by marrying Gerry. Her husband had a much better consistent income than Gerry. Social Security is based on an average of the last few years of earning, and as a widowed spouse Theresa was eligible for 100% of her former spouse's benefits. After marriage to Gerry, Theresa would have two choices: her SS or half of Gerry's. With Gerry's erratic employment, variety of jobs, and the fact that his burger joint was sold when his daughters were very young. Toni was most likely the major wage earner. Once Theresa learned the truth of Gerry's financial/job history and his actual dating history after the passing of his wife, I feel her walls came up to protect herself. She would currently be able to earn as much as she can and still receive all of her husband's SS check. That is not a bad deal!
Hi Jonathan, my opinion is ABC didn't need to put in the questionnaire the willingness to move question. That should have been a front and forward conversation between all the ladies and Gary. When you are out in the dating world, the first conversations should be about the deal breakers. This will avoid losing your time and the other persons. These are 2 people in their 70's how was that not a discussion it's beyond me. Too much smooching and no real talk 🤦♀️. Honestly, I don't believe it was because of the living arrangements, and most likely, we will never know. We are old enough and lived enough to not see the red flags. I was watching and was seeing the ladies all in love in 2 days and fighting for someone they didn't even know. I wish you a wonderful life and all the blessings life can gift you . Maybe in our next life you and I will meet but for sure we will be talking about our deal breakers on our first date 😂🌟✨️🥂💫💖
Um, mid-life? It's the "Golden Bachelor" because they're in their golden years -- and somewhat older than the Golden Girls. Unless a new medication extends lifespans to 140 years, this isn't midlife. This won't hurt the Bachelor franchise. The older players were golden for what's otherwise mostly a worn-out series.
IMO nothing you said about your past is a reason to not put you in the show, but your current "plant based therapies" could be a deal breaker? Though I don’t know if all these plants are legal over there, it isn't a good look.

😂😂👍🏻
No Joan, Leslie would be my choice.
This is the stupidst thing ever and a not so nice feeling for hopeful seniors. Just very disappointing show. All fake it was just a show.
You could tell the chemistry was off between these 2, it was obvious to anyone watching
Maybe
Um, mid-life? It's the "Golden Bachelor" because they're in their golden years -- and somewhat older than the Golden Girls. Unless a new medication extends lifespans to 140 years, this isn't midlife. This won't hurt the Bachelor franchise. The older players were golden for what's otherwise mostly a worn-out series.
I view as early, mid and late...
He should have picked Leslie 😮
He should have been with the other one
IMO nothing you said about your past is a reason to not put you in the show, but your current "plant based therapies" could be a deal breaker? Though I don’t know if all these plants are legal over there, it isn't a good look.
Gerry lied!! You can’t over lying about everything in your life!!!! Which he did but was doomed
Yes
@@JonathonAslayMaybe you’re a lil jelly … 🥰
