Thanks for the good chuckle nice light hearted overview of a divorce in a bag, glad the two of you made it through safely ;-) We have just acquired a 2018 T3 Vario, well it was until I did one of my sewing adjustments to it (video coming up in a while) now fits on a pitch much better and maximises our space internal space as the walls are squarer, I wanted the vario as I added a zip between the main and canopy sections as I wanted to be able to separate them for club site and larger CL type pitches and be able to use the awning as a tent!!! Your 2019 T2 looks great - perfect little space for longer stays and to keep the rain off. Two things I've found with ours is to arrange the outer "canvas" on the ground sheet (I notice you had quite a lot on the grass when rolling up) so that when you fold/roll up no outer fabric need touch the ground and if you fold in from the opposite end to the valves it helps to clear the air (I also tend to walk over my tubes towards the valves (with socks on) to expel any last pockets of trapped air rather than using the deflate on the pump) and you can fold clean side to clean, again to keep mud, etc. restricted to the underside on these very pale awnings. I also found that our pump tube had a habit of exploding off the end of the connector attached to the valve so I make sure they are tightly connected when I move from tube to tube otherwise the shock of air suddenly hissing out is rather loud!
Thanks, yes. I normally put a separate ground sheet down and work on that. I also normally walk the air out of the tubes too. Hopefully a better demo coming up soon, when it's not so perishingly cold! Thanks for watching and thanks for your comments.
I find it both fascinating & entertaining watching you guys doing candid vlogs especially awnings much better than the cinamatic like production attemps elsewhwere.Great 👍
Thanks for the recommendation Bob, just been and brought one of these little beauties. Just been testing it out on the drive. Can’t wait to try it out on our first trip to Hawes 😀
Just bought one today Cheers for the demonstration I'll let you know how we get on Won't be anytime soon right enough Weather's a bit wild here in Scotland just now 😉 Won't be a
Hi Bob, when putting the awning away have you tried putting the bag on the awning and then turning the whole thing over, it seems to be much easier than trying to stuff the awning into the flat bag (hope that makes sense). I find it much easier to put away like that.
Thanks. Yes the shed could do with something. Trouble is everything I try doesn't seem to cover it and it's in the full sun, or it gets really wet. Almost given up on it now. Only 4 years old too!
Hate to tell you this but, you left the pump out 😊. Great video again but, it did look like hard work. I'll stick with my very quick pop up Quest. Looking forward to Harrogate 👍.
Another great video both. But the effort and time required for a lazy motorhomer like myself has put me off purchasing one. You both seemed please with it which is brilliant, well done. All the best.
We’ve got a Vango drive away airbeam. Instead of attaching it to the awning rail we extend the actual awning out over the awning about a metre. This creates a shelter and don’t have to mess about lining up when you get back. We tried this method after a really stormy night - the noise of the awning attached kept us awake.
Hi bob and Jenny nice awning very quick to put up as I had on for my caravan they quite good in the wind aswell they don't flap about I think u will b please with it when u try it out on one of your trips .kev
Love the out takes! We are looking for a drive away awning about the size of the one you have purchased. Are you able to say how long it took to erect the awning and how long to pack away?
Great vlog. Would be interested in your views on air awnings. we recently changed our caravan awning from an air to a poll as I found it just as easy to put up and because of the lack of air polls in side, it feels bigger. First time out of the bag, it took about 40mins to erect, i'm sure that time will drop after a few more goes.
Interesting video Bob, you already have 2 awnings, do you really think you’re going to use this one or will it join the others in your garage. Did you take a look at the Quest gazebo? The Quest gazebo takes about 1 minute to erect, is very light and easy to put up and doesn't take much space when fully packed.
No I didn't look at Gazebos as we want something that attaches to the motorhome. Very happy with this one, a big improvement on the old one, which is over six years old and will be going down the council recycling facility soon.
Thanks for the reply Bob. Where are you going to store this new awning in your van. It seems very bulky when in its storage bag. Why not put your old one on Gumtree rather than dump it. Someone might want it (not me though).
@@ageingandrew1199 I might try eBay to sell it first, but I can't see anyone wanting a six year old. The new awning is already safely tucked under the bed in the Motorhome.
Right bob x jenny.....turn that shed into a toilet block ,I know where you can get some cheap blue formica 😉 Put a few EHU posts in ,I recon you got yourselves a nice little overnight stop site their 😄 Oh...and the drive away wasn't bad either lol.👍💟
The additional weight and size makes me think it wouldn’t be worth all the stress I have gone down the awning route a couple of times but they have all ended up on eBay and lost quite a lot of cash as a result.I can see the reason why you might add one to a caravan but it defeats the object of motorhoming to me.If we wake up and decide to move I don’t to start taking down an awning and packing it into a bag which somehow never seems big enough.....especially when the wind has picked up.Only my opinion of course but awnings are just too much hassle.
A fair point and I was thinking along similar lines until recently, but when we are on site for more than a couple of nights I miss being able to leave chairs and tables out, having the extra space and the shelter from the wind and rain.
Dude - that looks tiring : / ........ Say - isn't there ones that automatically inflate - deflate ???? ........ Well - it is good exercise : ) ....... Maybe not for your back : / ..... Peace on earth : ) ........
It took about 1 hour 20 minutes to put up and take down. Hopefully that will improve on site.
Be quicker on site Bob if your cameraman helps😅
@@stewartbarnett3857 Therein lies the dilemma. Do I get it filmed or put it up quicker?
Bob Earnshaw put camera on tripod
Or I’ll film at Harrogate lol

The new versions look even better.

Nice little awning 👍🏻 much better than some of the marquees you see on site

Thanks Mark,. The pump doesn't go in the bag. Yes I enjoyed Harrogate last year.
Another great video both. But the effort and time required for a lazy motorhomer like myself has put me off purchasing one. You both seemed please with it which is brilliant, well done. All the best.
Great video thank you. is it possible to inflate and deflate with a plug in pump connected to ehu?
Good question, it is, but there really is no need to use a powered pump. The pump is double action and inflates the awning in less than a minute.

Think I said in the video description, took about 1 hour 20 minutes to put up and take down, but I was learning it.
These awnings take about 10 mins to erect once you know how, My wife walks the dogs and I do the awning works a treat!
Is it called driveway because you can detach it from the vehicle and pop out of the site?
Yes, because you can detach it from the Motorhome and drive away, hence driveaway awning.
So how does it slide out of the channel or does it not use that system?@@BobEarnshawMoHo
@@SCCFORUM I will cover that in a future video, but if you look around 24 mins in on this video, ua-cam.com/video/OAkzA23lhjk/v-deo.html
We bought a vango Cruz high last year. Used it as once but found it too much trouble, so it sits in its bag in the summerhouse!

I think it will get quicker to put up with time. Think I was put off poles because of the Safari Room.

Perhaps you need to have a word with Ageing Andrew. He has a Quest Gazebo. See the comments on here.
You can get a electronic inflation pump
It's not needed, the double action pumps it up very quickly.
Hmm it'take a bit longer to put up.. I prefer my gazebo

What, our "divorce in a bag' - No problem. The privacy room was that!

I need the exercise! At least this one is a lot quicker to inflate.
