If you link the two paths and place the amps in the second row you get more CPU room for heavier amp models! It also helps forcing the signal to mono from the beginning!
Have you tried the Variax by chance? Opens up a lot of possibility to implement the same thing but the guitar handles the processing, so all dsp is still fully available within Helix. Plus, with the VDI cable you can have Helix control the Variax for preset specific or snapshot specific switching. I love mine!
I do! A JTV-59, and it's one of the main guitars I use in the studio when I need to double/triple track. A great live tool as well when I had a Variax 700/PODX3 Live combo and I was in a Goo Goo Dolls cover band (no need to bring out 5 guitars for 5 different tunings).

Thank you for the kind words! I was in a DT cover band, but after severely injuring my wrists, I had to rebuild my technique and have yet to recover my peak shred speed (I suspect I never will). I miss the shred days sometimes!

Yes if it’s the Helix, indeed I will put the amp and cab in Path 2.
