Love your tutorials, you explain everything so well and provide a great description of the pedals and how you would use them. I would really like to see a video of you doing some rhythm electric presets for worship though!
Hi Justin, love the tutorial, I learned a lot!! 3 years now of playing in our worship band and I feel I'm just now learning my way around the PodGo. Question for you: For the swell/reverb snapshot, how do you setup so the attack is "hidden"? In your video, there's no obvious audible picking, but when I attempted to copy the setting you had, each string attack is very clear. I obviously missed something and would of course prefer to have a more ambient sound, so any tips? Playing a PRS SE if that helps at all.
Hi Joey, thanks! For the string attack to be hidden you need the mix to be very high, almost 100% mix. You’re referring to the Jon Carolino style of chicken picking but only hearing the reverb bloom in, right? I don’t play my reverb that way so my presets have milder mix settings.
@@AllAboutWorshipGuitar I don't know about Carolino or chicken picking, but I'll look it up now! :-) What I'm really after is a way to provide ambient swells without having to feather it in and out using the volume pedal (which is what I do now as a rank amateur).
@@AllAboutWorshipGuitar To be clear, I'm fine using the pedal. I did just find Jon Carolino and a nice tutorial he did around his swell technique (that you mentioned in your "Ultimate Swell Tone" video that I just found and watched too). I should have known you would already have a video like that one already. Thanks!
James 5:17 Elijah was a human being, even as we are. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. 18 Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops…a BigSky (I’m kidding) Thank you for the kind words! I do strive to be informative
@allaboutworshipguitar. Can you take some popular examples of worships songs one might play in church and then show you you listen and dial in a tone either starting g from a preset or from one of your patches?
Hi, thanks for the kind words! Unfortunately the POD Go doesn’t have the DSP for the Feedbacker or the Poly Sustain which are in the Helix and HX Stomp. It does have the 3 Note Generator which can produce pad-like sustained notes but there’s a learning curve to using it naturally in a live setting. I myself haven’t played with it enough to definitively put out a workable preset. Maybe that will be my next challenge!
Great Video, Justin. I have been Pod Go'ing since it came out but next month I will step up to the Stomp XL. Do you have the same type of content for that device? My Pod Go will become my backup board and the Stomp XL will become my main board.
Thanks for the kind words! I indeed have a similar preset build for the Stomp, which will mostly correlate to the Stomp XL except for the control scheme. Welcome to the wonderful world of Helix! It’s a deeper rabbit hole than the POD Go in terms of tweaking. ua-cam.com/video/dwZ9GSriSsA/v-deo.html
I recently subscribe to your channel. I'm also a church guitarist, this video is really helpful thanks to you. But the thing is i'm currently using Nux MG30. Can you also make a decent worship tone just like how you did in this video using this multieffects? Looking forward to your response. Thank you and God Bless 🙏🏼
Hi Kevin, thanks for watching! The Nux MG30 looks and sounds incredible for its price point, but unfortunately I don't have that unit. UA-cam search for "Nux MG30 Worship" yields some cool results though!
@allaboutworshipguitar. Also I’m new to pod go. Just bought one used. Did the software update you suggested in other video. Now on pod go edit 2.0 firmware 2.01. I noticed that the silverbell cab parameters are different than yours. They have a mic position parameter about how far left and right from center the mic is placed where distance is how far away. They also have an angle param about mic tilt. Also they don’t have an early reflections param. Any suggestions on how to think of these?
Congrats! You have an updated POD Go, this video was released before the new firmware came out. With the ability to freely move the mic, early reflections became unnecessary. I have other videos where I demo how I set up the new cab, which I’ll link below:
How much gain are you playing with in the earlier part of the signal chain? Is your noise gate on? At high gain, the guitar noise can be quite loud, which can sound like it’s “whirling” due to the modulation in the delay/reverb effects.
@@AllAboutWorshipGuitar I figured out what is causing it. Its because the delay is set to dotted 1/8 note. If I set it to something else it doesn't do it. Do you think there is a way to keep the dotted 1/8 without the noise?
Great video! I play a HH guitar and this preset was pretty much dialed in! Only needed to adjust gain levels a tad. Definitely going to try to build this one out for a Sunday set soon!
When creating patch, how do you set your master volume knob? (The big knob close to the expresesion pedal). Do you set it in half or maxed out when dialing tone at home?
Hi! I set it halfway but it can vary based on your headphone impedance and your speakers. I use the channel volume on the amp model to boost or cut the overall volume until it sits at -12dB for cleans and -6dB for lead, using Audacity to check the levels.
@AllAboutWorshipGuitar I see I see, let's say you're using studio monitors when dialing tone at home, do you also set your speaker at halfway most of the time? Cause I'm having problems at live, where the saturation of tone si gone and it's broghter than dialing at home.
Oh I rarely get to use my speakers due to my family situation, so if they’re on, they’re usually very soft. Audible enough to casually play with, but nowhere near the volume needed for serious referencing. How loud are you hearing your tones loud? Everything sounds thin and lifeless when at low volume, which is a major problem in church venues.
@@AllAboutWorshipGuitar I see! But on my end, when I create tones at home, I like the sound so much that I'm hearing, whereas at live situation, the tone becomes different that I had to lower some highs and put some high cuts. By the way, do you dial your tone through phones out? Or main Left out? :)
Yes, it's a decent audio interface. Inputs 1/2 record the processed audio (whatever preset you're on), inputs 3/4 record the dry, unprocessed audio for reamping purposes.
Hi! You're right, I hadn't uploaded the preset into the free pack! Thanks for flagging this. I've just uploaded it, please refresh the folder link. Sorry!
Hi! Sorry it feels fast. I have a slower one for brand new POD Go users here that you may benefit more from: ua-cam.com/video/REWE6X5iSWk/v-deo.html Admittedly this video is more intermediate.

Glorious tones and explanation step by step.. Perfect for a Pod Go newbie like me. Many thanks.

thanks for this.

Great job Justin. You are encouragement to me in a great way! Very knowledgeable and very talented.
Thanks so much for the kind words, Pete! I really appreciate it!
Thank you so much for the great tips. There is so much to learn. I really appreciate your knowledge and playing, it’s such a blessing.

Thanks Justin! I created this patch today and it sounds great here, I can't wait to try it out tomorrow during service.

Great video as always, definitely going to use some of these tips when building some patches.

What's with all of the static noise. Is that normal?
I think you're hearing the single coil hum when I'm not touching the strings of the Tele.
How do you fix a "whirling" sound when switching delay/reverb on? I'm at a loss. Thanks!
