Simple; After carefully cushioning and supporting the machine upside down on floor, Using a crutch (rubber foot fit well against end cap) 2 grown men bearing down on crutch 180 degrees walking in a circular motion aroud machine gently getting cap to properly enter threads. axillary crutch. sorry no pics to document what we did.

Absolutely not possible doing this by hand if the spring is new and the correct length.
