so how can a gay man maintain a friendship with a straight man who he BEgins to have romantic feelings for. how does he respect the other guy's feelings, while at the Same Time Respect his Own. it is heartbreaking to love someoNe, who can never love you back. this is mostly a universal experience, but there is an added layer of complication for queer people. when queer people express their love to someone, they not only fear rejection, but they fear the other person’s reaction. will they be anGry, disgusted, aggressive etc.?

This was a good conversation starter, I've actually have dealt with this situation before. I've fallen for straight guy before, and even though it mostly never works out. No one should ever feel like they're not allowed to put their feelings out there.
Thank you for sharing Hugo! It is always comforting to hear when someone relates to your content. I think it is important to respect others feelings and boundaries. I also think it is important to ask ourselves questions like, "am I being kind to myself by pursuing this relationship." We need to show ourselves some love too and sometimes pursuing certain relationship with certain people, can be damaging to our heart.

Now as someone who chooses to pursue my [redacted] profession is that I have a lot of such talks being the Max. I believe what draws me to him is that I too once had this female friend Magda (Polish diminutive form of Magdalene), she always knew what to say. That's rare for us in the LGBTQIA+ community. Have that one straight roommate. Now I am male and I prefer men (not gay, out of topic) and comfortable with saying that. The understanding of such level is very important is that we are, I believe, commonly misunderstood and need reassurance to grow. Thing is, it's very rare that one might find the difficult balance between not pursuing the desires while keeping such relationship which is meaningful but that requires three things as I discovered with her: one-directional attraction, trust and a LOT of time. Thank you, Director, Actors and Crew, finding this series after re-discovering it and consistently watching parts as they were released after this much time made my day :) .
It's sad that I can relate to this because I'm going through it right now.... my biggest problem is we slept together not too long ago

@@looniebin21 he comes from a strong Christian or catholic, fully supportive of Trump family, that has verbally bashed gays, he's told me that they don't agree with it. However, he's told me in that same statement that he considers himself bi, but because of family he can't live as himself

Hahaha thank you!!! Yes, there are some people who don't care at all and I think thats incredible! I will say, however, that my character is probably a little more open to this than I am because I would never let Max come into the restroom with me in real life! lol

I'm going to disagree with Max when he says Daniel should not have "leaned in." Daniel didn't grope Chance or try to tear his clothes off, for crying out loud; he misinterpreted a gesture, and when he was asked to back off, he did. No wrong, great or small, was done.
I think Chance may be right in that a friendship may not be possible--for now. Daniel may need to take some time to get over this, and while that's happening Chance's presence will only be painful. And Daniel will get over it, the way we all do: cry, complain to friends, rely on pizza and ice cream, write a sad poem in his dream journal, etc.
Honestly there has to be more interesting stories about gay men than this old never ending obsession with straight men.

I’ve been in this situation with my ex-Best Friend, yes ex,,becoz we used to be best friend but not anymore after i confessed my feelings to him,,loosing him was the hardest thing in my life,,but that’s just reality, theres no way to fix this kind of things,,what you can do is just move on with your life, forget about him as much as you can, start new chapter,,and learned from your mistake,,finding other guy who truly loves you is one of several solution to fix your heart that was broken,,then continue your life with him without the shadow of your ex-BestFriend,,coz that is Reality,,

This whole scenario reminds me of something I learned very early on and heard in the last parts of the 20th century that goes like this:
..My theory is that the first six weeks is the information gathering stage. Now if you just shut up and listen… and of course nobody ever does; a man will tell you everything you need to know about him… The good, the bad and the ugly. But in twelve weeks… Honey, that's when you find out the really scary shit. Like they're drug addicts, or they're into heavy metal, or they're straight. That sort of thing.

This has happened to me recently. There's this nice and cool guy at work who gives me mixed signals about his sexuality where I don't know if he's gay, bi or completely straight. We hang out, go out with friends, text like normal friends and i feel extremely attracted to him. But I don't want to misunderstand and make things weird since he might just be into my best friend whose a girl. I feel stuck 😭

Why do you write about the Straight Roommate as much. Is there a goal to this constant theme?
I think Daniel is making these stories to show how deep relationships between gay/straight friends can go without being sexually intimate. I've been through it, when I came out of the closet I had several friendships with straight male friends change. Some of them felt the need to announce to me that they weren't into guys, but things never needed to change at all.
I too have had feelings for a straight friend. And although my story didn't end quite like Daniel's, the point remains the same... love is love. A gay and straight guy can totally be best friends 100%.

I know this is year old but - just leave Max's chest hair alone, unless we are going to see more of it (does he NEVER walk around in just his undies, FFS) and speaking of, why the hell did he not whip his shirt off when he was asking about the 'thing' on his chest? I have personally seen my straight male friends naked more times than my male gay friends, my straight friends always seem to be naked and they never rush to cover up, my gay friends are always dressed if only in shorts/boxers
