Thank you so much for this video. I had branches hanging over my second story roof and squirrels were jumping on to roof. I was about to hire a tree trimmer company as I was afraid of those limbs dropping onto my new roof. I bought a rope saw and was able to safely cut away those limbs. This saved me several hundred dollars.
I am still grinning that it was YOU who had the nice pictorial of actual usage right when I needed it! Going to share with the hubby and we can get right to working those branches. Thx for the video. I should say all all the videos!
Thank you! Our home owners insurance went up by 20%. So we switched companies.... the new company wouldn't insure our home until our branches were cut.... I'm going to buy one today... Thanks, you saved us a ton of money... We just didn't have money for a tree trimming serivce..
Nice to see a lady using the saw. I ordered one yesterday, but a lady neighbor discouraging me saying will take too much muscle power. I can't wait to use it. My neighbor's trees along the property line a nuisance. Happy if can do it safely and notvhave to pay tree cutters..
I know of a judge, in a small town in Tennessee, who was cutting tree branches with a ladder, fell off, and is now in a wheelchair permanently, from a broken back. My husband scared me half to death after hurricane Katrina. He was climbing way up in trees with a chainsaw! Thankfully, he didn't get hurt. Ten years later, his health isn't as good, and we hire out what we can't reach safely. I hate that his health is bad, but am thankful he isn't climbing trees anymore. This is a great idea for removing out of reach limbs, and I have one of those little saws. Just need to attach some line to it, and we might save a few bucks. Thanks for the video!
I saw one of those at Harbor Freight a year or so ago. Wish i had bought it when i saw it, because now the quit stocking it. But not is all lost, I have a chainsaw chain with one broken tooth in it so I replaced it. So now I will make my own from the old chain. Many videos show guys binding up the chain because they didn't use common sense and tried to muscle it through and didn't use gravity properly. Folks should use a chainsaw for a while before they use these, there are ways you cut so the chain doesn't lockup. 20ft in the air is not where you want to learn these lessons. You did a great job, now I will start building my own. Glad I watched all those videos on this. Didn't think to sharpen both sides of the teeth so it would cut both directions. 👍😎
This looks really easy to make with a chainsaw chain. I need this right now to limb down a tall 3 trunk locust that looks like it wants to fall on my house. I assume any chainsaw chain connected with a rope would do the job, besides the manual work involved. Much cheaper than a professional for sure, and I want to save as much of this beautiful tree with most of it's furns and shade beneath as possible.
I found one at Academy Sports in the Camping Section. I haven't gotten it yet and wondered what happens when the chain blade is upside down. Why does your
These are good saws, they have been around for 40 years that I know of, I made one of them back in the early 70ies, You can cut limbs, as high as you can toss the weight, And you can try a 1lb teardrop fishing weight, shot from a slingshot, Use Nylon string tied to your rope. good luck.
in my profile pic this tree just got hit by lighting and leaning on two other trees if it goes through it will hit my house. how can I cut it down to avoid damage. question should I cut it mid way up and let it collapse into a v shape? size 60' by 2' wide
I recommend you put some lard on the chain. The reason why is when the fat gets into the wood it will prevent it from getting stuck in the cut its making. If it does you will have a hard time getting it down.
Nice. I want to trim a branch off a tree beside my driveway, but it's at a point where I have to extend my ladder all the way ,so I might try your idea. ;)
I'm not sure of the brand but I bought it at Harbor Freight Tools. I know they sell them on their website and if you go to the store to buy one, it's not in the gardening tools area like you would assume, they are kept with the hand saws.
LOL...me too! I have a feeling a lot of husbands aren't too happy that we gals just learned that we don't need to have to hire a tree surgeon when high branches need trimming. I know I'm getting a a whole "ship-load" of excuses. This gal is DY NO MYTE!
Great video! Thanks for sharing the knowledge. Also I can relate. Everything works as planned until the day I want to show others! lol Also this is far better than a chainsaw and ladder = me breaking my neck!
I was saying to myself, - she's doing it the hard way, without handles!- Well, I just finished using mine. I came up one handle short. Probably got shuffled under the leaves. Your rope seems to be a round rope, mine came with a thin twisted nylon rope. Now I will need to fashion some handles.
LOL...you misunderstood my comment. HE was getting out of trimming the high branches because I was dumb enough to believe he could not do it from the ground. :)
You'd know the point of it if you were a non-millionaire homeowner with a yard full of trees in need of trimming. Our local tree surgeon thinks he's in the AMA.
That's a great tool, but you can't buy them here in Australia. You could rig one up from a real chainsaw blade I guess, but at the inflated prices for everything down under, I found it was better to get the job done with a cheap ass pole saw like this one: How to cut a tree branch without a ladder for $37: Bunnings Hortex Pole Saw Pruner Review Buying a real chainsaw blade would've easily cost the same down under. You Americans have it good with those large big box stores, and Amazon actually shipping things other than books to you!

Amazing I knew there was a more inexpensive way and thank goodness you did this video. You just saved my about $700.

Thank you I think you just saved me a heap of money getting a pro in to deal with some high branches which are beyond my pole saw.

That's because someone who sits behind a desk all day doesn't have any business on top of a ladder

Love the silence of the rope saw over the noisy chainsaw 😂
I think it's a great survival tool. It's light, small, can reach high and far and it does a great job too. The ropes could also come in handy.
I found one at Academy Sports in the Camping Section. I haven't gotten it yet and wondered what happens when the chain blade is upside down. Why does your

Yeah but they already got a wire that can do that it's called wire saw
Wonder if a anchored tension spring on one side rope would improve this...then get both hands on one side to saw
I have a rope chain saw. Great piece of equipment if you have tall trees. Never fails. Rope saw goes up... Tree limbs come down. Works fast too!
Never knew this existed, wow! Must get me one. Love the accent. Sounds like Tennessee.
Thank you.ill be trying mine out today😀😀😀😀😀😀😀
Nice video. Thanks for sharing. Looking for a rope chain now.

the chain cuts on both sides? How does it stay and not roll over.
It cuts only on one side and is jointed so that it only curves teeth side down.

Yeah I bought one years ago that came with a stick of some kind of grease for the chain. After that ran out I used lard. It works well.
Thank you, I've been looking for one of those, I'm going to harbor freight today!
Thanks, I was wishing somebody invented a laser to cut branches from below lol but this will do the job
Great video! Thanks for sharing. I need one of those rope saws.
The rope saw was in a kit used during the wars by air borne troopers, if the parachute's landed in a tree they could cut themselves out.
Great video thanks. I am going to use this as I have some tall limbs I can't get too.
nice vid. thanks for sharing. I just bought one on ebay after watching this.
Thank you for the help. Appreciate the tip on undercutting...smart :)
what prevents it from rolling over onto its flat side instead of cutting on one of the two edges ?
It is jointed so that it only bends in one direction.
Amazing Idea! Thanks for sharing this video and for your accent as well lol
How many pots of beans were you able to cook with that firewood?
So please tell me, What is the name of the rope saw so I ca buy one....
great explanation and demonstration. I was wondering about these. thank you!
Awesome, the tool and you too.
Nice. I want to trim a branch off a tree beside my driveway, but it's at a point where I have to extend my ladder all the way ,so I might try your idea. ;)
Liked your video, I bought my saw today, will try it out tomorrow. Thank you.
what would you say to is max size ranch you can cut using this kind of saw
How do these compare to those commando wire saws?
You are a very useful wife!!
very useful video. What brand is that and any idea where to get one?
Thanks.
Did she say " I have enough wood for a couple pots of beans " ?
Nice video demonstrations but that branch was hardly "high up" in the tree. haha :)
It does help. You are always helpful. Thank you ma'am.
Amazing. Never knew such a tool existed.
Really appreciate for posting video.
Cool,I was wondering if ya could get a good under cut like that ,now I know . Thanks
On my way to purchase one, thanks for the video
Gotta get one. Neighbors limbs are growng over my house. Quick fix. Thanks
I'm not sure of the brand but I bought it at Harbor Freight Tools. I know they sell them on their website and if you go to the store to buy one, it's not in the gardening tools area like you would assume, they are kept with the hand saws.
Pine is easy soft to cut, How's it do on hardwoods?
Not very good. Mine gets stuck a lot.
Great video, now does anyone have an idea how to get the chain on a branch that 40 feet up?
What and where are these ?? Links ? name ??
I'm so getting one of these.
great video and nice tip so did you record this with phone camera??
Great demo!
I read that it hard to get the teeth face the branch. You say you don'
t find this to be true ?
That isn’t an issue. My biggest problem has been splitting just like she had
Nice job!!!
can we buy that here in Europe??
Good video, thanks ! :-)

Thank you for this video.
Please help me to find it. I can't find it anywhere.
Search Amazon for "rope saw". Apparently Harbor Freight doesn't sell these anymore.
God bless you and thank you!
I need to talk to a professional tree cutter. We need to cut down a tree in the back yard and we have 2 fences and a shed to worry about.
Damn that cuts mad quickly
@imstillworkin yes it does make perfect sense. I will have to get one soon.
I was saying to myself, - she's doing it the hard way, without handles!-
Well, I just finished using mine. I came up one handle short. Probably got shuffled under the leaves. Your rope seems to be a round rope, mine came with a thin twisted nylon rope. Now I will need to fashion some handles.
I think this is awesome!!!
My landscaper is asking 600$ for a tree trimming. I m gonna try this out
very good
Ya la vî es vien Buena Gracias, ke tengas un buen dîa
Good job
I always worry about the chain getting bound up by the limb collapsing.
You can buy it from Harbor Freight on the internet.
I paid $12.71 plus shipping.
Customer service will tell you about shipping to europe
where can you buy those?
I got mine on Amazon.
great tutorial =)
I love you.
I love this, I can't climb a tree, so.
Thanks!!
LOL...you misunderstood my comment. HE was getting out of trimming the high branches because I was dumb enough to believe he could not do it from the ground. :)
What is the point of this
The reason it will fall off onto someone on a ladder is probably because they're standing right under it
Do you need to dip the chain in bar & chain oil or is that just for chainsaws?
No, it cuts fine as is.
imstillworkin great, thanks for the video!
Be carufull with your long hair please when you working with chainsaw.
one shot enough by AXE!!!
genious
A pole saw doesn't reach more than 15 feet up. This one goes 30 feet!
You'd know the point of it if you were a non-millionaire homeowner with a yard full of trees in need of trimming. Our local tree surgeon thinks he's in the AMA.
You be careful chainsawing with training shoes and bare legs now
Omg You need to tie up your long hair back. It may get caught and tangled in the power chain saw.
That's a great tool, but you can't buy them here in Australia. Aww what, Is that they're illegal or we just don't have any at all. Why did I have to be born in Australia, fuck sake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gadgetmiser lol fuck that. The pole saw won't reach 25 foot tho will it?
Damn we aint got no random everyday gun violence neither, sheeeet!
They're on ebay.
Tie your long hair for personal safety.
Let’s talk more objective
Sucks
Great demo!
