Yo!!! Can I suggest that you play Xenonauts with X-Division expansion? It's a pretty damn big expansion that weights as much as game itself and it's actually pretty hard, so I think you should like it

Has the size of the maps been modded in TWOTS ? I remember hating their gigantic size back in the days and it does not seem so bad here.
Being zoomed out helps a lot
Real question is why did the only people who can save you from the aliens have to do extra "negotiations" for modern weapons, like just hand em over?
That's still better than just not having rifles ever, even for land operations.

this is a neat playthrough. interesting mod.
I was wondering how cool this mod would really be, how much would change? God it's so good. It's really stark since you're on legitimately the worst fucking part of an admittedly poorly-balanced and designed, if cool, game. Because once some of the balance issues are addressed (you have fucking guns that work, big one), you have new enemies to fight, the chaos of a pitched battle, even the dreaded Cruise Ship Terror Mission becomes a level you actually /want/ to play. It's like, ironically, getting above water and taking a deep breath of actual air.
