I believe Pittsburgh is due for a huge change. The Defense can't stop the passing game for the most part for years now. Our receivers can't get open, and our running game is marginal to say the best because the offensive line can't create opens for the RB for years. We need to go back to the Steel Curtain of the past.
@@carlosinda3553 After many years of doing less with more. While I agree the team didn't crash and burn last year, they took advantage of a mediocre schedule to finish 8-8 while never beating a single team that qualified for the playoffs. Since 2011 they have won a whopping 3 playoff games (Bengal meltdown, Dolphins with a backup QB, and barely squeaked past a KC team led by Alex Smith). Tomlin is a good but not great coach. He is terrible at challenges and too often loses to inferior teams which greatly impacts where they are seeded in the playoffs. All of this despite having a HOF QB for his entire coaching career, arguably the best WR in football most of those seasons, a top RB in Bell, and a great offensive line. They had also spent a ridiculous amount of high picks on defense (every #1 pick from 2011-2019 except one was a defensive player. All that talent should have yielded better results. Anyone who still thinks Tomlin is a great coach or that the Steelers will ever make another Super Bowl as long as long as Tomlin is there should rewatch the 1st quarter of the wildcard game against the Browns. That was not only a far inferior Browns squad who got outscored on the year and barely beat the likes of the Eagles, Texans, and Jaguars, but also was minus their head coach and ravaged by COVID and couldn't even practice most of the week. A good head coach beats that Browns team by at least 10 points
@@andraethegiant1987 Cowher learned from his mistakes, and unleashed Ben in the ‘05 playoffs. Tomlin doesn’t have the ability to admit mistakes. He never even makes in game adjustments. If they lose, it was an execution problem by the players. You have to actually watch these games, and listen to Tomlin’s bogus excuses afterwards, to understand how terrible he is. Cowher played down, so he could use his best stuff in the most important games. That bit him quite a few times, but it was a strategy. This is not a strategy failure for Tomlin, he doesn’t understand the game as much as you would believe by listening to him. He’s just bad. You can look in awe at his record all you want, that is due to the support system around him, as the guy in the video said.
Honestly this season just proves that we need a new face on the coaching staff. I'm tired of such a talented team being wasted because we play down to every bad team we play. 7-2-1 to not making the playoffs is unacceptable
How many can compare to Knolls accomplishments. You throw the word talented out there, but what makes you think the Steelers have any more talent than the other top tier teams out there. With Tomlins success they haven't received high picks.
You're basically saying that Tomlin has had nothing to do with the success of this team during his tenure. Nothing to do with the staff, personnel decisions, scheme, nothing. So how can you determine when the head coach is in some degree responsible for that success and when they're not. His defense in Minnesota was ranked 8th in total defense. Up from 12th. Their defense dropped to 20th in total defense when he left. His run defense was ranked #1, up from 19th. I suppose that had nothing to do with his coaching either.
Yea....but with No Big Ben....he is going to drop every year he stays in the league. It is going to get far worse before it gets better in Pittsburgh. You know this
Yeah with Bill Cowherd team. You forget about that. When the guys left in 2014 . He couldn't make it to another playoffs and AFC Championship with his own team and own coaching crew
Terry, god bless him, wanted a coach he could go get a hug from. Read anything in his bio's. Poor Terry sang, "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry." 'I'm just a country kid who could use a pat on the back..' Terry Bradshaw said over and over, Chuck Noll was a hard nosed leader who lived the lavish life and Terry never felt like he fit in. Sounds like Terry Bradshaw would've sincerely benefitted and enjoyed the coaching style of Mike Tomlin.
Just seeing this today, and how ironic is it that 7 years later Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game since this was recorded? And yet people are STILL angry with Bradshaw over his comments. And like Cris Carter said in this clip "they're only a player or two away" and even today they're still saying that LOL!
If Tomlin were white, he would have been in the unemployment line years ago. He won a Super Bowl in his second year, with Cowherd's team and that's it. As for that BS of "He's never had a losing season", give me a break, the Steelers play in the weakest division in football. Bradshaw is spot-on
Well Tomlin has passed coach Cowher on both the all time winningest Steelers coaches list and the all time winningest NFL winningest head coaches list. Not bad for a quote unquote Cheerleader.
Cowher did it with less talent. As soon as he got a franchise QB he went 15-1, then Super Bowl champs. Tomlin had a HOF franchise qb his entire time in Pittsburgh. You can’t compare the records at face value.
coming from a dallas fan i love watching pits cause they play hard, win, and make watching games fun. i always cheer for the steelers other than when they play against cowboys. mr. tomlin people are gonna talk but keep on doing what your doing GOD bless and no one can take away those 2 superbowls you help the steelers organization get to.
Over 100 wins, no losing seasons, a super bowl. He's second only to belichick among active coaches. Maybe 3rd behind Andy Reid but that's it. Steelers fans were nuts to ever want this guy fired
He inherited a stacked team with a HOF level QB that had already won a Super Bowl. I'm not saying he's not above average but his playoff track record is fairly awful considering some of the teams he had. To lose to Blake Bortles, Tim Tebow, Baker Mayfield, and David Garrard in playoff games is not a great look. The Steelers front office is also among the best in the league consistently finding gems, not sure how much of that is on him or the GM and other members of the front office. We will really see in the coming years how good he actually is without a franchise QB (Pickett sucks). To me he is much closer to a Mike McCarthy or Marty Schottenheimer level coach than a BB, Reid, or even Pete Carrol. I think too often his teams are unprepared for big games and that 4th and 1 punt he had in the browns playoff loss a couple years ago was a fireable offense. Also the Steelers have the benefit of some of the biggest ref interference I've seen, that game a couple years ago against the Colts was a flat out rig job along with the Roethlisberger non fumble td call against Miami years ago.
Why is this even coming up. The steelers are relevant almost every year especially without having what they normally have on defense and never having a great corner.
i been preaching this for years . He is pedestrian as a coach . Great rah rah guy and his players love him . But let`s be real - he has done so little with so much since the Tebow debacle . The record vs sub .500 teams can not be ignored . The lack of killer/assassin like instinct pains me as a fan ( and the Patriots just ooooze it ) . Steelers have better RBs,WRs,Oline than Patriots yet they were 4-5 at one point this year . HE took over a Super Bowl ready roster and all those guys are gone now except Ben and Harrison .
Goal please explain about his record vs sub .500 teams. He would not have the 15th highest winning precentage of any coach with more than 50 vicotries and the 7th highest among coaches with 100 victories. His winning presentage is higher than that of Tom Landry, Chuck Knoll, Bill Walsh, Curly Lambeau and Joe Gibbs.
It wasn't just Bradshaw saying it, Whitlock agreed with him! I agree with them. Failed strategy in games, failed draft picks, failed trades, and a failing playoff record all add up to not a great coach. I'll say is better than some but he's dispensable. I've been a Steeler fan since I was 9 or 10 and watched them rise to the highest of heights and we seem stuck in above average. That folks isn't what a competitive, hungry, leader aspires too.
Food for thought: Mike Tomlin has won as many super bowls as Cowher. He's also been to as many. This has all been done in six LESS seasons, against Tom Brady AND Peyton Manning for the entirety of that time.
Terry Bradshaw is hack. Anyone remember the days of him also knows that whenever Swann or Stallworth was out he played terrible and no he wasn't accurate either.
Last time I checked he was a mediocre quarterback who played on a loaded team. Go check his numbers and compare them to other QBs from his era. Now compare Tomlin's record to other coaches in his time. Tomlin looks a lot better standing next to his peers than Bradshow does his. 51% completion percentage. Only 2 more touchdowns than interceptions. He threw more touchdowns than interceptions 5 times in his career. Roger Staubach, Fran Tarkenton, Ken Stabler, Ken Anderson all were better quarterbacks. Bradshaw was just lucky enough to be on a team loaded with hall of famers. You put him in New Orleans and he isn't even Archie Manning. So the fact that someone as mediocre as him who was the beneficiary of playing for the Pittsburgh franchise has the nerve to call out someone who is benefiting from coaching the Pittsburgh franchise is a laughable joke.
AlphaDwg true, when I saw Plaxico Burris and H. Ward pass Lynn Swan and Stallworth for most receiving yards by a duo in franchise history I realized that Bradshaw's passing wasn't that potent at all. Cause the Steelers didn't have a top rank passing game when the duo (Burris/Ward) passed that mark. It was dense and a rushing attack that got those 4 rings. You RARELY see old NFL highlights of the Steelers passing game.... unless it's that one mistake caught by Franco Harris.
cholli4141 Bradshaw threw the clutch passes - in the big games - when the games were on the line. Check his Super Bowl numbers. He stepped up, when he needed to - and more. Pittsburgh WAS always a run-based team back at that time. 4 wins, 0 losses, 2-time MVP. Tomlin walked into a team stacked with talent - thanks to Cowher. Since that time, the team has gradually declined.
Be clear the Steelers was my first football team- given to me by my father, in fact he took me to a SuperBowl when I was like 5 (Rams v Steelers) so before I moved on to my Raiders (I still love and respect the Steelers) I followed every player... There has NEVER been (and never will be again) a QB surrounded by more "Hall of Famers" (its between 8 or 11 players!) on both sides of the ball than Terry Bradshaw! Period! End of story! Besides the impacting and profound fact that players couldn't move (free agency) as they can today (which made the Steelers great!)... Terry Bradshaw was the least spectacular on the squad... he had Franco, Swann, Rocky, Webster and, Stallworth as offensive weapons (trust me I'm leaving out some great role players...) and when he threw one of his many interceptions he had a DEFENSE- they called them the "Steel Curtain!" that could stop you, hurt you and intimidate you at every level from the Dline to the backers to the safetys to the corners... C'mon Man! Lets be clear, Terry B wins and credit for superbowls are the privileges of the position (QB) and NOT the direct results of his prowess or performance. Terry should be a bit more humble because like playing QB, NFL coaching aint no joke and he should show some humility😑 because the only reason he's empowered to make such a "side of his neck" comment like that is because he stands on the shoulders of the most prolific collection of HOF ballers from one team during one Era EVER! Cris Carter went easy on him...😑
John Daniels without him vs. who? Other QB's could have been just as successful with that. The TEAM was absolutely dominant at multiple positions. Let me be clear, I love TB. However, he's an old man now, and he should have a little humility in some of the statements he's made. That's all I'm saying. Be well.
I'm a Bengals fan and Tomlin's a good coach. He's never seen a losing season. I respect him, the players, and the whole organization. They have a great eye for talent
He rode cowers team to the super bowl twice and he hasn’t done anything in terms of playoff games in the last decade. I like the guy and think he’s a decent coach but not a great coach…
It baffles me when people talk about him not having a losing season. Yeah when u have a franchise HOF QB and a stacked Sb talented roster every year u better not have a losing season. He’s underachieved big time...he won a SB and went to another with Chowers built team. After that team split up what has he done? Won what like 2 playoff games in the past 12 years? Especially with the team he had. Steelers should of hired Bruce Arians or whizzenhunt. Chower had more success with QB’s like Neil O’Donald, Mike Tomsac, Kordell Stewart, Tommy Maddox than Tomlin who had Big Ben and SB talented roster up until last year.
Tomlin is always out coached even when he wins. He's won only one playoff game in 5 yrs with a top 3 quality quarterback ,and many other weapons. Haven't seen one game that I can say he out coached the other guy.
@@Berkmugga When you win 140 plus games and throw for more touchdowns and yards than John Elway you can't be overrated. That sounds Alot like hate from you.
I’ve never thought he was a Good coach. He inherited a good team and since the GB Super Bowl, his teams have been mediocre at best. Good individual players that never could come together as a team and win championships.
Inconsistent in that they lose games they shouldn't to inferior teams. They play down to the competition, which is usually a sign that the coach isn't getting them focused. Tomlin is a players coach who doesn't run a tight ship and that has had consequences.
No for teams all the time lose to them that are seen as inferior. That is why they play the game. To see who will win. Let us look at his overall record during this time frame of rebuilding which Bradshaw picked to judge Tomlin by. 41-30, for a .563 winning percentage. I will take that anyday of the week plus twice on Sunday for when a team is rebuilding. In the last 4 season which Cowher has been talking about the Steelers were not as good on paper as you think, then you also have to take into account the loss of manpower. The production of the defense went down, they only had 35 sacks and until last season in that timeframe average a sack for every 50 passing attempt. They lost their pro-bowl starting center twice for the season in this time period. In 2011 their defense was slow old and overpay. They were not the offensive powerhouse people see them as today until midway through the 2014 season. 2015 Steelers, as Roethlisberger, Bell, Bryant, Beachum, Pouncey and Shaun Suisham all missed significant time ,or the entire season, due to injuries or suspensions. Going 10-6 with that is what great coaches do. Also the record against sub .500 team is misleading. They count playoff teams in that for at the time the team was 0-1 or 1-2. Would you count Miami as a sub .500 team this season. I know I would not, but Terry Bradshaw does. He kept the team at above .500 while having a major transition in DC, OC and players. They rebuilt the team with the pain of doing so. Changing the offensive coordinator took time to adjust. It was not just a promotion to keep the same system. It was a rehaul of the offense.
I think Mike Tomlin is a good coach, but not a great coach. I base that on the fact that his teams are usually prepared, but also seem to lack discipline. That's something I've noticed over the last few years, and it's somewhat alarming when it comes to big game situations. The fact that they nearly lost a fifth consecutive game vs. the Ravens (they pulled the Christmas Day game out by a yard) and usually have trouble against teams with better coaches (Belichick, Harbaugh, Reid, etc.) shows that Tomlin is a good coach, but one that does occasionally have a problem being outcoached by those better than him. But also, except for the fact that they have a future HOF QB in Big Ben, the best WR in the game in Antonio Brown, and Le'veon Bell, the Steelers are a team that doesn't have very much on either side of the ball, so in a way, the fact that they're still major players is a tribute to Tomlin's ability as a head coach. And stifling defense, usually a Steeler trademark, has been noticeably absent the past few seasons.
Thank you Terry B. Thank you, to express how the Tomlin Couching years have been for ten years and a huge list of very talented players in both sides of the ball had played for the team with impressive regular seasons. But as soon as the play offs start, it doesn’t matter if you won all the regular games or how many records the good players achieved if the result is the same bad game plans year after year give us a break Tomlin pleeease Don’t come back next season, because we know right now the result for the next season
I Agree, why they fire other Coaches not Tomlin? He stays, he is not all that. I can’t stand that Man. You have People Googoo all over him. Naw not this lady.
All time greats? No definitely not. But definitely a very good coach, I mean they’ve been one of the most winning teams in the last 10 years and with a super bowl win. Here’s definitely a top 5 coach in this last decade.
Any organization that has had only 3 coaches in 45+ years has been to 7 or 8 superbowls won 6 of them probably knows more than Terry Bradshaw and all of us. I'm just saying it's possible. 😉
When Bradshaw was hurt and after he retired, Noll and the steelers NEVER got to the SB. Once in the SB, Steelers are 4 and 0 with Bradshaw. End of story.
Justin Brown Cowher retired January 2007...The Steelers under Mike Tomlin won in 2009 a whole 3yrs after they beat the Seahawks so no they did not win with Bills team seeing as Football rosters change faster than any other sport and he got to another Superbowl where he lost 31-25 so he's more than capable of creating a Superbowl roster of his own

This aged just lovely…
This shows why terry is a hof’er s& Chris Carter isn’t on the air as much anymore. Keep drinking the Mike t kool aid. It’s been obvious for YEARS. There has NOT been one coach under tomlin to leave & get a good job somewhere else. No one from his “tree.” Great rah/rah guy when he has a disciplined team. Hid behind hof qb (& great talent drafted by the GM) to maintain his .500 record. So hard to watch as a true Steeler fan.
I agree with Terry
This is coming from a QB in 11 years had more ints than tds 6 times. Steelers defense won those superbowls
Kelvin black offense win games, defense wins championships. Bradshaw did his part
Not for nothing, but Bradshaw was Super Bowl MVP twice.
Still a gamer
apples to oranges..completely, completely different era...not even close. Defensive backs have it made now compared to the 70's and 80's. I disagree with Terry here because I do think that Tomilin is a good coach. I feel this was his best ever. He had to deal with a lot of egos. He held that team together. Terry to walk back of his comments too, saying that he might have been premature in saying that. Terry is one toughest, greatest quarterbacks ever. 14-4 in the playoffs including 4-0 in Super Bowls...
The Steelers were a running team , Bradshaw's Coach Chuck Noll was an offensive guard when he played in Cleveland . They ran the ball Bradshaw made some nice throws in his career . Defensive backs were more physical back then with receivers and guarded closer .
Lol the music stops when he says "at all" 😂😂😂
He's been to 3 SB in a conference with Brady and Manning his whole run in a tough division as well. You really can't ask more of the guy.
Pierre Conrad 2 SB
That's facts sadly and I'm black as well.
@Justin Brown,
Just because you are black and criticize him does not make what you said true. There are only 7 other coaches that won 100 games in their 1st 10 seasons and Tomlin just became the 8th one to do so. With 5 division titles, 2 SB appearances, a SB victory, and no losing season in his career, Tomlin's track record speaks for itself.

Terry was and is correct about Mike Tomlin, not a great coach, not a good coach, an average coach. period. The fact that his teams are successful at all is a tribute to the Steeler organization not to Mike Tomlin's coaching ability which is average at best.
I believe Pittsburgh is due for a huge change. The Defense can't stop the passing game for the most part for years now. Our receivers can't get open, and our running game is marginal to say the best because the offensive line can't create opens for the RB for years. We need to go back to the Steel Curtain of the past.
And what is Tomlins specialty(besides talking and giving excuses)? Defense... He gotta bounce! lol
Tomlin was never a smart coach he got this job purely on ethnicity. They didn't even hire the best black guy. I always thought Dungy was solid.
Mike tomlin takes the Pittsburgh Steelers to the playoffs again.
He is right.
So Tomlin is a cheerleader, but McCarthy is a great coach?? He makes no sense. Tomlin has never had a losing season.
Mike Tomlin last season showed he's a great coach. He did more with less.
Cowher played down, so he could use his best stuff in the most important games. That bit him quite a few times, but it was a strategy. Mike Tomlin, number 13 of all time in winning percentage among coaches with 10 years or more.
And what has he done the last 3 playoff games 40+ points on defense
Yea....but with No Big Ben....he is going to drop every year he stays in the league. It is going to get far worse before it gets better in Pittsburgh. You know this
Yeah with Bill Cowherd team. You forget about that. When the guys left in 2014 . He couldn't make it to another playoffs and AFC Championship with his own team and own coaching crew

Read anything in his bio's.
Poor Terry sang, "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry."
'I'm just a country kid who could use a pat on the back..'
Terry Bradshaw said over and over, Chuck Noll was a hard nosed leader who lived the lavish life and Terry never felt like he fit in. Sounds like Terry Bradshaw would've sincerely benefitted and enjoyed the coaching style of Mike Tomlin.
Wow...Jason you sold your soul!!!!
They've been spending all the money on defense of late, and look worse than the end of the Chuck Knoll era.
This was recorded in December 2016. Tomlin had his most recent playoff win a month later. He’s 2-5 in the playoffs since this was recorded.
No playoff wins tho
Cowher did it with less talent. As soon as he got a franchise QB he went 15-1, then Super Bowl champs. Tomlin had a HOF franchise qb his entire time in Pittsburgh. You can’t compare the records at face value.

*1 superbowl....
i stand corrected 1 superbowl win thank you
Over 100 wins, no losing seasons, a super bowl.
This aged well
Why is this even coming up.
Hey buddy i wonder if you still have that same opponion about the steelers
ari alo He probably does.
Whydoesithavetobe Well he is still the youngest Coach to ever win a Superbowl lol
Tomlin is far more coherent than Bradshaw ever has been...
You wish you had a quaterback like Bradshaw. He actually called his OWN plays....duh.
Really?? He's produced one super bowl since 2011 what has done since then?? And I've been a Steelers fan since 75 just saying!!
Food for thought:
Mike Tomlin has won as many super bowls as Cowher. He's also been to as many.
This has all been done in six LESS seasons, against Tom Brady AND Peyton Manning for the entirety of that time.
Yeah, Cowher had some real bums in at qb and Ben had just came along.
Take Ben out of the picture- and Tomlin is out of the head coach discussion.
Tomlin oh yea super bowl wins.
Did Cowher ever go 6 years without a playoff win? Did Noll? Tomlin won the one sb he has as a headcoach with Cowher's core. Facts.
How does Tomlin's team look like now with no big ben?
He's 19-20-1 without Ben.
5 years later Terry is right
Terry Bradshaw is hack. Anyone remember the days of him also knows that whenever Swann or Stallworth was out he played terrible and no he wasn't accurate either.
So true if Terry is so down on Tomlin why don't he step in as Coach. Oh that's right he mad at the organization 😭😭😭😭😭😭
Terry keeps it real.
Mike Tomlin is a better coach than Bradshaw was a quarterback.
Laughable. Sorry.
AlphaDwg Say what you want, last time I checked, Terry has 4 rings.
You RARELY see old NFL highlights of the Steelers passing game.... unless it's that one mistake caught by Franco Harris.
cholli4141
Bradshaw threw the clutch passes - in the big games - when the games were on the line.

Maybe Terry was right after all. Tomlin definitely knows the right things to say if nothing else.
Racism and envy is a bad combination 🤦🏿.
The inconsistency of the team reflects poorly on Tomlin.
How can a team which has never had a losing record be inconsistent.
AFCG K he's never had a losing season that's consistent
The Patriots are inconsistent in Miami is bellicheck just a ok or good coach?????? don't worry I'll wait
He's not a good coach at all.
I'm sorry Terry. I'm so sorry. You are right!
Tell-it-like-it-is Terry Bradshaw I agree with you 150%
Tomlin will be a great coach when he beats the Patriots in a playoff game
Obviously Bradshaw is spot on about Tomlin. He is a terrible coach. He is a great cheerleader.
We the Lions will trade coaches with you.
Cowher was a great coach? What has he done better than Tomlin? McCarthy? Please, this idiocy is insane.
