- Join me as we install Air Bags and Cradles on my Gen 3 Taco. We run into some issues you will want to avoid on you install. This setup should allow for additional weight support while loaded for overlanding travel.
Very helpful, thanks for sharing.
Good to hear. I appreciate your feedback.
The only thing I would’ve done differently is putting in a tee fitting and only having one inlet valve instead of two. With one they would raise evenly.
Great idea. That is definitely a possibility.
Why not just removed the original bump stops all together rather than cutting them? What purpose do they serve? Spacing for the cradle? Going to do this on my gen 3 taco. Thanks!
To be honest I can’t remember what they were needed for but they were needed. I had to search for where I had stored them away because I took them off and tried the Sumo Springs in their place. Thanks for the question and enjoy the project. They work well for me.
Great video! Thanks for posting it was very easy to follow along. Question - Do you know the size of the new air fittings you received? I was sent the wrong size as well - same problem as you. I’m hoping to pick up the correct ones at Home Depot.
I believe it was 1/8” or 1/4” pipe thread. I can’t honestly remember. Also double check the air bags for leaking at the crimp. One of mine leaked. It seems quality was not on the agenda.
Were your SumoSprings in constant contact when loaded? Are you happier with the air bags compared to the SumoSprings?
The Sumo springs with an add a leaf were not in constant contact when loaded for a trip (although it was close)and did quite well. I wanted the adjustability of the air bags and I do not regret the decision. I like the idea that the air bags take some of the load off the leaf springs. I appreciate your question.
@@copelandingadventures Thank you! I appreciate your reply!
What cradles? Daystar?
That is correct.
@@copelandingadventures thanks
Thank you. Are you thinking of doing this?
@copelandingadventures I have the Firestone kit for my Tacoma sitting in the garage waiting for spring and warmer weather for the install. I am definitely considering cradles cuz I do like to articulate sometimes.
