Jon Barton: "As a professional consultant, Jon has a never-ending thirst for military accuracy and proper depiction of the armed services past, present, and future, across all media platforms."
Apparently this is how they did it, They used an EMP weapon that basically fried the entire US grid and effectively disabled most of the Militaries vehicles, planes, and ships. That and they were backed and deployed by the Russians (also invading and doing all the leg works). But as a vet you should know how absurd this is as well.

Realistically, before they made this invasion: 1. NK should destroy or capture the US bases first or anything like National guard that can threaten the invasion mission in real life. Or maybe they already have, and that’s why they have US military vehicles like the humvees. But if it is China, they have already use their own equipment. 2. Jammed all coms & disables the internets all across America. And also invade NORAD first before invasion. 3. The planes either they use the captured US ones. Bcs it is impossible to fly this far if directly from NK or China. Or they have built an airport in the middle of the ocean. Or possibly they captured US bases in Hawaii first. It’s just a movie, but in real life it is impossible to made this scale invasion on America soil.
I think in the original movie, that downed pilot explained that EMP was used to cripple America's defences. Here it seems like they just appeared out of no where using cloaking devices stolen from Romulans. What a sad remake.

It’s a coalition I believe
NK basically is china lol its just like their money laundering hub n such
Too well fed to be North Koreans. ;-)
I hope I'm not the only one who likes this movie better than the original.
Not that the original is too shabby. But I think this is totally directed and written better
@ agreed
And then Tanya comes bursting out the front door of the next house wearing a olive tank top and wielding 2 pistols "Locked and loaded!".
IS THAT ALL YOU GOT? HAHAHAHAHA
CNC baby!
"SHAKE IT, BABY!"
*Manic laughter*
Josh: This is not a good day
Drake: Because North Korea invaded?
Josh: No because it’s a little humid out…YES IT’S BECAUSE NORTH KOREA INVADED
This is unrealistic, North Korea would have to send their entire country’s population to the US
As a paratrooper irl, i want to say all those landing on uneven surfaces and feet apart look painful af
can you always land on an even surface? I guess you land with your feet together?
As a non-paratroper, I find the dropping on an urban area pure bs, most would not be so lucky in landing on hard, even pavement, but on trees or slanted roofs;
Better in the original, dropping was on open meadow outside the school; it also helped making sure the first victim was a boring teacher and the first RPG was shot in the school: the dream of every teenager 🙂
Which unit are you in and salute
@@stefanobonato I agree. Anything more than a commando drop in an urban area would have to be done in an open area. The school and its playing fields, parking lot and open grass fields in the original made much better sense.
Literally the most Hollywood drop ever made. Seriously, dropping over power lines, houses and trees without anything of strategic or tactical value anywhere near by. They probably had less than 50 pounds of gear. How cool is that?
Fun Fact: when I asked my jumpmaster at Benning about this movie, he swore and made me recover the static lines from all jumps for a month.
The irony of this movie is that Hollywood caved to China and made the bad guys NK and Russia
MOAR AKSHUN!!! Boom boom zoom zoom! Jump cut Jump cut Jump cut!!!!
I never realized Josh Peck was rocking a Dinosaur Jr. shirt in this scene, super sick!! Hate him all you want but the dude has good in taste in music.
He did NOT choose to wear that shirt, you know that, right?
2:23 At this point,I was saying "No matter what else happens next, they got one. They got one!"
Even if by some miracle an enemy like North Koreans managed to land their soldiers on the mainland USA keeping them supplied and equipped would be a logistical nightmare 🙄
They will live off the land.
@@amsfountain8792 🤣
Wouldn't it be the same thing if the an enemy like Americans managed to land their troops on the Soviet Union?
I always thought that Josh Hutchinson looks more like Chris's brother than Josh Peck does.
Hutcherson.
This reminds me the mission: "Wolverines" in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2
One of the best
Hollywood... Who else would make a troop parachute jump to land inside a town instead of a grassy open terrain near it?
For those confused on how no one noticed;
“They revealed that the Russian-backed North Korean invasion used an EMP weapon that crippled the U.S. electrical grid, followed by military landings along the east and west coasts. American counterattacks eventually halted their advances, leaving an area stretching from Michigan to Montana and Alabama to Arizona as "Free America", using the Rocky Mountains and the Appalachians as geographic buffers, while pockets of resistance continue to fight in the occupied areas.”
Thank you for giving rational explanation to this film.. I swear some people never put two and two together

Makes sense since all the west Coast and East Coast of America now are all left wing anti gun firearms and anti defend yourself .
The soldiers in the original were so much more aggressive. These DPRK soldiers are like babies in comparison.
One of the little details that I love is how Jed comes out with heavier jackets even though his brother just put on a hoodie. He knows they're going to be gone a good while and maybe sleeping without a heat source.
Be prepared people. Always take a jacket or coat with you if you can. It might save you from a severely cold night.
One of the silliest movies ever made.
NK wouldn't have the resources to pull this off. China would though.
Oh yes they would because china will help them buddy. Also dollar is collapsing and once US becomes weak as California is already a third world we already know this is coming.

How many people know that the 1984 version of Red Dawn was the first PG-13 movie? I had to look it up. And I went to see it at the movie theaters too. And by the way, I prefer the original Red Dawn. And I did watch the remake. I prefer how the original ends with the American Flag flying over Partisan Rock as they called it. Patrick Swayze and Charlie Sheen do their characters well. And as far as I know, more realistic. Does anybody remember that the actor who played Robert, I think it was him, was in the remake. I am not a paratrooper, but I am the son of a Former Special Forces and a paratrooper. You do not land paratroopers in the middle of a town with trees and homes crowding it. And like others have said, how did the US government not notice the packs of planes flying across the coast? We have tracking stations and ATC all over the country. Where was the US Air Force?
One of the finest examples of a remake that didnt need to be made.
yeah with most of america having gun owning civilians, it just makes it absurd.
This would never happen like this, not here, basically nowhere. No way that amount of troops and armory could get in without having been noticed far in advance.
You didn’t see what happened in Israel?

Ten years and a couple more later, we have learned have far fetched this concept is.
I got 2:50 into this, and as an Army vet and a huge fan of the original, it's all I could stomach. First off, Chris Hemsworth playing a teenager in his late 20s is laughable. The jet flying lower than the paratroopers, the paratrooper shooting while landing, the massive numbers of aircraft flying ten feet apart, paratroopers jumping into an urban area, it's all just silly to start with. Who was the military advisor on this junk? Found him.
Bless his heart
i'ved decided after seeing this movie i will keep the 92 dodge truck, didn't know it was that tough
As long as it's not all rotted out.
in this country they always imagine things like that, all civilians are armed
Meanwhile in the south the country folks is playing a game call shoot the ducks in the sky 🤣🤣🤣
NRA sticker on the truck but he comes out of the house unarmed? As a resident of Tennessee I can assure you it would sound like opening day of duck season in my neighborhood.

That wasn't his truck nor was that his house he came out of.
With these drones in NJ imagine if this will happen in a couple of days 😭
Senior enemy commander goes to great lengths to stop 5 enemy civilians from driving away. Seems legit
A remake that didn’t need to be made😉
Never saw it. Some movie's should not be remade.
North Korea? Lol. Id be worried about CHYNA!
After idiots make US arsenal consist only of tiny nukes? Yeah I would be freaking out to.
Realistically, before they made this invasion:
Entire scene is an ode to the american pickup!

I think in the original movie, that downed pilot explained that EMP was used to cripple America's defences. Here it seems like they just appeared out of no where using cloaking devices stolen from Romulans. What a sad remake.
It didnt necessarily explain in this one, but im assuming they did use some sort of EMP, remember the night before when the whole town blacked out while they were at the bar? I think thats what it meant
@@xBoogs808x The original Red Dawn was a silly but fun action movie and yet it took the time to explain what was going on in the world in that one scene with the pilot by the fire. parachuting into the suburbs? Bad idea.
Why are the NK paratroopers bothering to roll up their chutes? Are they going to hide them in hopes of avoiding detection?🙄
there' s yet another movie that nobody ever wanted or needed a remake, not to mention how ridiculous this version is
Originally it was supposed to be PLA troops invading. But it was changed to to and sell it to a Chinese audience.
How far we've come that we're no longer afraid of hurting the feelings of the CCP ^.^
It's more to do with the fact that China is no longer an emerging market, but rather has become a significant power on the world stage. Furthermore, the national discourse in this country regarding China has changed from one where China is just producer of cheap goods into one where China is a military rival to the United States. Hollywood is merely acting accordingly.
