I just recently found out about the concept of ikigai! I started as an intern at my current place of employment. And over a year’s time I was offered a supervisory position at this company doing something I am so incredibly passionate about! However after stepping into this new role, I very quickly became unhappy with it. Honestly, it’s heartbreaking. I spent a lot of time thinking about why, and I believe it’s because this role does not allow me space to be creative nor do I have any amount of autonomy. My expectations for a role as a supervisor exceeded what is actually expected of me. I realized that it takes more than just a good wage and a good mission to have fulfillment in my career. I have to feel like I am making a positive impact on the people around me and the workplace and the mission of the organization and unfortunately I don’t feel that way now. I’m grateful for the tools. Thank you very much!
