    You've shown me some technics that I've never seen before. Thank you for sharing.This is just a tip for anyone who doesnt have the backing material. Some times I use regular felt. All I do is paint my felt with a mixture of white pva glue and water. Add the mixture thinly and evenly. Then let it dry and it will stiffen up. I found that it works pretty good.

    This is probably the best bead embroidery tutorial I've come across. Your work is very clean and I like the tips of how to get the beads to form around the cab a little more smoothly. It looks very professional! Thank you!

    Thank you, Gail! You created this tutorial way back in 2016, so I don't know if you're seeing comments after all that time. Just wanted to say that your bead embroidery tutorial is great! I have always been intimidated by the idea of seed bead embroidery. I so like that you kept this straightforward and basic for a beginner. You demonstrate how even basic beading around a cabochon makes it so much more beautiful. I look forward to watching more of your UA-cam videos! Thank you!❤

    I remember seeing a video where a woman said it helps a lot to trim the corners of the felt that your going to be working on. So instead of it being a square, its circular. That way while your sewing, you’re not constantly getting your thread caught on the edges.

    This is awesome and easy to follow. I have seen this kind of jewelry before but I had no idea how it was done. Considering the amazing results it seems the actual process is pretty simple. I can do this!!! I have collected beads for a very long time, mostly because they are pretty. I have a ton of them but haven't done much with them. I am SO going to try this! I also have a rock collection I think I can encorporate. Thank you so very very much for these explainations!!

It is so neat and tidy. You have given me the confidence to actually get busy and make the beaded cabochons I need to complete the piece I started awhile ago. These are quite beautiful!, i usually dont like the white of the backing showing through, so i give it a light wash of color with some acrylic paint, and let it dry. or markers to match the beads and cabs.

    HI Gail: so happy I finally found a tutorial that I understand; your instructions are most concise! I am new to beaded cabs and wondered if it is possible to use pearls( I am a lover of pearls) along the outer edge of the cab (as the last round)? Apparently none of the other sites use pearls along with seed beads. I welcome your thoughts or words of advice. Thank you!

    • @beadedjewelrydiva
      @beadedjewelrydiva  8 років тому

      +Carole Rosario Hi! Certainly you can use pearls just about anywhere with bead embroidery. While I wouldn't use them as the brick stitch portion, they could certainly be an embellishment to the brick stitch edging. But there really aren't any rules with bead embroidery except one -- just have a good time!

  • @aliciatavizon001
    @aliciatavizon001 4 місяці тому

    I love the tutorial so much. I am new to this and one thing I will have to search is the brick stitch since it didn’t show more for me to get it 😢 but I am sure I will get it after a few tries. On the edging is just passing needs from bead to bead already set right ?
    Thank you so much for this great tutorial.

    Thanks for the great step by step. You have made some beautiful pieces. One question, please...do you join the components via the beads, the backing or both?

    • @beadedjewelrydiva
      @beadedjewelrydiva  8 років тому

      +Sara Jane Haven Hi -- thanks for the question. The answer is, "it depends". It mainly depends on the project -- for example, the bracelet I showed in the video is connected component-to-component. However, I've also had projects where I've placed several components on another piece of backing, and "filled in" in between with other beads.

    This is a great tutorial, thank you!! I'm just starting bead embroidery and I want to create necklaces with the components. Do you know how to link components with metal jump rings? Thanks!

    • @beadedjewelrydiva
      @beadedjewelrydiva  7 років тому +3

      Sure, you can do it a couple of different ways, but the way I use most often is to sew a closed jump ring into the components before I put on the final backing -- you need to have the jump ring peeking over the edge of the component. Then you can use open jump rings to connect the components. :)
