It is really exciting to see this, since it sometimes feels like bead embroidery is a forgotten part of working with seed beads. I love bead embroidery, and although I have been doing it for years, I have never used a couching stitch. It is cool to see how someone else does things and I am looking forward to the rest of the series. Thank you so much for making this available!
What an awesome video! I've always been afraid of bead embroidery, but this has made me want to attempt it again. Love how it teaches you from the start. Jody makes me feel so at ease, her style is so engaging and her kindness shows through. Thank you so much for inviting this fabulous artist.
Not new to beading or embroidery, however new to bead embroidery, I loved this video. Very clear, precise directions and I love her voice very soothing. More videos please! ❤️
Hi Margo! Thanks so much for watching and we're happy to hear that you liked the video. Here's a link to Jody's playlist here on UA-cam and each Wednesday we'll release a new video until July 1st. ua-cam.com/play/PLCCNqW5Elcgcl5-HQEvT9KNmcpuMzXmrR.html
I shop at Jody’s sisters store, Beyond Beads. Cindy and Jody are lovely people. ❤️ I also do a lot of ordering from Fire Mountain. They carry a huge variety of supplies.
I'm a beginner and I am looking forward to this series I have loved bead embroidery and thought it to be a little daunting. Thank you for sharing, I am excited to get started 😊
Wow...this seems to go so fast and love all the textures shown for future episodes to whet the appetite. Anxiously awaiting the additional videos in this series. Glad to see the 1st comment about making sure your first row is an even count of beads. THANK YOU Jody and FMG!
This is a GREAT video. So inspiring and easy to follow. There are no complicated patterns or techniques. Her just follow your heart attitude allows me to create something that is totally mine. The filming on this video is outstanding. It is very easy to see exactly what she is doing and follow along. A supply list of her basic materials would be appreciated.
Thank you so much! So glad you enjoyed it. We don't have a detailed materials list and we encourage you to use the technique learned here with the products listed in the description of this video. Happy creting Apral!
Apral, so happy that it spoke to you and was inspiring. You will love what is still to come. Fire Mountain did an excellent job with everything and they have quite the set-up. The staff was uncreditable and made me feel so comfortable and part of the team. The amount of work that goes into a project like this is huge and they are all experts.
Jody, thank you so much for sharing this lovely video. I see how you did it’s and now I can start a small project, would be a pendant an take it’s from there. Thank you so much.✨🙋♀️✨
She didn’t mention that you should have an even number of beads around the base row of seed beads (even count peyote). If you have an odd count, it will end up spiraling (no step-up place at end of row) or you will need to skip two beads somewhere along the way to decrease by one bead when doing the second row. That’s not optimal as it can cause your bezel to have an unsightly gap in that one row and throw off your bead alignment which makes it look sloppy. I made that mistake once when I was just learning and had to tear the whole thing out and start over. That is not fun to do!
Hi Anne, the cabs I used allowed me to do even count peyote, so I was able to step up. There are a few tricks if it is uneven and glad you know the trick.
Thank you for posting this. Something always goes a little off when I'm starting a new craft, now I know how to counter a potential something! Bless her though, this was a great introductory video for a beginner like me.
Very well explained! Made it easier for us to understand… great video for beginners! Can you share the exact link for the cabochon used in this project, please?
So glad you enjoyed this video. It's just part 1 of the series. Here's a link to the the playlist of this series - ua-cam.com/play/PLCCNqW5Elcgcl5-HQEvT9KNmcpuMzXmrR.html Also, here's a link to the black lip shell cabochon - www.firemountaingems.com/itemdetails/h201652cb Thanks for watching!
Unfortunately I can't get ride of the caption running on the screen obscuring the central picture. And this looks like (what I can see of it) an excellent tutorial. Yes, I checked my utube setting and my caption setting is turned to off.

Jody, behind you is an awesome tower of drawers… where can I get one of those?
Hi Pip. Our video studio purchased that many years ago from IKEA. Not sure if they still have them, you'll have to check.
Unfortunately I can't get ride of the caption running on the screen obscuring the central picture. And this looks like (what I can see of it) an excellent tutorial. Yes, I checked my utube setting and my caption setting is turned to off.
