How to make a letter opener knife

  • in this video I attempt to make my first knife in the form of a sharp steel blade letter opener. with no forge. I was inspired by Diesineveryfilm Customs. He makes some badass awesome and highly custom sharp and pointy things.

      I have never had to sharpen my little diamond blade shears.

      Ichiban Moto maybe one day it will. Some days I get 100s of new subs and some I only get 2. In June I hit 1000 subs and now I'm at 6000 I suppose it's just getting to people who like it and I don't think I'm very good at tagging my videos or helping spread my work. I really appreciate what your saying tho. I'm sure one day I will have a good amount of subs but I'm happy anyway I just enjoy sharing and all my loyal subscribers 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

      you must have made the same mistake as I did, my letter opener tool is for metric envelopes, and most of the ones we have here in the states are imperial..... I'll also have to give it another go. thanks ichie!

      yeah it only opens wood pulp paper envelopes, not those parchment and wax sealed ones you got over there.

    Badass! You're a true master with the diamond paper, sir. As a furniture maker, I have had experience with glues failing though, so maybe on your next handle try something more permanent like green zipties.

    The shank reminds me; I found I could also use my sock-with-a-bar-of-soap combo for cleaning and polishing my bike, personal hygiene and protecting one foot from dog eggs.

    What do u think is wrong with my 2002 Yamaha ttr90 dirtbike? When I give it gas it bogs down,I've cleaned the carb multiple times and it has a hard time starting this just happened out of the blue about a month ago, I changed the oil I don't know what to do HELP!!!

      only one good cleaning will do it. are you certain all micropassages and jets are properly clean? also double check the timing, spark advance etc. is there a fuel filter?

    Have you tried coating wooden knife handles with cyanoacrylate? I've heard it can give a nice shiny coating.

    thanks for the tutorial ichiban. one question. can i use leftover motorcycle tyres as fuel for my forge? i supply air to it by attaching a fan to my handdrill

      if you did you wouldn't need to supply air as you could use a pre-inflated tyre inner tube and burn that!

    What about heat treat? You know you can use a household iron for treating, if you wrap the letter opener in aluminium folio!

    Lost for words but just amazing !. Turned out a cracking industrial letter opener though, and very sharp and if you ever run out of razors and need a shave ? well..... there you go !.And better put to use rather than a prison shank .Hope you didn't throw away the bandana man !

    I knew it would be BAD ASS sharp! the way it just tore through your finger! WOW, that was better than the surgeon's scalpel.
    I'm amazed to see the effectiveness of that diamond metal cutting paper, you are using to shape the tip of the knife... I'm wondering if you can use it as super fast sanding paper as well? One stroke and all sanding is finished?
    Lastly a final question; when using it for opening letters, do you use full chain saw safety gear?
    I mean if that thing slips; it'll be the Stockholm Bloodbath all over again...
