I used this video to find the code on my 08 Escape XLT. One thing to add, the large grey piece does not simply come up when grabbed by the cupholder area. I used the same flathead tool to gently pry around the shifter to pop it up. It uses similar clips as the chrome piece around the shifter. Code worked just fine. One last thing to add. The owners manual is a bit confusing. The code will work whether or not the car is running. So if you're like me and lock yourself out of a running car, this 3 minute task is completely worth your time! Thanks for the video!
Just bought a 2008 Escape - no owner manual. no key code.... thanks a bunch man thanks to you and your video I now know my 5 digit code!!! You're the best!
Just picked up an '08 Escape and this was literally the most helpful video! Thank you! Kind of makes you wonder why this instruction wasn't included in the owners manual...
OMG....I am sooo happy! I have gone 4 1/2 years with one key fob, no code, and a couple incidents of locking my keys in the car. Took probably less than 10 minutes for this old lady to do it myself after watching your video! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Daryl, thanks a lot for uploading this video. You just saved $136.00 the Ford dealer was charging me for providing the five digit code for my wife’s mercury. I did exactly what you showed in your video, and it worked perfect. I got those five numbers and saved money. A thousand thanks.
Thank you so much I recently bought a 2011 Ford escape limited in mine came with a keypad lock on the side as well thank you so much this will save me so much money
Well some dealers would pull it up for free ive heard, but this is pretty easy. You may be able to see it without taking it all apart by sticking your phone up there.
Thanks for the info. Was able to locate my code with minimal trouble. A pry bar on the gray trim board was helpful because I couldn't get a good grip on the cup holders.
Thanks for your video. Exactly what I needed to get my code for my '10 Escape Limited, that the previous owner didn't know. Also gave me a chance to do a bit of detailing that he missed as well. ;)
Thanks, I was just going out to my 08 Escape hybrid to remove the center counsel. I don't have the keypad but just wanted to see how the counsel was removed so I can do a wrap on it.
Thank you very much for this period I have a 2010 and really appreciate knowing how to do that. It didn't come with a manual so I really appreciate it thanks again
Thank you Daryl,, helps me a lot, i just got a used 08 mariner , so I got only one set of keys,, and i did this and it works,,, I got the factory code THANK YOU!
I can’t get the main part off of my 2011 Ford Escape. That thing is solid in there. I have trim tools but it’s impossible to get under the grey piece cause it’s so flush with the lower part. I’m pulling up with all my strength. Even used some pliers for better grip and nothing budged
W meany chrome trim ring around the shifter base, make sure you use something very very black like a sharpened paint scraper putty knife and push it in at the point where the retainer Tabs are so they don't accidentally break it
Hello Daryl, thanks for the offer though I meant as if I _stumbled_ upon this. No issues, I just saw this video on my feed and was not disappointed. :)
Great tip about the numbers. Looks like a food car since the water in the cupholders and carpet looks mushy. sad, the wonder any electrical components are working
could u do a video of replacing the lcd monitor for radio i have a 2010 ford escaped radio works fine but display at the top by vents does not come on cant seem to find a video about it
Well, this is GREAT, but a bit more detail about EXACTLY what numbers you found would have been helpful. I've had 5 Escapes (3hybrid), a Mountaineer, and 3 Explorers. They've had the codes written in crayon behind the glove boxes or in the jack boxes. The 2010 v6 Escape didn't have markings anywhere, and a few different 5 digit numbers on the stickers on this module that you don't quite show us. None of them work on mine. Thanks for the info, but 2 seconds more down in the hole there would've been worth it.
I have a crazy question. Please no rude comments. Is that code the same code of the ignition cylinder? I need a new one but i can't gwt new one apart for the code. Thank you
Here is my problem. I got a new ignition cylinder and i have to put litle clips with numbers in it for the key to work i guess and i cant get my old one to come apart so i can the numbers
Deb Peterson I will try, does the display light up? Welcome message, time etc? Is there any function at all? Do you have the deluxe navigation system or a basic system?
Deb Peterson ford doesn't use codes in North america. Try checking the fuse, actually pull it out and then put it back in. Try pulling battery cable off for a couple of minutes and reinstall. I will keep researching for you. One person said they removed radio and reinstalled it and that solved problem.
Behind the B pillar Trim in the rear seat area. You have to remove the rear seat. There are several UA-cam videos I've seen about this subject. Here's a write-up from a good source if you scroll all the way downwww.justanswer.com/ford/149yx-computer-module-2007-ford-f150.html
How about a 06?? Is it on the same location.. ⬆️8, I FOUND IT. Didn't have to take nothing off or apart. It was underneath the dash kinda behind the shifter. I made a video with my flashlight cause I couldn't see and that's how I found it!!
Ford doesn't use security codes on radios anywhere in the north American market. Are you in a different area? If not, it is likely just a defective unit.
daryl turcott definitely. It was super jammed for some reason. I can’t lift it up at all. I locked myself out my car today so I pressed random codes until my door unlocked but can’t remember the sequence 😂
Ive done that before! Its not hard just takes patience and an attitude that your first attempt wont be perfect. I did 2 bedrooms that had carpet. Rented a sander, used a lot of tack cloth, hand applied stain with cotton rags. Very light finish sand, more tack cloth, polyurethane with a roller, then 0000 steel wool to buff the finish.
You need to explain how to take the console out better. You need a screw driver to pop open both sides in the back of the console otherwise it won’t come off. This works on a 2011 Mariner
richard crooks To locate the original keypad code, open the passenger/rear door. Pull the on-body rubber weatherstrip out, around the rear side of the door closure. Fold the right/rear seatback down into the locked position to facilitate access to the right/rear seat belt anchor. Carefully pry the upper plastic panel that houses the height adjuster and seat belt anchor off the body taking care not to damage the panel. Now pry the lower panel outward just far enough to enable access to the Vehicle Security Module, where you'll see
Or you could just slide your cell phone behind the back of the console and record until you find the code so that you don't have to pop anything out of the console at all. Lol
I was skeptical but yeah 5 digit number is the code thank you very much this video was very helpful
Ruben Gonzalez I appreciate you taking the time to comment.

Geoff Boston happy to help. I hate that the dealers try to milk big $$ for this.
Just picked up an '08 Escape and this was literally the most helpful video! Thank you! Kind of makes you wonder why this instruction wasn't included in the owners manual...
Probably a dealer secret to extract money . I have quite a few escape repair videos, but I hope you don't need them!

I’m lucky that the previous owner of my 2012 Ford Escape put the key code on a label inside the glove compartment.
Thank you Daryl,, helps me a lot, i just got a used 08 mariner , so I got only one set of keys,, and i did this and it works,,, I got the factory code THANK YOU!

I will check service manual, but I don't think so. I don't know if ignition even has a code. I think it just reads the key.
Here is my problem. I got a new ignition cylinder and i have to put litle clips with numbers in it for the key to work i guess and i cant get my old one to come apart so i can the numbers
I have a factory service manual. I can look this afternoon.
Escape? What year?
2010
Thank for the helpful info. I'm going to try it right now.
the factory code will override your personal programmed code...Ford says take the card out of your manual and put it in the house somewhere.
Good safety tip, but it's also why so many people need this video. Too many get list and not put back in manual when car is sold.
Worked for me. Thank you
Thank you!
Thanks got my project for tomorrow!!!
Rene Elias give me a like if you can. and let me know if you have any problems,

The center console on mine has never been taken out and it's sturdy as a rock, tried it light force didnt work, I'm have to find another way
Some dealers will scan it for free for you. Or Slide your cell phone up under there on video record with the light on. Or take it apart.
thank you so much!!!
I have a 2006 will it still hurt

Thanks I love the saving of money!

I have an 08 escape, where do I enter the code to unlock my radio
Ford doesn't use security codes on radios anywhere in the north American market. Are you in a different area? If not, it is likely just a defective unit.
Wasn’t able to get the big console piece up. I’ll try again later!
let me know if you need some advice
daryl turcott definitely. It was super jammed for some reason. I can’t lift it up at all. I locked myself out my car today so I pressed random codes until my door unlocked but can’t remember the sequence 😂

You need to explain how to take the console out better. You need a screw driver to pop open both sides in the back of the console otherwise it won’t come off. This works on a 2011 Mariner
They changed some things after 08 or 09, I don't recall having to pop anything off on mine.
Can you explain a little better? I have a 11 and that part will not budge with all my might
Holy shit that fucking worked lol
Minnesota or maine?
Michigan
Thank u for this! 😎

Okay does anyone know where to find the code on a 2011 Ford Edge?
richard crooks To locate the original keypad code, open the passenger/rear door. Now pry the lower panel outward just far enough to enable access to the Vehicle Security Module, where you'll see
richard crooks I found this on the internet, I cannot personally say that this is correct.
Thank you!
You could have took a pick of the code. LoL!
Or you could just slide your cell phone behind the back of the console and record until you find the code so that you don't have to pop anything out of the console at all. Lol
That's how I had to do it on an expedition. It's behind right kick panel but facing the front of vehicle.
Where to find the code on a 2011 Ford Edge.
Dealer do not charge to get the keypad code because it happens not enough to charge
its printed on the body control module
smart!
