Don't glorify long working hours

Currently, I'm in KPMG Deal Advisory. Earlier, I was in EY Assurance (1st job post-qualification). I worked for 110 hours over 7 days in my 1st week in EY. This continued for another 2 weeks. It was a listed client annual audit.
A colleague of mine was not keeping well. He insisted his Manager for WFH on one particular day (he too was a fresher), but was denied. The same day he came to the client office, vomitted blood and fainted in the washroom. None of the EY guys (incl. Director) showed any concern. Since, I got along really well with him, I dropped him off at his home. While leaving these EY guys told me to come back to office. I was just a fresher yet I refused to come back to office. (this event happened at around 6 pm). This is how EY treats it's employees.

I have taken law classes from you for CA finals and I could simply say that you are the best teacher, when I saw your material I can see the hardwork you have put in for making the same.
And the classes were extraordinary, your philosophy is the best in the business samjho fir yaad karo (understand then learn) I have never thought that I could get exemption in the theory subject but you just made me fall in love with the subject and I scored exact 60.

Maximum people I know are leaving the big 4 due to high pressure environment.
My friend who score AIR-39 was in the job for 18lpa due to pressure je left the job he said bhaiya itna pressure se accha haii kam paise kamau and now he is much happy in his 10lpa job
Please prioritise mental health and don't be slaves of the higher paid employees.

sir you have mention about family and family time but in reality not all parents are that good, i'm a CA intermediate student i failed in my may 2024 examination after putting so much efforts. i passed in group 2 and stuck in group 1 by 6-7 marks in accountancy, my parents said that i m a failure comparing me with my friend who just passed in may. they always be so toxic towards me everytime they tell me what we are doing no one could will do i mean that;s their responsiblity no kid would earn go to school and prepare his food.
i always wanted to be a CA from class 10th but after completion of my 10th grade my father used to abuse me time to time i have not taken science i have no future. some time later when i qualified ca foundation after 12th. they being too concerned about me, not as a parent as they want to control me do this do that. but when i failed my mother told me you re a shame you dont clear a simple exam in 12 month disguisting, she is graduate in arts and do not have any idea what i m pursuing. sir i felt so bad sometime i think i stuck in a bad condition.
now i think what bhagwad geeta says is totally true no one in this world will connect with us without a reason.
mental health physical heal is too important cause no one give a damn about us! no parents no family.

Family is not important in today world of kalyug money is core in every relationship if you do not have money and if you are unsuccessful in 2024 your own family disown you that's reality of today era I repeat only money power status gives you a value in the society and if you don't have these you are nothing nobody care about you even your own family or relatives so work hard and play harder

Nice explanation....I am 100% agree even one can overwork if he is only getting affected but one should.not force anybody because once this starts and it channelize ls to other. We should be saying no when we are in danger.
So much agree with you... currently in big 4 facing all these, struggling with high expectations and breaking down crying almost every other week..
Figuring out how to get out of it
My senior also asked me on the first day of Articleship that are you ready to work on weekends and holidays over 10-12 hours, in the excitement and now being able to land articleship at multiple firms I nodded my head. But Thank God, 3 years are now over. 🎉

Sir its same everywhere whether its Big4 or Industry. I have taken anxiety tablets and working for more than 12 hours.
Please don't take tablets. Instead find permanent solution. Becusse these Anxiety tablets are very hard to quit
That's why ASHNEER GROVER LEFT the EY after Joining the group...he said in an interview that work culture in big 4 is pathetic

If you watch all his interviews, you will find that he supports toxic work environment. He believes toxic work culture is good for productivity
